Chapter 283
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 283:
Indeed, Madisyn was very charming.
Maxine shivered slightly. âOkay.â Her voice shook, yet it sounded incredibly decisive. Following Madisyn, she felt she had discovered her path. Even if she risked defeat, she was determined to give her all.
Shortly after, Madisyn sent Maxineâs agent to sign the contract with the showâs organizer. Once that was handled, Madisyn came across a piece of news: the Norris family was bankrupt?
Madisyn raised an eyebrow. She was familiar with the Norris family, a prominent family in Ansport, though considered to be of the lower tier among the elite. Still, even if they were of the lower tier among the elite, they were well beyond the means of average people. How had such a wealthy family gone bankrupt so suddenly? Driven by curiosity, Madisyn clicked on the news.
After reading, she realized that the Norris family must have crossed someone powerful to fall into bankruptcy so quickly. However, Madisyn soon put the matter aside and resumed her work.

At noon, Andrew joined her for lunch. Throughout the meal, he was busy texting on his phone. âWho are you texting?â Madisyn was curious. He hadnât been like this before.
Upon hearing her, Andrew put his phone away and explained, âI have something to sort out.â
Madisyn frowned. âWhy do I get the feeling youâre acting odd today?â
âMaybe itâs because Iâm quite busy.â Andrew smiled and served some food to Madisyn, saying, âSweetheart, donât overthink it.â But Madisyn still felt uneasy. She glanced at Andrew occasionally.
After they finished eating, they went for a stroll in a nearby park. There, Madisyn caught a glimpse of the profile picture of the person Andrew had been chatting with. It was Dane!
Madisynâs eyes widened in surprise. Didnât they often clash with each other? Why were they talking?
âDid my brother give you a hard time?â Madisyn asked, furrowing her brow.
âNo.â Andrew put away his phone and said, âSweetheart, itâs just work-related.â
Yet, Madisyn continued to eye Andrew with suspicion. He took her hand and insisted, âHonestly, itâs nothing.â
But the more he acted this way, the less Madisyn believed him. She gripped his hand tighter and said, âIf something is really going on, you need to tell me. My brother might have misunderstood something.â
âNo,â Andrew denied. âWe actually get along quite well.â
Madisyn remained skeptical. The moment Andrew was gone, Madisyn called Dane.
âMadisyn, whatâs up?â Daneâs voice was soothing.
âDane, have you been in touch with Andrew recently?â
âAndrew? Did he say something to you?â
Madisyn replied, âNo, I saw you two chatting. Dane, he really is a good guy. Donât get the wrong idea about him.â
âAhem.â Dane coughed and said, âMadisyn, youâve got it wrong. Iâm on good terms with Andrew now. Thereâs definitely no wrong idea. Iâm not giving him a hard time.â
âThatâs not what I meantâ¦â Madisyn clarified. She had just sensed something odd about Andrew.
âI need Andrewâs help with some things lately, so Iâve been in contact with him.â
âReally?â Madisyn was still uncertain. âYou need help from Andrew?â
âAbsolutely; this is Ansport, not Gemond, after all.â After that, Dane fell silent.
Madisyn quickly picked up on something. âAre you in Ansport? Dane, what have you gotten yourself into?â The more he spoke, the more suspicious she became.
Dane eventually admitted, âI had issues with a family here in Ansport, so I enlisted Andrewâs help to handle it.â
âIs it the Norris family?â
âHow did you know that?â Dane was taken aback.
Madisyn was at a loss for words. Just this morning, she was pondering who could have been behind the downfall of the Norris family. She hadnât imagined it was her brother and her boyfriend.
âBut Dane, what issues do we have with the Norris family?â
Madisyn frowned. What sort of conflict would drive her brother to take drastic action against the Norris family?
âThis matter is ours to handle. You donât need to worry about it. Madisyn, if youâre feeling tired, you should rest.â Dane avoided the topic.
Madisyn didnât press further. Since her brother preferred not to discuss it, she decided not to push, but she still felt uneasy about it.
