Chapter 297
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 297:
Madisyn was so startled that she nearly choked on her food. She turned to Elaine and inquired, âThen why did you sigh? Mom, havenât you always hoped for Dane to find a partner?â
Elaine sighed again and said, âYes, I want that for him, but he hasnât shown interest in any girls, just his close male friends. It makes me wonderâ¦â Elaine trailed off, leaving her thoughts hanging, but the implication was clear to everyone.
Madisyn and Andrew exchanged a glance, both feeling amused. Madisyn cleared her throat. âI donât think thatâs the case.â
âBut he really doesnât spend time with any girls at all!â Elaine insisted. âNo, I need to figure out who Dane might be seeing!â
Madisyn muttered, âOkay.â
âMadisyn, do you know anything?â Elaine suddenly questioned.
Madisyn was taken aback once again. She probably knew⦠but the dynamics between those two seemed strained.

âMom, I think itâs best not to worry. Let Dane manage his personal life,â Madisyn said, then shifted the conversation. âBy the way, whereâs Dad?â
Elaine responded, âOh, Rowan made a mistake at the company, so your dad is sorting it out.â
âWhat kind of mistake?â Madisyn asked.
Elaine explained, âIt appears he made a deal that caused the company to lose a few hundred million dollars.â
A few hundred million dollars? While Rowan was known to lack business sense, losing that amount was no minor matter!
Madisyn furrowed her brow, preparing to delve deeper, but Elaine continued, âEven though itâs a relatively small amount, itâs still problematic. The reputation of the Johns Group is at stake, so your dad had to intervene.â
A small amount? Madisyn quietly bowed her head and continued eating in silence. She realized she might have underestimated her familyâs actual wealth.
They had just finished the snacks when Glenn finally returned, looking a bit worn out.
âDad, youâre back,â Madisyn greeted him and asked, âHow did things go at the company?â
âNothing to worry about,â Glenn reassured her with a smile.
âIâll go heat up some food for you.â Elaine rose to warm up some food for Glenn.
Spotting Andrew, Glenn said, âAndrew, youâre here. Has something special happened today?â
âNo, Dad, he just came to see you and Mom,â Madisyn smiled and said.
âOkay.â Glenn nodded.
Elaine quickly set up the food, and Glenn began his meal. Elaine sat beside him, keeping him company. They shared a tender moment.
Madisyn observed them, feeling a mix of warmth and longing. This was the type of family life she deeply desired. Suddenly, she felt a warm hand grasp hers as Andrew whispered, âWhat are you thinking about?â
âI just think my parents have a really great relationship,â Madisyn said. âI find it quite enviable.â
âThereâs no need for envy. I promise to treat you even better,â Andrew assured her with a loving look.
Madisynâs heart skipped a beat. She nodded slightly, then curiously inquired, âBy the way, Iâve never heard you talk about your parents. Where are they?â
Andrewâs expression froze momentarily before he responded, âTheyâve been gone for a long time.â
Madisyn was taken aback. âIâm sorryâ¦â
âItâs okay. They passed away when I was very young,â Andrew replied calmly. âIâve learned to live with it.â
Seeing the sadness in his eyes, Madisyn couldnât resist embracing him. âIâll be here for you.â
Feeling her tender yet resilient embrace, Andrew wrapped his arms around her tightly. Her warmth made even the darkest night seem less cold. At the dining table, Glenn observed this interaction with a less-than-pleased look. However, Elaine was delighted. âThey really share a close bond!â
âIsnât this a bit much for our home?â Glenn expressed his displeasure.
Elaine dismissed his concerns, saying, âItâs just a hug. Whatâs so serious about that? Donât be so harsh. Andrew is a decent young man.â
After being scolded, Glenn remained silent and quietly continued eating.
As the evening wore on, out of consideration, Andrew decided to leave, and Madisyn also left her parentsâ house to return to her own.
Over the next two days, Madisyn sensed that someone was following her each time she drove. She tried to figure out who it was but realized the individual must have been hired by someone; she didnât know the person.
On the third day, Madisyn drove to work as usual and once again noticed the same car trailing her in the rearview mirror. After several days, the follower hadnât even switched cars. She had nearly memorized the license plate. Frustrated, she attempted to shake the car off, but suddenly a vehicle darted out from the side, resulting in a collision!
In an instant, flames engulfed the vehicles! Nearby cars swerved to avoid the accident, and pedestrians on the sidewalk screamed. A cacophony of cries and curses filled the air.
