Madisyn said, “You’ve given me too few clues. I can’t let you go. If you find any new information, contact me anytime.”

With that, Madisyn stood and exited the room.

Jeffry was taken aback. Once he realized he had been deceived, his frustration boiled over. “I’ve shared everything I know! Madisyn, release me. I raised you for so long. Don’t be so cruel!”

Ignoring his protests, Madisyn left the room and waited for Glenn on the sofa.

Soon, Glenn appeared, his face etched with sadness.

“Let’s head out,” Madisyn whispered softly.

Glenn nodded in agreement.

Once in the car, Madisyn turned to Glenn and said, “Dad, try not to dwell on it. Rowan brought this upon himself.”

“I understand, but I can’t shake the feeling that I was at fault, too. He’s my only brother,” Glenn said, sighing heavily. “I should have guided him better as his older brother.”

“He’s an adult with his own ways. You can’t change who he is. Dad, don’t be too hard on yourself,” Madisyn said. Glenn patted her head and replied, “Thank you, my dear. I know all this, but I guess I just need a little time to accept it.”

Madisyn nodded understandingly.

A thought then struck Madisyn. “Dad, do I only have one aunt and one uncle? Do we have any other relatives?”

“Your mother has siblings too. We’ll see them on New Year’s Day.”

After thinking for a while, Madisyn inquired, “What about the relatives on your side?”

“I only have two siblings, but the Johns family has many extended branches. It’s hard to keep track of everyone. But why do you ask about this suddenly?” Glenn questioned.

Madisyn explained, “I just realized I don’t know much about our extended family.”

“Well, the distant relatives don’t really mingle with us. My father left all the shares to me; no one else owns any. A few might work at the Johns Group.”

Even if such a relative killed her, it likely wouldn’t help them take over the company, Madisyn thought. “Are you the sole holder of all the Johns Group’s shares?”

“Within the Johns family, it’s just me. However, the Johns Group wasn’t founded solely by my father; he started it with his business partner. That partner has retired, and now his son plays a key role in the company. He holds twenty percent of the shares, ten percent are held by minor shareholders, and I control the remainder,” Glenn clarified.

This meant that Glenn had nearly unilateral control over the company’s decisions.

Madisyn needed confirmation on something. “Is that man currently at the main office in Gemond?”

“Yes, he’s the vice president there. He handles the business operations alongside Dane.”

“Okay.”

As they chatted, they reached Edge Entertainment. It had been a while since Madisyn had been at work, and she finally returned.

When she entered the company, her colleagues were shocked to see her.

Maxine ran up and embraced her. “Miss Johns, you’re really here! Everyone thought you were gone!”

“I’m okay,” Madisyn reassured her with a smile. “I’m sorry for the concern.”

“As long as you’re okay.” Maxine stared at her, visibly relieved.

Just then, Milly exited the elevator and immediately called Howard upon spotting Madisyn. “What’s going on?” Howard’s voice was calm.

Milly informed him, “Miss Johns is back at work.”

Howard chuckled and said, “She returned yesterday. Everything is fine.”

“Okay.”

After ending the call, Milly approached Madisyn. She gazed at her with big, expressive eyes, her look filled with concern, but she said nothing.

Madisyn found Milly’s expression endearing. “I’m really okay. I’m sorry for worrying you.”

“Well, Howard is also worried,” Milly mentioned.

“It was just an accident. It won’t happen again.”

“That’s a relief.”

“How’s the preparation for the fashion show going?” Madisyn asked Maxine.

“I’ve been rehearsing these past few days. The show is the day after tomorrow.”

“If I can, I’ll come watch,” Madisyn replied.

Maxine smiled and raised her eyebrows. “Okay.”

Madisyn then headed back to her office.

She received a lot of concern from people that morning.

Around noon, Susan called.

“Urgh… Waah…” It was sobbing.

Madisyn inquired, “What’s wrong? Susan, what happened to your grandpa?”

“Waaah… Waah… I only just found out what happened to you. Are you alright? Were you in a car accident?” Susan sobbed, blaming herself.

“I’m okay.”

Madisyn started a video call to put Susan at ease.

Seeing Madisyn alive and well brought tears of relief to Susan’s eyes. “I’m so relieved you’re okay. Was it an accident?”

“It wasn’t an accident. Jenna was involved. She’s been put in prison now.”

Susan was remorseful. “I had no idea what happened to you. I’m so sorry.”

“Don’t worry about it,” Madisyn said, comforting her. “Your grandpa just woke up. It’s only right that you focus on taking care of him and not let other things stress you out.”
