Chapter 316
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 316:
âAlright,â Susan said with a nod, though her expression still showed signs of concern.
âMy grandfatherâs health has improved significantly now. Are you free for dinner this evening, Madisyn? Feel free to bring Mr. Klein along if youâd like,â she added.
âThat sounds good to me,â Madisyn responded with a smile.
Once she ended the call, Madisyn promptly called Andrew to tell him about the dinner plan.
Meanwhile, in the CEOâs office at Klein Group, Andrew was seated comfortably on the sofa, pouring himself a cup of coffee, while Dane sat across from him. They were discussing a business partnership that had been progressing smoothly. Dane was somewhat taken aback by how agreeable Andrew was; heâd never seen him so relaxed and easygoing.
He then decided to shift the conversation to more personal topics and asked, âHow does your grandfather feel about your marriage with Madisyn?â
âMy grandfather is very supportive of it. Heâs quite fond of Madisyn,â Andrew replied.
âThatâs great to hear,â Dane said, taking a sip of his coffee. Just then, Andrewâs phone rang, and his face softened as he picked up the call.
Dane could make out Madisynâs voice faintly on the line. Once the call ended, he asked, âSo, was that Madisyn inviting you to dinner this evening?â
âYes, thatâs right,â Andrew affirmed.
Noticing Daneâs reaction, he quickly asked, âWould you like to join us?â
Dane cleared his throat before replying, âSince youâve extended the invitation, Iâll come along. I hope I wonât be an inconvenience.â
âNot at all,â Andrew assured him, maintaining a modest tone.
Dane was starting to feel more pleased with Andrew. At six oâclock that evening, Susan arrived at the restaurant and waited eagerly for Madisyn to show up.
She had selected a charming venue with a delightful ambiance, complete with the soft strains of live piano music filling the air.
Before long, Madisyn arrived at the restaurant.
After they exchanged pleasantries, Susan asked with curiosity, âSo, whereâs your boyfriend?â
âHeâll be arriving shortly,â Madisyn replied with a warm smile.
As expected, Andrew arrived soon after. He made quite an impression as he walked through the door. However, there was a tall, imposing figure accompanying him. The restaurant seemed to light up as the two men entered. Susan was shocked to see the man who was with Andrew.
Andrew and Dane were just as surprised, stopping dead in their tracks when they saw Susan.
Madisyn was also startled when she saw Dane. At that moment, each person had a whirlwind of thoughts running through their minds.
Finally, Andrew broke the silence with a slight chuckle. âMadisyn, I didnât expect to see your friend here.â
âOh, yes, Iâm sorry I forgot to mention it,â Madisyn said, a touch of guilt in her voice as she looked apologetically at Susan.
Daneâs handsome features momentarily tightened, but then a hint of pleasure appeared in his eyes as he glanced at Susan. âSince your friend is here, Iâll take my leave,â he said.
âOh, itâs alright. Letâs have dinner together,â Susan suggested gently, feeling a bit awkward. She knew it wouldnât be polite to ask Dane to leave, especially since he was Madisynâs brother.
Dane, hearing this, made no objections and settled into the seat beside Susan.
Andrew took his place next to Madisyn.
The mood was a bit tense. Susan turned to Madisyn and offered, âPlease order whatever you like to eat.â
Madisyn nodded and picked a few dishes. Then Susan turned to Dane, striving to keep her tone even, and said, âWhat about you? Feel free to order whatever you like.â
âSure thing,â he responded, quickly scanning the menu before choosing the simplest dish and a pot of hot strawberry milk.
Madisyn noticed this and couldnât help but tease, âDane, when did you start drinking hot strawberry milk? Isnât that more of a girlâs drink?â
She hadnât expected Dane to deviate so much from his usual self.
But as soon as Madisyn made the comment, it hit her. Since she and Susan typically had their periods around the same time, it must be that time for Susan.
Madisyn quickly connected the dots and gave Dane a knowing glance. Dane replied calmly, âItâs cold outside. Drinking something warm will do you good. I ordered it for you.â
âOh, okay,â Madisyn said, though she wasnât convinced at all.
She looked back and forth between Dane and Susan with increasing curiosity. Dane kept casting furtive glances at Susan, who remained focused on ordering more dishes, seemingly oblivious to his attention.
Throughout dinner, Susan mostly chatted with Madisyn.
At one point, she turned to Madisyn and Andrew and said, âMadisyn, itâs clear how well you and Mr. Klein go together. You guys make such a great match.â
âOh, thank you,â Madisyn responded with a shy smile.
âIâm speaking the truth,â Susan said with a smile, a touch of admiration in her voice. âI genuinely envy what you two have.â
Itâs not often you come across a couple who are not only a perfect match but also genuinely in love. Dane turned to Susan, observing her quietly.
Susan felt her cheeks flush under his steady gaze, but she chose to ignore it.
After dinner, Susan wasnât quite ready to part ways.
âHow about we go shopping?â she suggested.
âThat sounds great,â Madisyn agreed enthusiastically. Nearby, there was a market filled with various stores offering clothes and jewelry.
Susan and Madisyn strolled through the market, browsing different clothes and jewelry, while Andrew and Dane trailed closely behind them.
Dane paused at a display featuring a raindrop-shaped necklace, studying it thoughtfully.
As Susan went to settle her bill, Dane stepped up to the cashier too, placing two raindrop-shaped necklaces on the counter. âIâll pay for them both,â he said.
âCertainly, sir. The total comes to eight hundred and forty dollars,â the cashier replied.
Dane completed the payment and handed the necklaces to Madisyn. âThese are for you.â
She stared at the two identical necklaces in confusion as she tried to understand the meaning behind the gesture.
