Chapter 340
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 340:
Andrewâs gaze hardened as he looked up. âWhat is it?â
âNortonâs back,â he announced.
Andrew fell silent, his expression unreadable.
Madisyn blinked, confusion flickering in her eyes. Jada? Who was she? The name sounded like it belonged to a woman, but in all the time Madisyn had known Andrew, he had never shown any interest in other women. She had always assumed he didnât have any female friends.
Norton continued, a grin on his face, âArenât you excited, Andrew? Jada has been abroad for years, and now sheâs finally returning. Weâll have a gathering, and you have to come!â
Andrewâs response was cold and distant. âWeâll see.â
Nortonâs irritation was palpable. âAndrew, why are you acting so detached?â
Andrewâs response was a sharp, icy stareâenough to silence any further questioning.
Just as Norton gathered himself to say more, his gaze landed on Madisyn on the sofa. His eyes widened in disbelief. âWhoâs she? Your girlfriend?â
There was no way the rumors about Andrewâs girlfriend were true. The idea seemed absurd! Andrew, who had always kept women at armâs length, now had a girlfriend?
âYes,â Andrew replied, his voice flat but unyielding.
Norton gasped in astonishment. His mind racedâthis didnât make sense! Someone else, someone not meant for Andrew, was now here. Barely regaining his composure, Norton mumbled, âI have to go!â
As he stepped out of the office and into the hallway, his cellphone buzzed.
âNorton, itâs been too long,â came a sultry, confident voice from the other end of the line.
Nortonâs demeanor shifted instantly, his usual defiance crumbling. âJada, have you decided when you will come back?â
âIâm almost done with my last fragrance. Iâll be back by the end of the month.â Jadaâs voice was steady, yet there was an underlying expectation. âWill you come to see me when I return?â she asked calmly.
Norton sighed, knowing what he couldnât say. âIâm afraid he wonât be able to.â He kept the truth about Madisyn to himself. If Jada found out, it would hurt her. In his eyes, Madisyn wasnât the right fit for Andrew. Jada, with her brilliance and unique talents, seemed destined for him.
She was part of a secretive organization, which Norton himself hadnât been able to enter. Though she was still in her trial period, Jadaâs abilities were undeniable. To Norton, a woman needed to be as exceptional as Jada to truly stand beside Andrew.
Back in the office, after Nortonâs departure, Madisyn casually scrolled through her phone, seemingly unfazed. Andrew glanced at her, waiting for a reaction that never came. He finally broke the silence. âDonât you have any questions?â
Madisyn looked up briefly, then returned to her snack. âNope. Why? Should I?â She smiled, her tone light. âIâm not going to control who youâre friends with.â
Andrewâs expression darkened, his voice low. âAlright.â He knew Madisyn wasnât the jealous type, but a part of him wished she was. He needed her, and only her, in his life.
After Andrew wrapped up his work, they headed to a restaurant for dinnerâsomething they hadnât done in a while. Madisynâs mood lifted; it felt good to be out together.
They chose a table by the window, a perfect spot for people-watching. As they settled in, a car pulled up across the street.
In the car, Tatiana watched Madisyn and Andrew through narrowed eyes. âCorbett, you have to believe me. This pregnancy is Andrewâs downfall. Sheâs too naive, just a pawn in my hands. Being with her will only drag him down.â
Tatiana looked at Corbett pleadingly and added, âPlease give me another chance!â
Corbettâs expression remained cold, his eyes calculating as he weighed her words. âIf Courtneyâs really carrying Andrewâs child, why are they still sitting there so peacefully? I doubt Madisyn would be this calm if it were true.â
Tatiana leaned closer, her voice a whisper. âWomen are all jealous, Corbett. Madisyn knows Andrew is the best sheâll ever have. She wonât let go that easily. A sly smile curled on her lips. And if Glenn and his family catch wind of this, it will cause a riftâsomething we can use to our advantage.â
Corbett considered this, a glint of interest in his eyes. âYou may have a point. Alright, Iâll give you another chance.â
Relief washed over Tatiana, but it was tainted with bitterness. She had always been warnedârelationships among the wealthy required constant calculation. Corbett didnât love her; he would be with her only as long as she was useful. The realization stung, contrasting sharply with the simplicity of her past with Howard, where she could be carefree, protected by his unwavering support.
But Tatiana quickly masked her feelings, flashing a seductive smile. âDonât you think about me, Corbett?â she purred, slipping her hand toward his crotch.
Corbett smirked, his thoughts dark. What would her adoring fans think if they saw her nowâthe âpure goddessâ exposed as anything but? But he didnât resist her advances.
An hour later, after a rough encounter in the backseat, Corbett coldly shoved Tatiana out of the car and sped off, leaving her standing alone in the wind.
Tatiana clenched her fists, anger bubbling beneath her polished exterior. How dare he discard her so ruthlessly the moment he was done!
