Chapter 347

Comeback Of The Adored Heiress

Chapter 347:

Glenn’s gaze was equally frosty as he watched Sarai and Courtney leave. Sarai gave a disdainful snort before turning to Courtney. “What is our next move? Andrew is now the focus of online criticism, but he still refuses to talk to me, and Madisyn remains so calm. What if Andrew insists on not acknowledging my child?”

“Don’t worry, Courtney. Remember, Dora has proposed a backup plan. If our current strategy fails, we’ll resort to that. By then, public pressure will have built up so much that Andrew won’t be able to ignore you, no matter how much he might want to,” a glint of cold resolve appeared in Sarai’s eyes.

“But…” Courtney placed a hand on her belly. After all, this was her first child, and she was still reluctant to consider abortion.

“We’ll just have to wait and see for now!”

The days dragged on. Online discussions about the Klein Group grew more heated with each passing day, with everyone speculating on how Andrew would handle the situation regarding the child. During a board meeting, the issue was inevitably brought up.

Corbett sat back, enjoying the unfolding drama with a smirk. This was the first major scandal to hit since Andrew had taken the reins of the Klein Group.

One of the directors spoke up. “Andrew, as your reputation directly affects the group, shouldn’t you address the rumors personally?”

“The baby is not mine. I have nothing to do with Courtney. My girlfriend is Madisyn,” Andrew declared, his dark, piercing eyes scanning the entire room.

The room fell silent as everyone exchanged nervous glances, too intimidated to speak up. Despite the fact that many in the room were older than Andrew, his formidable presence cowed them.

Corbett interjected, “Why should we take your word for it? Courtney claims you’re the father of her child. She’s not just some woman you picked up in a bar—she’s from the Johns family.”

“Even though she’s from the Johns family, she’s not Mr. Glenn Johns’s daughter,” Andrew replied icily. “What’s crucial for our company is addressing our project issues, not indulging in these trivial personal matters.”

The mood shifted to seriousness as everyone moved on from the topic, turning their attention to other matters. After the meeting, Corbett stood next to Andrew and remarked, “Andrew, I realize you’re even more ruthless than I am. You could abandon your own child without a second thought. I couldn’t do that.”

“If you want to take responsibility for that child, you’re welcome to claim it,” Andrew said dismissively before walking off.

Corbett’s expression grew grim. It was clear that Andrew was resolute in his decision not to acknowledge the child. He quickly dialed his mother’s number. “Andrew’s position is unmistakable. He has no intention of accepting the child.”

“That’s so typical of Andrew,” Dora replied, with a hint of malice. “It looks like we’ll have to go with the backup plan after all.”

As night fell, Madisyn and Andrew enjoyed a rare candlelight dinner together. Madisyn asked, “Is Courtney’s situation affecting you?”

“It does have an impact, but it’s not a big deal. It will blow over soon,” Andrew said as he poured himself some red wine. They clinked their glasses together and took a sip.

When Madisyn finished her glass of wine, her cheeks flushed slightly. She looked up to find Andrew’s gaze filled with a smoldering intensity, like a wild predator ready to pounce. Feeling herself blush, Madisyn lowered her gaze and focused on her meal, trying to ignore the heat of his stare.

“Sweetheart, you look absolutely stunning,” Andrew said, his voice low and alluring. “There must be plenty of people who are attracted to you, don’t you think?”

“No one’s attracted to me,” Madisyn replied simply, showing that she didn’t care much about it.

Just then, her phone rang. She glanced at it, reluctant to answer, but the persistent ringing started to irritate her. “What is it?” she snapped.

“Madisyn, I’ve been handling my company well lately,” Gilbert’s voice sounded more mature and composed than before. “It’s been a while since we last saw each other. I saw online that Andrew has a child with another woman. Are you alright? Can I come by to see you?”

“You can’t,” Madisyn replied curtly before hanging up the phone.

Andrew’s expression darkened. “Gilbert? He seems to care about you. Isn’t he attracted to you?”

“His affection is pure; he has ulterior motives,” Madisyn said, having seen through Gilbert’s intentions.

As Andrew looked at Madisyn, he felt an unexplainable wave of pity for her. Madisyn shifted the conversation. “What about you? I’m sure there must be many women who admire you, right?”
