Chapter 349
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 349:
Saraiâs statement swiftly evoked sympathy from everyone in the hospital room. A few hours later, the reporters wrapped up their coverage and exited the hospital, leaving Courtney and Sarai alone.
Once Sarai shut the door behind them, Courtney let out a sigh of relief. âMom, could you get me some water? My throat is dry from all that crying.â Sarai handed Courtney a glass of water, which she drank in one gulp. Eagerly, she checked her phone to follow the unfolding situation online. As she scrolled through the posts, a smile spread across her face. âMom, Doraâs plan is harsh, but it is incredibly effective. Iâve never seen one issue capture the publicâs attention like this before.â
âDora certainly lives up to the Klein familyâs reputation,â Sarai agreed, though she looked at Courtney with a hint of concern. âItâs unfortunate that this has affected your health. But once you marry Andrew, you must take extra care of yourself to recover.â
âDonât worry about it, Mom. If I get to Andrew, itâll all be worth it,â Courtney replied casually. She had become obsessed with joining the Klein family and was prepared to do whatever it took. After her father was imprisoned, she realized that making her own way up the social ladder was her only option.
Just then, Doraâs call came through. âYou did a great job. The Klein Group is facing serious trouble now. Damari has already been inundated with calls,â Dora said approvingly. âDamari has asked Andrew to come home tomorrow, and you should join him.â
âGot it,â Sarai responded. However, she remained uneasy. âDo you really think Damari will agree to the marriage?â
Dora pondered the question. âBased on what I know about Damari, itâs possible. Even if the marriage doesnât happen, the Klein family will owe you a favor. Damari will ensure youâre compensated.â
âIâll try to convince him to agree to the marriage tomorrow,â Sarai said with determination.
Courtneyâs eyes gleamed as she looked at her mother. âMom, you have to make this work! Iâve sacrificed so muchâI need to make it count!â
âOf course, dear,â Sarai agreed, affectionately stroking Courtneyâs hair, though a sharp, calculating glint flashed in her eyes.
It continued to drizzle through the night, and the next day broke with a gray, somber sky. Madisyn woke early and accompanied Andrew to the Klein Manor.
During the drive, Elaine called to check on Madisyn. She reassured her that she was fine and there was nothing to worry about.
Elaine couldnât shake her anxiety. âCourtney is incredibly manipulativeâshe sacrificed her own baby just to set you both up! Unbelievable!â
âMom, donât stress. In the end, their schemes will only come back to haunt them.â
âBut with the baby gone, we canât do a paternity test. How are we supposed to prove that the baby wasnât Andrewâs?â Elaine was still worried.
Madisyn looked at Andrew and remarked, âHe must have been ready for this.â
Andrew replied calmly, âTell your mother that weâll sort everything out today.â
Andrew had initially intended to postpone matters, but with Madisyn now facing criticism, he felt he could no longer remain passive. He resolved to put an end to it all today.
Madisyn passed on Andrewâs message to Elaine, who sighed in response. âOkay, letâs hope things turn out well.â
At the Klein Manor, Madisyn trailed closely behind Andrew as they entered the living room. Just as they stepped through the door, something shattered at their feet.
âYou bastard!â Damari roared from the sofa, his anger palpable.
Courtney was nearby, dabbing at her face and looking completely distraught, while Dora stood quietly to one side.
Madisynâs heart raced. She hadnât expected Damariâs anger to be so intense. It was evident that Courtneyâs scheme had hit a nerve, tapping into Damariâs deep sense of justice.
Damariâs rage subsided slightly when he saw Madisyn. His previously fierce expression softened as he said, âMadisyn, come here and sit.â
Madisyn and Andrew took their seats, and Damari looked at Madisyn with a look of regret. âMadisyn, Iâm deeply sorry. I must not have raised Andrew properly; otherwise, we wouldnât be dealing with this now.â
âMr. Klein, please donât say that,â Madisyn responded soothingly. âI believe Andrew would never do anything so dishonorable.â
Her composed manner gained her some favor in Damariâs eyes. He then turned to Andrew and asked, âAndrew, did you cause the miscarriage?â
âI had nothing to do with it,â Andrew replied coolly.
Hearing that, Sarai began to weep, even dropping to her knees in front of Damari. âMr. Klein, I had no option but to come to you. Courtney was just making her way down the stairs when someone pushed her. By the time I reached her, she was lying in a pool of blood.â
Saraiâs display of despair was so convincing that anyone who heard her might feel a pang of sympathy. Madisyn interjected, âYou mentioned Courtney was going down the stairsâwhere exactly did this happen?â
Sarai sobbed as she said, âWe were at a restaurant.â
Madisyn scoffed. âThere are so many restaurants in town. Itâs quite a coincidence you chose one with stairs.â The sarcasm in Madisynâs voice made Sarai sob even more.
âWe just wanted to have a simple meal. If I had known this would happen, I would have avoided the place. Madisyn, how can you still mock us now? Courtney is your cousin!â
Or were you also behind this because you didnât want Andrew to marry Courtney?â
