Chapter 369
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 369:
This hair tie was once taken off from Madisynâs headâAndrew had kept it, waiting for the perfect moment to return it when Madisyn needed it again.
âItâs just a hair tie. Surely Madisyn wouldnât be that stingy, right?â Wesley shrugged as he spoke.
In front of so many people, if Madisyn refused, she risked upsetting the entire group. Yet, her expression remained neutral.
Andrewâs gaze turned cold.
Before he could say anything, Jada intervened. âWesley, thatâs uncalled for. A girlfriendâs hair tie holds significance. Itâs not something to be shared casually with outsiders.â
âBut Jada, youâre hardly an outsider,â Wesley retorted. âWhatâs the point of keeping it if itâs not being used?â
The other men, deeming the hair tie insignificant, silently agreed with Wesley.
If Madisyn couldnât part with something as simple as a hair tie, that would indeed seem petty.
Without hesitation, Andrew pressed the service bell.
Promptly, a server approached, and Andrew requested, âBring us a hair tie, please.â
The server returned shortly and presented a hair tie to Jada.
The group fell into an awkward silence, but Jada smiled appreciatively. âAndrew is the wise one among us. Take a lesson from himâthatâs how you handle such situations gracefully.â
Madisyn couldnât resist giving Jada a second glance. The hair tie held little value to her; she had remained silent only to gauge Andrew and Jadaâs reactions. Andrewâs response aligned with her expectations and pleased her. Jadaâs reaction, however, caught her off guard. Though Jada had always seemed kind and gentle, Madisyn suspected there was more to herâa carefully maintained facade. Yet, keeping up such a facade wasnât something just anyone could do.
A flicker of intrigue sparked in Madisynâs eyes.
The moment passed, fading into the background as the conversation shifted to focus on Jada.
âJada, are you planning to join your fatherâs company now that youâre back?â Wesley asked.
âYes, my father has always wanted me to step into the family business.â
âOh, youâre so exceptional. Riggs Group will surely thrive with you. When the time comes, you must collaborate closely with us.â
Jada smiled warmly. âActually, I should be the one eager to work with all of you.â
âAs long as youâre interested, Jada, any partnership you want, consider it done!â Wesley replied eagerly, glancing around at the others. âRight, everyone?â
âRight!â They all nodded.
Madisynâs heart fluttered. The young men gathered here were from Arasportâs most influential families. This meant Jada had access to incredible resources. In that light, what would become of Susan?
Though they came from the same family and shared the same father, the way people treated them was worlds apart. With Jada in the picture, Susanâs chances of making a name for herself in the company seemed slim.
âMadisyn, what are you thinking about?â Jadaâs soothing voice snapped her back to reality.
âOh, just that your father has another daughter, right?â
Jada looked slightly surprised. âAre you talking about Susan? What about her?â
âThough youâre both from the Riggs family, thereâs quite a gap between you two,â Madisyn remarked, watching Jadaâs expression carefully.
Was Jada unaware of the schemes Mara had used against Susan, or was she just pretending?
In truth, Madisyn already knew the answer.
Jada responded warmly, âMy sister doesnât really enjoy working at Riggs Group. She has her own passions. But I believe it doesnât matter who leads the company between us. Even if I inherit it, our dividends will be the same. After our parents pass, it will just be the two of us, and she will undoubtedly be the most important person in my world.â
âJada, how is that fair?â Wesley interjected, his tone disapproving. âSheâs useless. Why should she get anything from the company?â
âShut up!â Jada snapped, her complexion paling with anger. âWesley, youâve crossed the line.â
Stunned by her outburst, Wesley immediately clammed up.
The room fell silent. The others seemed ready to speak but chose to hold their tongues at that critical moment.
Madisyn felt a weight in her heartâJadaâs influence was much greater than she had previously realized.
In a barely audible grumble, Wesley muttered, âSusan really is useless.â
âAnd what about you?â Madisyn retorted coolly, her voice cutting through the tension. âIâve heard you barely engage in family matters, wasting your days on races and frivolities. If weâre making comparisons, who really is the useless one here?â
âWhat gives you the right to talk to me like that?â Wesley flared up, his face a portrait of indignation.
âAnd what gives you the right to pass judgment on others like that?â Madisynâs sharp gaze pierced Wesley, sending a shiver down his spine. How could such a formidable aura come from someone who seemed so fragile?
Reluctantly, Wesley fell silent, eager to escape her scrutiny.
âAlright, Wesley, you were out of line,â Jada interjected, her tone a mix of reproach and conciliation. âRemarks like that will only cause trouble for you. Letâs just enjoy our meal.â
After dinner, they left the private room.
Wesley trailed behind Jada as they approached Andrewâs Rolls-Royce. He scanned the area but didnât see the driver.
âJada, I canât drive you home today; I have another engagement. You should go with Andrew,â he quickly suggested.
Jada exchanged a brief look with Andrew, who gave a subtle nod in agreement.
Wesley, seizing the opportunity to show his politeness, opened the passenger door. âJada, please, get in the car. You should rest. The long flight must have been exhausting.â
âI wonât sit in the front,â Jada stated firmly. âThe front passenger seat is usually reserved for the girlfriend.â
âCome on, weâre all friends here. No need to be so particular about it!â Wesley urged.
Reluctantly, Jada slid into the front seat.
