Chapter 393
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 393:
But it was already too late. The remaining half of the wire snapped, sending Milly hurtling through the air. It was a three-story plunge. If she hit the ground, she faced either death or serious injury.
The crew screamed in terror, but Tatiana alone watched with a sinister gleam of satisfaction and anticipation in her eyes. âGo to hell, Milly! If youâre gone, Howard will be mine. He was never yours to begin with!â she muttered to herself.
However, when panic gripped everyone, Milly twisted mid-air, landing with astonishing grace. She rolled smoothly a few times before standing up, composed and unshaken. She stood among the crew, her gaze icy and unmoved. In that moment, she seemed to command the night like a dark queen.
The crew was speechless, mesmerized by her flawless execution.
âThat was amazing!â
âMilly is incredible!â
âSheâs extraordinary!â
Victor exhaled in relief and patted Kendall on the back. âKendall, I didnât expect you to train her so well.â Victor was dumbfounded that this seemingly delicate girl could possess such skill. He assumed Kendall, with his mercenary background, might have taught Milly some combat techniques. But Kendall scowled and brushed off Victorâs hand. What an idiot! If he hung around Victor too long, he might end up as clueless as Victor was.
âWho checked the wire? How did no one catch this?â Victor scolded the crew, then turned to Milly. âMilly, go take a break.â
Milly nodded and walked away, her face a mask of unreadable calm.
Tatiana gripped her teacup tightly.
âDamn, Milly!â
âTatiana, thereâs something strange about Milly,â the assistant murmured. âDo you think sheâs skilled in martial arts?â
Tatiana shivered, recalling how Milly had effortlessly grabbed Kiley with one hand before.
âHmph, she just got lucky this time.â
Milly settled in a quiet corner, absorbed in her script.
âAre you Milly?â
A voice came from behind.
Milly turned to see a woman, the same one who had been having a video call with Howard the other day. She remained silent, waiting for the woman to continue.
Nalani Pierce, filled with bitterness, inquired, âHow long have you been with Howard?â
Since discovering Howard had a girlfriend, she had been uneasy. Even though she thought Howard was not as good as she had imagined before, she couldnât resist coming to see the woman who had captured his attention. And indeed, Milly was breathtakingly beautiful.
âWhatâs it to you?â Millyâs reply was as frosty as the winter air.
Nalani shivered at the coldness in her tone. âDonât be nervous. Iâm not here to make trouble; Iâm just curious about how you and Howard ended up together.â
Nalaniâs bitterness was evident. âI loved Howard for years, but I know I will never have him. I just want to understand why youâre the one heâs with.â
Millyâs eyes sparkled with icy amusement. âAre you kidding me? I know a lot, but you donât understand. I love Howard. No other man has ever mattered to me,â Nalani confessed, her voice heavy with unspoken sorrow.
She had met this wonderful man in her youth who became the love of her life, and since then, no one else could replace him in her heart.
âI have nothing to say to you,â Milly said, turning her attention back to her script.
Nalani stumbled at Millyâs chilling demeanor. Why would Howard be drawn to someone so aloof? He was such a gentle soul; shouldnât he be with someone equally warm? Nalani had always imagined Milly to be kind and worthy of Howard. But the reality was a far cry from her ideal.
A thought struck Nalani: âAre you really with Howard, or is he just using you as an excuse?â
âLeave!â Milly said, her voice as cold as ice.
âI just want to know the truth,â Nalaniâs unease deepened with Millyâs frosty response.
In an instant, a flash of lethal intent crossed Millyâs face. âI told you to leave!â
Before Nalani could react, Millyâs hand shot out, tightening around her throat. Nalaniâs eyes widened in terror as she gazed into Millyâs lifeless eyes. She struggled for breath, her tongue hanging out, feeling as though she was suffocating.
But just as quickly, Milly released her grip, clutching her own head in agony, as if tormented by some inner pain. Nalani collapsed to the floor, stunned and unable to comprehend what had just happened. Was this woman even human?
She trembled, and as she made to flee, a dark figure appeared, swiftly whisking Milly away. In the blink of an eye, Milly vanished from view.
