Chapter 404

Comeback Of The Adored Heiress

Chapter 404:

Corbett’s heart raced. Did his grandfather suspect he was behind Andrew’s troubles? Not knowing the full story, he argued, “That’s true. You know Corbett is capable. Why make him the CEO then? Are you really this biased toward Andrew?”

Damari’s expression turned icy. “Dora, is this how you really see me?”

“I don’t want to think that way, but your actions leave us no choice,” Dora shot back immediately.

“Are you trying to pressure me into changing the CEO today?” Damari asked with a frosty tone.

“We can’t force you, but we’re hoping you’ll be fair to both grandsons. Damari, do you really want to see the company ruined by Andrew? Everyone will blame you!” Dora said loudly, not caring if she would anger Damari further for the sake of her son’s future. “The CEO must be changed today!”

A flash of anger crossed Damari’s face, but he quickly clutched his chest, wincing in pain.

Bruno cried out, “Damari, are you okay?”

“Do you share the same opinion as your wife?” Damari gasped, his face contorted with pain, but he still managed to ask the question.

Bruno avoided meeting his gaze and said, “I think Corbett is truly exceptional, but it seems you only favor Andrew. Isn’t that unfair to Corbett?”

“Bruno, over the years, you never really cared about me or the company. Your mind is always preoccupied with…” Damari’s pain made it hard for him to continue.

“Hurry up and call the doctor!” Bruno urged urgently.

Dora was about to leave but hesitated.

Damari had always struggled with health issues. If he became seriously ill now, he might no longer be able to get involved in company matters. At that point, she would work with the board to replace Andrew. Others wouldn’t be as biased as Damari; given the severity of the incident, many might push for Andrew’s replacement.

Noticing she was still standing there, Bruno called out, “What are you waiting for? Go ahead and call the doctor right away!”

“I know. My phone’s in the room. I’ll get it,” Dora replied, then walked slowly into the room. She took her time to call the doctor.

As dusk settled over Ansportr, a piece of news began to spread like wildfire. Damari had fallen ill and was in the hospital. The situation was critical.

The moment Madisyn saw the news, she called Andrew immediately.

“How is your grandpa? Has he woken up?”

“His condition is stable, but he’s still unconscious,” Andrew responded hoarsely.

Damari was the only person who had been kind to Andrew in his family, so he must be feeling very anxious right now.

“I’m coming right away,” Madisyn said with determination.

Andrew replied, “I’m not at the hospital right now. I’m heading to the Klein Group. Corbett is calling a board meeting—”

“What?” Madisyn realized Corbett’s plan. “He’s trying to seize control while your grandpa is in a coma.”

“Yes.” Andrew’s expression darkened. He suspected that Corbett was somehow involved in Damari’s coma. Corbett had crossed a line this time—his ambition for power had driven him to betray his own grandfather.

“Corbett is truly despicable!” Madisyn couldn’t help but scold Corbett. “What should we do now? Have you found out what caused the explosion?”

“Not yet, but we have a lead. The victims’ son appears to be missing, which has them very distressed. If we can locate their son, they might reveal the truth.” Andrew glanced at his watch and added, “I have to go now.”

“Alright, you go ahead.”

Once she hung up the phone, Madisyn felt a pang of anxiety. “It’s time,” she said as the little boy approached her with his large, dark eyes that resembled grapes.

“Alright,” Madisyn said as she scooped up the boy and headed toward the canteen.

She didn’t make the connection between the missing child and the little boy because the couple was over 40, suggesting their child should be at least twenty, while the boy was only four years old.

While they were eating, Madisyn got a call from the police.

“We have a couple here who might be the parents of the boy you found earlier.”

“Is that so? Okay. I’ll come over shortly,” Madisyn said. “If you have any photos of the couple, please send them over—I’ll show them to the boy.”

Turning to the little boy, Madisyn said, “A couple went to the police station, but I’m not sure if they’re your parents.” The boy looked at her with eager anticipation. After a while, Madisyn received a photo and clicked on it.

The moment she saw the image, she was taken aback. They were the couple whose phone exploded.

The boy saw the photo as well and exclaimed, “Dad! Mom!”

Madisyn was stunned by the boy’s use of “Dad” and “Mom.”

“Are these your parents?” she asked.

“Yeah,” the boy replied with a tearful, childish voice. “Are they looking for me?”
