Chapter 404
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 404:
Corbettâs heart raced. Did his grandfather suspect he was behind Andrewâs troubles? Not knowing the full story, he argued, âThatâs true. You know Corbett is capable. Why make him the CEO then? Are you really this biased toward Andrew?â
Damariâs expression turned icy. âDora, is this how you really see me?â
âI donât want to think that way, but your actions leave us no choice,â Dora shot back immediately.
âAre you trying to pressure me into changing the CEO today?â Damari asked with a frosty tone.

âWe canât force you, but weâre hoping youâll be fair to both grandsons. Damari, do you really want to see the company ruined by Andrew? Everyone will blame you!â Dora said loudly, not caring if she would anger Damari further for the sake of her sonâs future. âThe CEO must be changed today!â
A flash of anger crossed Damariâs face, but he quickly clutched his chest, wincing in pain.
Bruno cried out, âDamari, are you okay?â
âDo you share the same opinion as your wife?â Damari gasped, his face contorted with pain, but he still managed to ask the question.
Bruno avoided meeting his gaze and said, âI think Corbett is truly exceptional, but it seems you only favor Andrew. Isnât that unfair to Corbett?â
âBruno, over the years, you never really cared about me or the company. Your mind is always preoccupied withâ¦â Damariâs pain made it hard for him to continue.
âHurry up and call the doctor!â Bruno urged urgently.
Dora was about to leave but hesitated.
Damari had always struggled with health issues. If he became seriously ill now, he might no longer be able to get involved in company matters. At that point, she would work with the board to replace Andrew. Others wouldnât be as biased as Damari; given the severity of the incident, many might push for Andrewâs replacement.
Noticing she was still standing there, Bruno called out, âWhat are you waiting for? Go ahead and call the doctor right away!â
âI know. My phoneâs in the room. Iâll get it,â Dora replied, then walked slowly into the room. She took her time to call the doctor.
As dusk settled over Ansportr, a piece of news began to spread like wildfire. Damari had fallen ill and was in the hospital. The situation was critical.
The moment Madisyn saw the news, she called Andrew immediately.
âHow is your grandpa? Has he woken up?â
âHis condition is stable, but heâs still unconscious,â Andrew responded hoarsely.
Damari was the only person who had been kind to Andrew in his family, so he must be feeling very anxious right now.
âIâm coming right away,â Madisyn said with determination.
Andrew replied, âIâm not at the hospital right now. Iâm heading to the Klein Group. Corbett is calling a board meetingââ
âWhat?â Madisyn realized Corbettâs plan. âHeâs trying to seize control while your grandpa is in a coma.â
âYes.â Andrewâs expression darkened. He suspected that Corbett was somehow involved in Damariâs coma. Corbett had crossed a line this timeâhis ambition for power had driven him to betray his own grandfather.
âCorbett is truly despicable!â Madisyn couldnât help but scold Corbett. âWhat should we do now? Have you found out what caused the explosion?â
âNot yet, but we have a lead. The victimsâ son appears to be missing, which has them very distressed. If we can locate their son, they might reveal the truth.â Andrew glanced at his watch and added, âI have to go now.â
âAlright, you go ahead.â
Once she hung up the phone, Madisyn felt a pang of anxiety. âItâs time,â she said as the little boy approached her with his large, dark eyes that resembled grapes.
âAlright,â Madisyn said as she scooped up the boy and headed toward the canteen.
She didnât make the connection between the missing child and the little boy because the couple was over 40, suggesting their child should be at least twenty, while the boy was only four years old.
While they were eating, Madisyn got a call from the police.
âWe have a couple here who might be the parents of the boy you found earlier.â
âIs that so? Okay. Iâll come over shortly,â Madisyn said. âIf you have any photos of the couple, please send them overâIâll show them to the boy.â
Turning to the little boy, Madisyn said, âA couple went to the police station, but Iâm not sure if theyâre your parents.â The boy looked at her with eager anticipation. After a while, Madisyn received a photo and clicked on it.
The moment she saw the image, she was taken aback. They were the couple whose phone exploded.
The boy saw the photo as well and exclaimed, âDad! Mom!â
Madisyn was stunned by the boyâs use of âDadâ and âMom.â
âAre these your parents?â she asked.
âYeah,â the boy replied with a tearful, childish voice. âAre they looking for me?â
