Chapter 421

Comeback Of The Adored Heiress

Chapter 421:

Madisyn was convinced. Assassins had to master various skills, including how to act, which explained why Milly was such a convincing actress.

“Alright, head back and get ready. You’ll start filming tomorrow.”

Once Milly departed, Madisyn rang up Andrew to fill him in.

“Leaving the Serpentine Players isn’t straightforward,” Andrew said.

“Indeed, so let’s hope they can’t find Milly. Sweetie, I’m relying on you,” Madisyn said warmly.

The way Madisyn called Andrew “sweetie” had a soft and endearing quality that touched Andrew deeply. His eyes twinkled with amusement, but his voice carried a playful scold as he said, “So, you only use that nickname when you need something? I would like to hear it more often.”

“That’s just too cheesy for me. I’m not doing it,” Madisyn replied firmly.

Andrew, a bit disappointed, scratched his nose. “Alright. By the way, I got a call from Waylon yesterday.”

“Waylon?”

“Yes. He’s feeling the strain of constantly being overseas and missing out on time with everyone.”

Madisyn pictured Waylon’s troubled expression when he spoke of his difficulties, which she found slightly amusing. Waylon had been overseas for quite some time. She phoned him, and as soon as he answered, he began venting.

Their conversation was lengthy. As they were about to say goodbye, someone came to visit Waylon.

Upon spotting this person, Waylon panicked. “Oh no, why is he here again?”

“What’s the matter?”

“Ah, I can’t talk right now. She’s been hounding me a lot lately.” Waylon appeared genuinely bothered.

“Don’t you just turn her down? Is there anyone you can’t refuse?” Madisyn asked.

“It’s complicated. She’s the boss’s daughter.”

Clearly, Waylon was very charming if even the boss’s daughter showed interest in him. Waylon’s company was a leading business in the nation, and Tatiana also belonged to that company.

Madisyn joked, “If you end up with her, could you inherit the company?”

“Cut it out. I don’t like her at all. If this continues, I’m going to lose my mind!” Waylon sounded genuinely upset.

Madisyn couldn’t help but find Waylon’s predicaments amusing, making it difficult for her to feel sorry for him. “Hang in there, Waylon. If it gets too much, maybe try finding a girlfriend.”

“I’ll consider it if the opportunity arises.”

Then they ended the call.

As time moved on, the next day arrived. The recording for the variety show started. Upon Milly’s arrival at the venue, Tatiana was noticeably taken aback.

“Was Milly actually a guest on the show?”

This was bound to be interesting. They would compete, and it would become apparent to everyone the stark contrast between them, proving that Howard was only enamored with Milly for her beauty!

People were often initially captivated by Milly’s stunning looks, then their expressions soon grew complicated. They might be easily impressed by someone like Milly, but not Howard. In the eyes of many, Howard was as lofty and unreachable as the moon—how could he be merely attracted to someone like her?

Being placed on a high pedestal can sometimes be a burden. Howard’s predicament was a perfect illustration of this. People expected Howard to be with someone as remarkable as himself, not Milly.

As the variety show was about to kick off with the initial segment of forming teams and chatting, everyone engaged warmly, aiming to come off as friendly and gather more fans on camera. Tatiana picked two teammates first.

She extended the invitations, and they quickly accepted, not daring to decline, leaving the remaining two to turn their attention to Milly.

“Next, we move to our talent contest. Each team will pick a member to draw lots, and they must perform whatever comes up,” the host said. Tatiana drew and it was dancing.

She was pleased. “Looks like I’m on my side today!”

Seeing this, Milly’s team instantly felt a wave of discouragement. All three of Tatiana’s members were skilled dancers. Losing the contest meant facing the consequences.

“Why don’t you give it a try?” one of Milly’s teammates suggested to her.

Milly stepped up and pulled a card.

It showed acrobatics.

“Oh, it’s acrobatics. Are you able to do that?” the host inquired.

Milly and her two teammates looked utterly shocked. Acrobatics? They were entertainers, not circus performers! Milly certainly hadn’t lucked out with her draw!

The host joked, “Our guests are wearing troubled expressions. Perhaps they’re not good at this. No worries, we have professional trainers on hand to assist.” Tatiana’s team members appeared to relish the unfolding drama.

Even with professional help, mastering complex acrobatic routines in a short time was a tall order. They soon began their preparations.

The teammate who had encouraged Milly to draw looked disappointed. “You really drew the short straw. It looks like we’re bound for failure.”

Milly’s other teammate, with a round face, sighed and said, “There’s not much we can do about it. Even if one of us had drawn, the result could have been the same. The show likes to stir up a bit of drama, anyway!”
