Chapter 440

Comeback Of The Adored Heiress

Chapter 440:

Instinctively, Jada trailed Susan and discovered that she had headed to the gynecology department. Jada speculated whether Susan might be dealing with some illness. She understood that knowing both herself and her enemies was key to ensuring success, her eyes focused with intent. She led her upstairs to visit a doctor she knew well, eager to gather any information about Susan that might give her an edge.

It would be advantageous if Susan had a contagious illness…

However, Jada was taken aback when she discovered the true reason for Susan’s visit: she was there for a pregnancy test. Susan was expecting?

Could it be Dane’s child?

This news was certainly unfavorable for Jada. Her expression darkened.

“Her reaction upon discovering her pregnancy suggested that it was not good news for her,” the doctor commented. “I assume she’s pregnant before marriage.”

That seemed unlikely; Jada had heard at home that Susan was planning to tie the knot. Being pregnant at this time certainly seemed like good news—unless…

A thought crossed Jada’s mind, but she needed to verify if it was correct. Acting swiftly, she hired a private investigator to dig into Susan’s activities and uncover any relevant details.

By afternoon, Jada went back to the office to resume her work. The investigator’s work proceeded without a hitch.

“I have the results. Here is the surveillance footage from Tranquil Bay Hotel,” the investigator showed the evidence to Jada.

Jada examined the video and identified the man as Onyx. A smile spread across her face. Who would have guessed Onyx could be so instrumental? It seemed the child Susan was expecting was likely Onyx’s. It made sense why Susan appeared so distraught. Jada quickly picked up the phone to call her.

“Susan, how have you been? When are you and Dane planning to get married?” Jada inquired softly.

“What does that have to do with you?” Susan responded icily.

“There’s no need to be so harsh. Stressing out about the baby isn’t good,” Jada said with a pleasant smile.

Susan was silent for a moment before replying, “Jada, what are you talking about?”

“Expecting Onyx’s child—congratulations to both of you! If Onyx finds out, he’ll be overjoyed. Although he’s in jail right now, knowing he has a child on the way will bring him a lot of happiness,” Jada said, unable to suppress her laughter.

Susan’s fists clenched tightly. “Jada, stop with your nonsense!”

“Are you upset? As your sister, I don’t have to reveal your secret. Here’s the deal: give up the heirship of the Riggs Group and just marry Dane. We can keep this secret.”

“Keep dreaming!” Susan retorted angrily.

“Oh? So the Riggs Group is more important to you than Dane? I’ll give you one day to decide. If you don’t agree, Dane will find out the truth.” Jada ended the call.

Susan gripped her phone tightly, her face turning ashen. She didn’t even know the identity of her child’s father. When she discovered she was pregnant, she was so shocked that she barely remembered leaving the hospital.

Even if the child was Dane’s, she had been with Onyx. If the child was Onyx’s, it would be unfair to Dane. Everything felt like a betrayal to Dane.

Without this child, Susan might have nearly forgotten that night with Onyx. Overwhelmed with pain, she clutched her head tightly.

What should she do now?

Should she reveal the truth to Dane?

Dane would surely be furious, wouldn’t he?

Unable to hold back her tears, she started crying.

“Susan, what are you doing here?” a voice nearby asked. Susan froze and slowly looked up to see a familiar, handsome face filled with genuine concern. “What is wrong? Why are you crying? Who hurt you?”

Dane lifted Susan into his arms. “Tell me what hurt you. I’ll make sure they pay for it!”

Susan felt the warmth of Dane’s embrace, and her tears flowed even more freely. Seeing her in such distress, Dane was at a loss and gently wiped away her tears. “Susan, what’s happening? Please tell me. I’m really worried about you.”

Susan remained silent, her tears continuing to fall.

Her heart felt ripped open, a cold wind sweeping through and making her shiver.

Noticing how cold her cheeks were, Dane felt a sharp pang of sadness. “Susan, what’s wrong? You don’t have to be scared with me around. No matter who’s bothering you, I’ll protect you.”

Susan cried even more intensely.

It was because of his goodness—because he was so kind to Susan—that she felt such deep pain. He was such a good man, and she had betrayed him.

“My mom is waiting for us. Everyone’s already at the restaurant. We’re supposed to discuss our engagement today. If you’re like this, can we still go through with it?” Dane said, looking at Susan with concern.
