Chapter 440
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 440:
Instinctively, Jada trailed Susan and discovered that she had headed to the gynecology department. Jada speculated whether Susan might be dealing with some illness. She understood that knowing both herself and her enemies was key to ensuring success, her eyes focused with intent. She led her upstairs to visit a doctor she knew well, eager to gather any information about Susan that might give her an edge.
It would be advantageous if Susan had a contagious illnessâ¦
However, Jada was taken aback when she discovered the true reason for Susanâs visit: she was there for a pregnancy test. Susan was expecting?
Could it be Daneâs child?
This news was certainly unfavorable for Jada. Her expression darkened.
âHer reaction upon discovering her pregnancy suggested that it was not good news for her,â the doctor commented. âI assume sheâs pregnant before marriage.â
That seemed unlikely; Jada had heard at home that Susan was planning to tie the knot. Being pregnant at this time certainly seemed like good newsâunlessâ¦
A thought crossed Jadaâs mind, but she needed to verify if it was correct. Acting swiftly, she hired a private investigator to dig into Susanâs activities and uncover any relevant details.
By afternoon, Jada went back to the office to resume her work. The investigatorâs work proceeded without a hitch.
âI have the results. Here is the surveillance footage from Tranquil Bay Hotel,â the investigator showed the evidence to Jada.
Jada examined the video and identified the man as Onyx. A smile spread across her face. Who would have guessed Onyx could be so instrumental? It seemed the child Susan was expecting was likely Onyxâs. It made sense why Susan appeared so distraught. Jada quickly picked up the phone to call her.
âSusan, how have you been? When are you and Dane planning to get married?â Jada inquired softly.
âWhat does that have to do with you?â Susan responded icily.
âThereâs no need to be so harsh. Stressing out about the baby isnât good,â Jada said with a pleasant smile.
Susan was silent for a moment before replying, âJada, what are you talking about?â
âExpecting Onyxâs childâcongratulations to both of you! If Onyx finds out, heâll be overjoyed. Although heâs in jail right now, knowing he has a child on the way will bring him a lot of happiness,â Jada said, unable to suppress her laughter.
Susanâs fists clenched tightly. âJada, stop with your nonsense!â
âAre you upset? As your sister, I donât have to reveal your secret. Hereâs the deal: give up the heirship of the Riggs Group and just marry Dane. We can keep this secret.â
âKeep dreaming!â Susan retorted angrily.
âOh? So the Riggs Group is more important to you than Dane? Iâll give you one day to decide. If you donât agree, Dane will find out the truth.â Jada ended the call.
Susan gripped her phone tightly, her face turning ashen. She didnât even know the identity of her childâs father. When she discovered she was pregnant, she was so shocked that she barely remembered leaving the hospital.
Even if the child was Daneâs, she had been with Onyx. If the child was Onyxâs, it would be unfair to Dane. Everything felt like a betrayal to Dane.
Without this child, Susan might have nearly forgotten that night with Onyx. Overwhelmed with pain, she clutched her head tightly.
What should she do now?
Should she reveal the truth to Dane?
Dane would surely be furious, wouldnât he?
Unable to hold back her tears, she started crying.
âSusan, what are you doing here?â a voice nearby asked. Susan froze and slowly looked up to see a familiar, handsome face filled with genuine concern. âWhat is wrong? Why are you crying? Who hurt you?â
Dane lifted Susan into his arms. âTell me what hurt you. Iâll make sure they pay for it!â
Susan felt the warmth of Daneâs embrace, and her tears flowed even more freely. Seeing her in such distress, Dane was at a loss and gently wiped away her tears. âSusan, whatâs happening? Please tell me. Iâm really worried about you.â
Susan remained silent, her tears continuing to fall.
Her heart felt ripped open, a cold wind sweeping through and making her shiver.
Noticing how cold her cheeks were, Dane felt a sharp pang of sadness. âSusan, whatâs wrong? You donât have to be scared with me around. No matter whoâs bothering you, Iâll protect you.â
Susan cried even more intensely.
It was because of his goodnessâbecause he was so kind to Susanâthat she felt such deep pain. He was such a good man, and she had betrayed him.
âMy mom is waiting for us. Everyoneâs already at the restaurant. Weâre supposed to discuss our engagement today. If youâre like this, can we still go through with it?â Dane said, looking at Susan with concern.
