Chapter 442
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 442:
Instead of answering the question, Madisyn asked, âHow is he pursuing you?â
âMiss Johns, please donât listen to my assistant. Sheâs talking nonsense. He isnât pursuing me,â Maxine hurriedly said, glaring at her assistant. She didnât expect her assistant to talk so candidly. But her assistant just stuck out her tongue, showing no regrets. The assistant always felt Madisyn was a good person and would definitely find a solution for them.
Maxine continued, âHe just asked me out to eat and talk about business. Itâs nothing personal; itâs just that I feel weâve gone out too often.â
Madisynâs eyes narrowed. Why would a man invite a woman out like that? Maxine felt uncomfortable because the man was Hector, the vice president of Johns Group. Besides, he was old enough to be her father.
Recently, Madisyn had been thinking about finding an opportunity to visit Hector. Finally, she got one now. She smiled at Maxine and nodded, âOkay, Iâll go with you.â
Maxine lit up at once, but then her expression dimmed. âBut Miss Johns, you are very busy. I canât disturb you. Donât worry about me; I can go there by myself.â
âItâs okay. I have nothing important to do today anyway. Letâs go,â Madisyn said.
Maxine couldnât help smiling. Since Madisyn was with her, Hector couldnât think of doing anything inappropriate.
It took them fifteen minutes to arrive at the restaurant. Hector was already there, wearing a refined brown suit. He looked exceptionally upright and noble. He was accompanied by his assistant.
His assistant said, âMr. Lyons, women at Maxineâs age canât resist your charm, so we must make things clear to her. Then she wonât pester you like that woman last time.â
In the assistantâs eyes, Hector was a charming man. He was in his forties, but his well-maintained face didnât show his age at all. He looked like he was only in his early thirties. And his rich experience gave him a mature masculine aura. Furthermore, he was the vice president of Johns Group. This identity made him irresistible to women in their twenties.
This had happened before. Several young women kept pestering Hector after they met him. But later, for some reason that even the assistant didnât know, they never appeared again.
Hector smiled and said gently, âMaxine is different.â As soon as he said this, they heard some noise at the door. He looked over, and his smile deepened when he saw Maxine come in and greet him. âMr. Lyons.â
âHello, Maxine,â Hector greeted back with a smile and an excellent aura.
At this moment, another woman walked in behind Maxine.
âMr. Lyons.â
Hector looked at Madisyn, who wore a blue suit. She looked beautiful, but her strong aura could not be underestimated.
His eyes narrowed; he knew Madisyn. She was Glennâs daughter. But this was their first time meeting face-to-face.
âMadisyn⦠I heard you were back, but Iâve been so busy dealing with business that I havenât found a chance to visit you. My bad. This is our first meeting. Letâs exchange contact details.â Hector smiled.
Madisyn didnât refuse. After exchanging contact information, Hector transferred one hundred thousand dollars to her account and said, âI didnât prepare a gift for you. Please accept this and buy whatever you want. Your father and I are good friends, so if you have any problems in the future, donât hesitate to come to me.â
âOkay, I will remember that,â Madisyn replied.
The corners of Hectorâs eyes twitched slightly. He had thought Madisyn would at least try to return the money. His eyes moved to Maxine. He smiled and asked, âAre you friends?â
âYes, Maxine is my favorite,â Madisyn replied, taking a sip of her coffee.
âOh, I see,â Hector said in a low voice. Then, he started talking about work.
Their entire conversation was pleasant and comfortable. Hector was a talkative person with high emotional intelligence. He also provided Maxine with the highest profits.
Maxine couldnât help breathing a sigh of relief. Todayâs meeting with Hector was no different from the previous ones. But this time, she felt it was much more serious and productive. Madisynâs presence had really helped a lot.
Maxine looked at Madisyn gratefully.
When she thought the meeting would end perfectly, Hectorâs assistant suddenly said, âMaxine, Mr. Lyons only treats you as an artist. We hope you will treat him the same.â
Maxine looked at the assistant in confusion, wondering what he meant.
Before she could say anything, Hector scolded his assistant, âWhat are you talking about? Where did you get the audacity to be rude to Madisynâs friend?â Then, he said to Maxine, âDonât take my assistantâs words seriously. He is only being overly cautious because of similar past incidents. But there were only a few cases.â
Maxine pursed her lips, feeling very complicated. The way Hectorâs assistant said those words made it sound like she was interested in Hector. How could it be? She clearly felt it was Hector who was interested in her.
What if Madisyn misunderstood her?
Madisyn took a sip of her coffee again and said with a smile, âMr. Lyons, your assistant is indeed overly cautious. Maxine is only twenty years old, while you are old enough to be her father. I think you should teach your assistant to speak with manners. Otherwise, it wonât do you any good if he offends your clients.â
âYes, of course, I will do that,â Hector also smiled.
Madisyn and Hector were smiling at each other, but the air around them became tense. Fortunately, the conversation ended soon. Maxine and Madisyn immediately left.
Hector squeezed his glass so tightly that cracks soon appeared in it.
