Chapter 444

Comeback Of The Adored Heiress

Chapter 444:

Madisyn decided to solve the issue as soon as possible. It was past eight, and the canteen chefs were wrapping up for the day, chatting and laughing.

“I absolutely love working here!”

“How about some barbecue tonight?”

“We just had it yesterday! How are you still craving it?”

“Well, winter’s coming. Let’s enjoy it now before we have to eat in the freezing cold.”

With that, they all agreed, looking forward to their evening feast.

After all, they could afford such luxuries, having earned a tidy sum from their work.

At that moment, a voice interrupted, “Wow, it looks like you are all quite rich!”

Madisyn appeared with a subtle smile, her presence clearly unexpected. She hadn’t invited Andrew to come along, as this was the Johns Group and his involvement would only complicate things.

When the chefs spotted her, their smiles faded. One of them, frowning in annoyance, grumbled, “Don’t bother us.” Ignoring their rudeness, Madisyn calmly asked, “Have you all finished your work?”

“We know what we’re doing. It’s none of your business,” one chef snapped. “Just leave.”

Madisyn held up several photos and asked, “Do you recognize these?”

She had secretly taken pictures of the kitchen, which was in a state of disarray.

Some passersby caught sight of the photos, and their shock echoed through the room.

“How could it be this dirty? How could you prepare food in this filthy kitchen?” one of them exclaimed, his anger palpable.

The chefs, initially taken aback, quickly shrugged off the accusations. “So what if you have pictures? Who’s going to believe you? This is our kitchen.” The crowd seemed momentarily hesitant.

However, Madisyn remained unfazed. “I have video as well.”

She played the video, showing her entry into the kitchen and the appalling conditions she had filmed. The chefs’ faces showed a flicker of surprise.

They hadn’t expected her to be so prepared.

“Well, it’s normal for kitchens to get dirty occasionally. We’ll clean it up later,” one of them said dismissively, as if it were no big deal.

No matter what Madisyn threw at them, they figured they could come up with an excuse to cover it up.

Just then, the man who had earlier encountered a worm in his food said to Madisyn, “Listen, even if you have evidence, when headquarters hears about it and comes to inspect, they’ll find nothing. These people have a strong backer, and there’s not much we can do. People who eat here just care about getting a meal. It’s free, after all. The wealthier employees go out to eat somewhere else.”

Madisyn turned to him and replied firmly, “Thank you for the advice, but I’m not backing down.” She then turned to the chefs and said, “Get your manager out here. I demand a full inspection of this canteen immediately!”

The chefs scoffed. “And who are you to demand our manager?”

They ignored Madisyn, thinking little of her because she was a young woman.

Undeterred, Madisyn made a phone call.

The friendly man understood her feelings but knew they could do nothing to change this situation. No one expected the Johns Group, with its glamorous facade, to be so disorganized behind the scenes. They were all powerless to change that.

Not just him, but others thought the same. The chefs, unconcerned, changed into casual clothes, ready to go enjoy their barbecue.

Just then, to everyone’s surprise, the canteen manager rushed in. He was normally elusive and only appeared when higher-ups visited. His sudden arrival astonished everyone.

The chefs greeted the manager with respect.

However, he bypassed them and walked directly to Madisyn. “I’m in charge of the canteen, Miss Johns. I didn’t expect you here today.”

Madisyn said immediately, “I want to inspect the hygiene of the canteen right now.”

The manager nodded in agreement. “I understand. Canteen hygiene is crucial. You can take a seat while I arrange for an inspection.”

“I’ll accompany you,” Madisyn said.

The manager, visibly taken aback, said, “Miss Johns, you’re too distinguished to go to the kitchen. Don’t worry; I’ll record a video and show you the real situation!” He patted his chest sincerely.

Everyone was taken aback. How could this seemingly delicate woman command such respect from the usually arrogant manager?

“I’ll go with you,” Madisyn repeated firmly.

“Please, Miss Johns, calm down. Our canteen has some special dishes. How about we sit down and talk? I have some things to discuss with you,” the manager suggested with a smile.

Madisyn saw through his delay tactics and decided not to waste time. She walked straight to the kitchen, kicking the door open. The manager, sweating nervously, rushed to follow her. Meanwhile, the other employees, curious and reluctant to leave, stayed behind to watch the unfolding drama. News of the incident quickly spread throughout the company.

Upstairs, Hector received the news from his assistant. “Madisyn is here inspecting the kitchen?” Hector’s eyes narrowed.

“Yes, Mr. Lyons. What should we do now?”

Hector was already aware of the canteen’s issues and the vice finance director’s involvement in this. He had always overlooked it, valuing their connections. He knew that to win people’s support, he had to make them feel they were benefiting first.
