Chapter 47
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 47:
Madisyn and Andrew exuded an unmistakable aura of a couple, their connection undeniable. A twinge of jealousy surged through Gilbert as he slid into the seat beside Madisyn.
When she noticed him, her eyes flashed with clear disgust. âGet lost,â she snapped, her tone icy.
Gilbert ignored her cold reaction, convinced that her attitude was simply a result of being hurt after he abandoned her. âMadisyn, our breakup must have been hard on you. If youâre feeling down, just come to me. Iâll help you through it, okay?â
He stared at her, a wave of remorse washing over him. Had Madisyn truly been the daughter of the Chapman Groupâs CEO, he would never have left her. To him, having such a beautiful girlfriend had been a status symbol.
âGet lost,â Madisyn repeated, her voice even colder.
âMadisyn, donât be so stubborn. You werenât one to date casually before. Seeing you like this, Iâm sure you still have feelings for me,â Gilbert pressed, sure of his insight.
Madisyn was left utterly speechless. How had she not seen Gilbertâs repulsive nature before? She shook her head, grateful to be rid of him. If only she had known, she wouldnât have cared so much when the Santos family fell from grace.
Meanwhile, Jenna returned from the restroom, only to find Gilbert seated next to Madisyn. Fury ignited within her.
âMadisyn, donât you have any shame?â she spat, her temper flaring.
In her rage, Jenna threw her cup of coffee toward Madisyn, but before it could reach her, Andrew intervened smoothly, deflecting the cup and causing the coffee to splash all over Jennaâs expensive outfit instead.
Jennaâs face turned bright red, her outfit now ruined. Seething with fury, she pointed a trembling finger at Madisyn. âItâs bad enough you have a pretty boy at your side, but now youâve let him assault me too!â
âIf you donât leave right now, the next move will be mine,â Madisyn shot back, her patience worn thin, her gaze cold and unrelenting.
Seeing the situation escalating, Gilbert quickly grabbed Jennaâs arm, trying to steer her back to their table. âLetâs just sit down and eat,â he murmured, anxious to avoid further embarrassment.
However, back at the table, thoughts of Madisyn still gnawed at Gilbert. Unable to shake his fixation, he impulsively sent Madisyn a text message.
âIf youâre still hung up on me, how about being my secret lover? I can offer you ten thousand a month. Deal?â
Gilbert was certain Madisyn would accept his proposalâwho could resist such an offer?
His phone pinged almost immediately. Grinning, he eagerly opened the message, expecting her reply, only to find it was nothing more than spam. Annoyed, he deleted it, missing the brief moment of satisfaction he had anticipated.
At the same time, Jennaâs phone buzzed. She opened the message, and her expression quickly soured with rage. It was a screenshot from Madisynâof Gilbertâs disgusting proposal.
Jennaâs fury boiled over. How could Gilbert have the audacity to send such a message to Madisyn? What did it mean for her? That damn Madisyn must have seduced him!
Her bitterness seethed as she turned to confront Gilbert. âDo you even love me?â she demanded, her voice trembling with anger.
âOf course I love you, silly. Why would you even ask that?â Gilbert replied, his voice soft and reassuring.
âI just⦠feel insecure,â Jenna muttered, her voice cracking. âYou and Madisyn were together for a long timeâ¦â
Gilbert quickly soothed her, âWe were only together because of the engagement. Nothing real ever happened between us. It wasnât until I met you that I truly understood what love meant.â
Jenna let out a shaky breath, reassured by his words.
Meanwhile, Andrew glanced at Madisyn, his expression unreadable. âWho was that?â he asked casually.
âThat was my ex-fiancé,â Madisyn replied, her voice calm despite the tension.
Andrewâs face betrayed nothing, his demeanor remaining composed as he continued eating, every movement refined and graceful. But Madisyn couldnât shake the feeling that something about his reaction was off. Yet, she couldnât pinpoint what it was, so she pushed the thought aside and returned to her meal.
After they finished eating, they stepped outside, only to find Jenna posing dramatically next to a car while Gilbert snapped photos of her.
Jenna, still enamored with the sight of Madisynâs car, was caught up in her own self-importance. She struck a pose, confident that Madisyn was just as captivated by the car.
âMadisyn, do you like our car?â Jenna called out, tossing her hair in a show of confidence.
Madisynâs faint smile widened slightly. âYour car?â
âAbsolutely,â Jenna replied, holding tightly to Gilbertâs arm. âGilbert bought it for me! Isnât it breathtaking?â
Gilbert noticed Madisynâs focus on the vehicle. Madisyn had always been composed, never one to display a strong liking for anything material. But this car seemed to possess a unique charm, one that even Madisyn found hard to ignore.
