Chapter 474
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 474:
âDonât worry about it. Theyâve been with us for a long time and only left now because we are in trouble.â
âI heard Global Entertainment is snatching up artists. They could be joining them.â The assistantâs face tightened with concern.
âIf thatâs where they want to end up, let them.â Madisyn gave a casual shrug.
These people were barely known in the industry, but Edge Entertainment still tried to push them forward. Did they really think moving to Global Entertainment would make them stars overnight? That wasnât going to happen. Global Entertainment had even more celebrities, and the battle for attention was much tougher. If they switched over, theyâd likely be pushed to the sidelines for quite a while.

Madisynâs top priority now was getting the sci-fi script finished. Sheâd come up with the idea a long time ago, but things kept getting in the way. This moment felt like the perfect chance.
For a whole week, Madisyn barely stepped outside, staying in the office and writing nonstop. Her connection with the outside world slowly faded as she threw herself into the project.
On the seventh day, after typing the last word of her script, Madisyn stood up and suddenly felt lightheaded. Before she knew it, she was enveloped in a warm embrace.
As she slipped into unconsciousness, she caught a glimpse of a familiar, handsome face.
When she awoke, a white ceiling greeted her, and she heard a deep, raspy voice nearby. âYouâre awake.â Turning her head, she saw Andrew. His serious expression made her feel a wave of guilt.
âYeah,â Madisyn replied softly.
Andrew carefully placed a bowl of soup on the bedside table and began feeding her one spoonful at a time, his movements tender and deliberate. As Madisyn savored each spoon, she studied Andrewâs face with intent. His quiet demeanor gave him a serious, almost intimidating look.
A flicker of concern passed through Madisyn.
âWhatâs wrong?â she asked, her voice tentative.
Andrew had been furious, but when he saw Madisynâs cautious question, a bitter laugh escaped him, his voice laced with frost. âYou told me not to worry about you, and now youâve worked yourself to exhaustion? Do you understand how easily you could have died from this?â
Madisyn, feeling guilty, gave a sheepish smile and fell silent, unable to meet his gaze.
âAnd youâre still smiling?â Andrewâs frustration bubbled up, leaving him feeling trapped with nowhere to direct his anger.
Madisyn quickly replied, âI realize my mistake. Iâm sorry. I promise it wonât happen again.â
âFor the next few days, Iâm staying with you. Youâre going to rest at home,â Andrew said firmly, his gaze sharp. His usual calm demeanor was replaced by a stern one, showing just how upset he was.
Madisyn, feeling the weight of his displeasure, simply nodded in agreement, not daring to say another word.
After transferring her responsibilities to the vice president, Madisyn settled at home to rest, with Andrew staying close by.
âWhat would you like to eat? Iâll cook it for you,â Andrew said, his tone gentle.
Madisyn pondered for a moment. âIt seems like itâs been ages since I had fish. How about some grilled fish?â
âGot it.â Andrew set aside his tasks and headed to the kitchen, ready to prepare her meal.
Madisynâs face lit up with a warm smile, a sense of contentment washing over her as she thought about how blissful life felt. But the smile vanished in an instant when a breaking news alert flashed across Andrewâs computer screen. Her eyes widened, and without hesitation, she clicked on it.
âExplosion on Colto Road! The victimâs identity is unknown!â
The report showed cars smashed together, erupting into a massive fireball. This kind of alarming news seemed to surface with unsettling frequency.
Madisynâs eyes were fixed on the news images, her gaze sharp and focused. One of the carsâa sleek silver sports carâseemed hauntingly familiar. Could it be Howardâs? Unable to make out the license plate, she quickly dialed Howardâs number.
The phone rang for what felt like an eternity before someone finally picked up.
As Madisyn opened her mouth to speak, a soft, heart-wrenching sob came through the line.
The fragile cries were as haunting as the distant wail of an injured animal in the night.
Madisynâs heart tightened in her chest. Howard had always been cheerful and optimistic, his smile a constant even through hard times. But he was crying?
âWhatâs wrong, Howard?â Her voice softened, laced with worry.
âMilly⦠Something happened to her,â Howardâs voice quivered, each word punctuated by his sobs.
âWhat happened? Was Milly driving your car?â Madisyn asked urgently.
âYes, Iâve been feeling this strange unease, like someoneâs been trailing me,â Howard said, his voice cracking with distress. âMilly had an accident while driving my car today.â His tears flowed freely, as if his entire world had been torn apart.
Madisyn quickly grasped the situation. It seemed that Milly had been found by her organization.
Howard continued, his voice trembling, âMilly must have noticed someone following me. She probably took the risk to lure them away.â
Madisyn stared at the phone, unsure of what to say. How could she tell Howard that he was wrong?
The sound of his stifled sobs on the other end pierced through her. It was heartbreaking. She took a deep breath and said, âWhere are you? Iâll come to you.â
âNo,â Howardâs voice was strained. âI need some time alone.â
âAlright⦠Just let me know if you need anything, and Iâll be there,â Madisyn replied.
After the call ended, she sat in silence, eyes fixed on the photos on the computer. Doubts gnawed at her.
Millyâs death seemed impossible. With her exceptional skills as an assassin, it was hard to believe that a mere car accident could claim her life.
Determined, Madisyn picked up her phone and dialed Jaredâs number. âCheck if the Serpentine Players have found Milly.â
