“Okay…” Madisyn agreed reluctantly.

Jada took Madisyn to the most luxurious shopping mall. In the sprawling luxury of the mall, Madisyn showed no pretense with Jada. She picked out every piece of clothing that caught her fancy, even throwing in a few items that Susan might appreciate. Hours passed, and Jada had already spent a small fortune. Yet Madisyn’s enthusiasm remained undeterred, her eyes still wandering for more. Unable to contain herself any longer, Jada finally interjected, “How about we take a break and grab a meal?”

“Grab a meal? Okay!”

They opted for a Michelin 3-star restaurant. As they settled into their seats, Jada felt helpless.

She genuinely wanted to make amends with Madisyn, but she hadn’t anticipated the amount of money she would have to spend. She had been the one to bring it up, and now she was too embarrassed to backtrack and stop Madisyn. In this restaurant, she would end up spending at least over a hundred thousand for a single meal. Jada stared at her card in silence.

“Jada, what’s the matter? You seem upset,” Madisyn glanced at Jada with concern.

“Do you think I went overboard? I’m sorry. I tend to shop like this without realizing it.”

“Ah, it’s fine. It’s not often we get to shop together, so we might as well enjoy it!” Jada replied quickly. Madisyn’s smile grew as she said, “I knew you’d be generous. You’re not the type to be stingy.” Jada managed a strained smile in response.

After settling the bill, Jada found herself out of money. She was no longer in the mood to continue the outing with Madisyn, so she quickly concocted an excuse and headed back to the office.

Back at the office, Jada scrutinized the photo she had taken earlier on the set.

The woman in the photo bore striking resemblance to her.

Jada felt a wave of disgust. How could Norton have found a substitute?

Jada dialed Norton’s number.

After a few casual exchanges, Jada’s smile widened as she asked, “Norton, when are you planning to introduce your girlfriend to us? Everyone’s been buzzing with curiosity.”

“Oh, she’s a bit shy.”

“Really? We’re all good friends here, and your girlfriend is one of us too. Once we get to know each other, we can all share the good things in life. Also, I’ve heard a little story.”

“What story are you talking about?” Norton asked.

“One of my friends had a girlfriend who never wanted to meet anyone. Eventually, we discovered that she was involved with other men. She was completely unfaithful. My friend was heartbroken; he’d been deceived…”

“Maxine isn’t like that!” Norton interjected. “Jada, you don’t need to worry. My girlfriend is nothing like that.”

“Alright… I didn’t mean anything by it. I just want you to be cautious.”

Setting his phone down, Norton felt a swirl of conflicting emotions. He was on the set where Maxine was filming. Under the guise of an investor’s visit, he had come to see her after a long time apart. Now, he was sitting in the lounge, waiting for her. Maxine came over.

“Have you finished shooting?” Norton asked.

Maxine nodded and asked in a soft voice, “Why did you come here?”

“I came to see you. What’s the matter? Didn’t you miss me?” Norton felt upset.

“Were you speaking to just now?” Maxine asked.

“My friend Jada. She wants to meet you,” Norton said with a hint of frustration. “We’ve been together for quite a while now, and my friends are all curious about you!”

“Jada?” Maxine was taken aback.

“Yes, Jada Riggs. Do you know her?”

Pretty much everyone in Ansport knew Jada, and Maxine had also heard about her. Her boss was in a relationship with Andrew, and Jada was famously known as her boss’s romantic rival.

Noting the hesitation in Maxine’s eyes, Norton reassured her, “It’s fine if you don’t want to go. There’s no pressure.”

“I’ll go.”

Surprised, Norton lifted her up in delight. “Really? That’s wonderful!”

“Are you out of your mind? We’re on set!” Maxine was stunned but kept her voice low.

With a sheepish grin, Norton gently set her down and beamed. “I’m just thrilled! Maxine, you’re actually willing to meet my friends!”

“Silly,” Maxine said, laughing despite herself at seeing his happiness.

At her villa, Madisyn was relaxing with a facial mask when Andrew mentioned, “Norton wants us to join him for dinner. He’s planning to introduce his girlfriend to us.”

Madisyn, surprised, asked, “Is he finally ready to introduce his girlfriend to us?”

“Yep. Do you want to go?”

“Yes, I’ll go with you.” Andrew’s gaze softened as he looked at Madisyn, his arms wrapping gently around her waist. He gave her a playful pinch. Over the past few days, he’d gone to great lengths to whip up delicious meals just for her. Her figure was slightly fuller than before. “Darling, you’re more adorable with a little weight.”

Madisyn looked at Andrew with curiosity and asked, “You’ve been working from home lately. Aren’t you heading to the office?”

“It’s the same to work from home.” Andrew held her close, his gaze tender as he admired her radiant face. “Spending every day with you gives my life its true meaning.”
