Chapter 482

Comeback Of The Adored Heiress

Chapter 482:

Wesley drew in a long breath and said, “We weren’t arguing. Howard, is she your girlfriend? Why is she still wearing that hat and mask indoors?” Wesley glanced at the woman, puzzled.

The woman removed her hat and mask, revealing a stunningly radiant face. Madisyn nearly choked on her water in surprise. Was that Maxine? Or was she seeing things? With a bright smile, Maxine introduced herself, “Hi, everyone, I’m Maxine.”

What a bitch! Jada swore internally but still managed to keep a smile on her face. “Wow, Norton, you’re a lucky guy! She’s much prettier than your past girlfriends,” she said with a grin.

Maxine glanced at Norton, recalling how he had told her she was his first love.

Norton quickly waved his hands. “Jada, quit joking around. I never had a girlfriend before.”

“Oops, my mistake,” Jada said, covering her mouth. “Just kidding! Ha-ha, go ahead, Maxine, pick something.” Maxine gave a nod in agreement.

Wesley muttered under his breath, “Yeah, Norton had a thing for Jada back then and never had a girlfriend.”

“Wesley, what are you blabbing about?” Norton said, clearly irritated.

“Oh, come on, everyone knows it. We’re all friends. Maxine won’t mind, right? We’re just chatting,” Wesley shrugged.

This was the first time Norton really wanted to punch Wesley.

“Wesley…” Jada sighed. She turned to Maxine, faking concern. “Maxine, we’ve known each other since we were kids. We joke like this all the time. You don’t mind, do you?”

“Not at all,” Maxine replied with a smile as she intertwined her fingers with Norton’s, making him grin like a fool.

Wesley was amazed. He’d never seen this side of Norton before. But Maxine really did resemble Jada. Could it be true that Norton saw Maxine as a stand-in for Jada, as Jada had mentioned?

Wesley quietly kept watching the situation unfold. After Norton and Maxine joined the conversation, the atmosphere gradually became more lively, and Jada kept reminiscing about their childhood days.

Wesley chuckled. “Norton was so worried about Jada back then. She only had a fever, but he skipped school to take care of her.”

Jada smiled and said, “I was pretty weak back then, so Norton worried about me.”

“How come Norton never fussed over me? He was always hanging around you back in those days,” Wesley said.

Norton scratched his head, feeling awkward. “It was mostly because my mom told me to look out for Jada. You know, she’s one of a kind in our group.”

“Wait, so your mom really liked Jada a lot, huh?” Wesley said with a grin. “I think she wanted Jada to be her daughter-in-law. Honestly, I’m just too young for her.”

Norton sensed that something was off with the conversation, though he couldn’t quite pinpoint it. He stayed quiet and simply passed some food to Maxine. Madisyn quickly caught on to their thoughts and smirked inwardly. She figured Jada had always treated everyone like her backup option, and now, with Norton in a relationship, she was stirring the pot.

Feigning innocence, Madisyn spoke up, “You’re not that young, Wesley. Relationships with older women are all the rage these days, aren’t they? I’m totally on board with it! You and Jada grew up together—you know her better than anyone else. When it comes to being with her, you’re way ahead of the game.”

Wesley was taken aback. He’d always felt too young to be a match for Jada, but Madisyn’s words sparked a different feeling in him.

Jada quickly jumped in, saying, “We’re just friends. I see Wesley more like a little brother.”

Madisyn tilted her head in confusion. “Oh? And what about Norton then?”

“Norton? He’s more like a big brother to me,” Jada replied softly, giving Norton a look so tender it would have melted any man’s heart.

“I get it now,” Madisyn continued. “Wesley, you really should stop teasing Norton about liking Jada. His girlfriend is sitting right here, after all. Maybe it’s because you like Jada that you think everyone else does too. Work on yourself, and who knows, maybe you and Jada would make a perfect pair.” She smiled sweetly.

There was a brief glimmer of cunning in Madisyn’s eyes. Noticing this, Andrew chuckled and said in a deep voice, “Exactly. Wesley, don’t let the one you truly like slip away. I’ve got your back.”

Suddenly, the whole conversation seemed to turn into a plan to match Wesley and Jada together.

Jada was uncomfortable with how this situation was unfolding. She had always prided herself on being graceful and above it all. Aside from Andrew, she couldn’t imagine being romantically linked with anyone since no one else measured up to him.

Wesley was a good guy, no doubt about it. He came from the Lambert family, but he was just too young. Plus, with his older brother in line, he might never even take over the family business.

But Madisyn’s words hit differently for Wesley.

Wesley really did like Jada. She stood out from all the other women to him—kind, generous, smart, and most importantly, she knew how to race.

He’d always believed his feelings for Jada were more like those for a big sister, but after hearing Madisyn’s words, he found himself feeling dazed and uncertain.
