Chapter 533

Comeback Of The Adored Heiress

Chapter 533:

“What?!”

Madisyn jumped at the sudden shout. She then realized that Andrew and Norton were engaged in a video call. Andrew explained to Madisyn, “We were just going over a project.”

Norton appeared highly distressed and asked, “Where are they?”

“Mount Musa,” Andrew replied.

The video call then ended without warning. Madisyn pursed her lips, suspecting that Norton might be on his way.

The tension in the helicopter was palpable. Within minutes, they reached Mount Musa. From afar, the snow-capped peaks looked majestic and beautiful. The surrounding forest, draped in frost, resembled a scene from a winter fairy tale.

They spotted a group filming in the distance. They were absorbed in their activities. Relieved to see them safe, Madisyn exhaled deeply.

The helicopter began its descent.

The lift of the helicopter drew everyone’s attention. They looked up to see it hovering above.

“A helicopter!”

“Where did that helicopter come from?”

Curiosity and confusion filled the air. Maxine speculated silently. Suddenly, the ground trembled beneath them. Cracks formed in the snow-covered surface. Sewell yelled, “Everyone, be careful! Don’t move!”

Panic surged as they watched the snow on the mountain begin to quiver, threatening to collapse at any moment. Everyone knew it was… an avalanche!

An avalanche—something they had only heard about in stories—was unfolding right before their eyes!

“Something’s wrong!” Madisyn quickly shouted.

Andrew promptly instructed the pilot to halt.

Madisyn observed the trembling snow on the mountain. It looked as if it could cascade down at any moment, potentially burying everyone below. As she watched, her breath hitched. “We’ve been deceived.”

Andrew came to the same realization. “They set a trap for you here.”

“Correct. This snow is too unstable. Someone must have tampered with it, knowing I was concerned for the crew and would arrive quickly, which meant by helicopter. The helicopter’s blades stirred the air…” Before Madisyn could finish her thought, she noticed the snow atop the mountain begin to slide. The snowflakes were mesmerizing.

Yet, an abundance of falling snow posed a lethal threat. “Rescue them!” Madisyn commanded.

The helicopter quickly descended. Madisyn and Andrew deployed a rope ladder.

Below, the actors and actresses, witnessing the sudden avalanche, were struck with terror. “Ah! Run!”

“Run! Run!”

“Wait! That helicopter is here to rescue us!” Maxine yelled.

As the rope ladder unrolled, Madisyn called out from above, “Quick, climb!”

Everyone frantically began to climb. Maxine and Sewell assisted others up the ladder as the avalanche neared. “Maxine, get on first!” Maxine’s assistant urged.

“You first!” Maxine said, pressing the assistant’s hand onto the ladder. Sewell added, “Climb, no time for hesitation!”

By then, most had started climbing the ladder, which showed signs of strain. “Damn, the ladder won’t support all of them,” Madisyn said, her complexion pale. She urged, “Everyone, move quickly!”

The cold from filming had already chilled their hands, and now, driven by fear, their bodies shook uncontrollably. Some nearly lost their grip several times.

Boom!

A massive wave of snow descended from the mountain, shaking the ground as if the entire mountain might crumble.

Maxine looked up as the avalanche approached. Her mind went blank.

“Maxine!”

Suddenly, a hand grabbed hers. She was pulled up just as the snow surged below her feet. Looking up, she realized it was Norton who had saved her, his eyes filled with concern and urgency.

Norton’s assistant helped Sewell up next. The two of them struggled to pull Maxine and Sewell into the helicopter.

Sewell and Maxine shivered uncontrollably. That was close—they had nearly lost their lives.

“Maxine!” Norton enveloped Maxine in a tight embrace, tears flowing freely.

Maxine felt his cold skin and his body shake; he was clearly terrified. She hesitated for a moment before softly patting his shoulder.

Norton cried out repeatedly, “Maxine.”

“It’s alright. Thank you. I’m okay,” Maxine said gently.

“Maxine…” Norton continued to repeat her name, weeping deeply.

The assistant stared at Norton, baffled. Was this really his boss? This revelation was astonishing. He checked on Sewell and fetched some hot water for them.

As Maxine drank the water, she felt some of her anxiety disappear, but Norton still gazed at her with eyes full of sorrow, almost pitiable.

Feeling her resolve weaken, Maxine responded, “Thank you. Your timing was perfect. I’m okay. Don’t worry.”

“Maxine,” Norton looked at her with a pained expression.

Maxine exhaled deeply and said, “Really, thank you for this. We’re friends.”

“Norton shouted, “I don’t want to just be friends.”

Maxine fell quiet.

Norton realized he couldn’t change her mind. He clenched his jaw and reluctantly said, “Alright, friends.”

Upon hearing this, Norton’s assistant was left dumbfounded. Was this really his boss? How mortifying!
