Chapter 536
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 536:
What Is It That You Truly Desire?
Seated here, one could easily glimpse the Edge Entertainment building not far in the distance. During their time at Edge Entertainment, they had always been treated with utmost respect and fairness. It was a nurturing environment that genuinely valued its actors and actresses. They had grown accustomed to this equitable treatment. Only after their departure did they realize that other companies paled in comparison.
On several occasions, their agent at Global Entertainment had subtly suggested they participate in unsavory casting couch practices, and the other, more seasoned artists at the company were consistently condescending and dismissive.
One of them lamented, âIf we continue at Global Entertainment without any support, how is this different from being utterly sidelined?â
Another voiced her regret, âI miss Edge Entertainment. It was so much better there.â
Frustrated and angry, one exclaimed, âWe left Edge Entertainment for Global Entertainment, and itâs been nothing but a nightmare! This isnât what Global Entertainment promised. I demand fairness!â
âKathy, are you out of your mind? How can we fight against Global Entertainment?â
Kathy Martel retorted, âIâm going to speak with the agent!â With that, she stood up and strode out. The others exchanged looks and slowly rose to leave, all anxiously awaiting news from Kathy.
However, the whole night passed, and they didnât hear anything from Kathy.
The next morning, they went to work together. Being the only ones who had transitioned from Edge Entertainment to Global Entertainment, they found it hard to gel with their new colleagues and relied heavily on each other for support.
âDid anyone hear from Kathy yesterday?â someone inquired.
âNo, she didnât return to the dormitory. Maybe she managed to secure a role and is preparing for a shoot,â another suggested, sparking a glimmer of hope among the artists as they hastened their steps to the company.

Upon arrival, they sought out the agent, who met their gaze with a smile. âKathy? She had some personal matters and went home.â
Shock rippled through the group. How could Kathy have just had something come up and leave all of a sudden?
âThe company has scheduled a compliance training session for all of you. Attend it,â the agent instructed.
Compliance training? That was the last thing they needed. Dissatisfied murmurs spread among the artists. âWe want to act. If the company doesnât provide us with opportunities, weâll find them ourselves,â one protested.
âThis is the companyâs arrangement.â The agentâs gaze turned menacing as he smiled coldly.
Chilled by his demeanor, the artists had no choice but to comply.
The so-called compliance training was merely a lesson in obedience to the companyâs dictates. By the time the session ended, everyone was visibly drained and dispirited.
âLetâs go to the rooftop for some fresh air,â suggested one actress.
âGood idea!â They were all in a foul mood and ascended to the rooftop together. The sweeping views of the bustling city and the gentle breeze lifted their spirits somewhat.
As they stood by the railing, one of them spotted a pin on the floor.
Picking it up, she exclaimed, âIsnât this Kathyâs pin? She mentioned her grandmother made it for her.â The others recognized it immediately. âYes, itâs definitely Kathyâs. How did it end up here?â
Their gaze shifted from the pin to the ground below, a wave of dizziness washing over them. âKathyâcould something have happened to her?â The actress who had been closest to Kathy immediately tried calling her, only to find her phone was turned off.
âThe number you have dialed is currently switched off,â the automated message echoed ominously among them, instilling a growing fear.
They exchanged horrified glances.
Kathy had been determined to confront the agent, and then supposedly she had gone home that night. Yet now, her personal item was found abandoned on the rooftop.
The implication was chilling. A numb silence enveloped them.
âKathyâ¦â whispered the actress who had been closest to Kathy, tears beginning to spill down her face.
The others followed suit, kneeling down as they began to cryânot just for Kathy, but for their own grim futures as well. Kathy had bravely gone to make a complaint, and while they had feared the company might dismiss her, they never imagined a scenario where the company might go to such lengths to silence her. What could they possibly do next?
They felt powerless against the companyâa behemoth that now seemed even more daunting and immovable.
Someone tentatively suggested, âWhat should we do? Should we leave the company?â
âCan you afford the breach of contract fee?â
âBut we canât just stay like this. Our lives will be ruined!â
A heavy silence fell over the group.
No one wanted to stay, but they felt trapped, devoid of any viable alternatives. Despair hung thick in the air. One of them proposed, âHow about we use this incident to force the company to terminate our contracts?â
âDidnât you see what happened to Kathy? Kathy is gone! If we catch the company doing something wrong, theyâll just get rid of us too!â another cried out in desperation. âAre we just supposed to wait for death?â
The artistsâ cries filled the rooftop, raw and uncontrollable.
After a long while, they collected themselves and returned as if nothing had happened, masking their turmoil.
The agent observed this scene from a distance and later reported to Tatiana with a respectful tone, âTatiana, they wonât dare cause any more trouble.â
âHmph! A bunch of fools,â Tatiana said with a sneer, dismissively. âDo they think they could have a good future at our company? Dream on!â
âYour plan was brilliant, Tatiana,â the agent flattered. âTheyâll definitely behave well from now on.â
âAnd what about Kathy?â she inquired.
âKathy has been dealt with. We originally planned to push her off the building, but it would have been problematic if anyone had witnessed it. So, we took her to a crime-ridden place. Itâs full of drug dealers and organ traffickers. Sheâll suffer a fate worse than death,â the agent explained nonchalantly.
Tatiana smirked. After leaving the agentâs office, she called Hector to report that the matter had been resolved.
The idea hadnât been Tatianaâs but Hectorâs. She found herself admiring Hector more for his ability to deftly handle these troublemakers.
