Chapter 572
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 572:
âAnd what about you?â Nalani asked, her eyes filled with a touch of hope.
In many peopleâs eyes, Nalani seemed like a catch. She was attractive, came from a decent family, and held a respectable job.
âIâm going to rest in the next room,â Howard remarked.
At those words, a shadow passed over Nalaniâs eyes. Although they were together, there was no real intimacy between them. They hadnât even held hands.
Was this what they called a relationship?
Nalani felt a numbing emptiness.
Howard turned away and left, entering the guest room next door. He gazed out the window, where the tall trees danced in the night breeze. Suddenly, through the rustling leaves, a shadowy figure materialized. Howardâs normally gentle eyes hardened.
Their gazes locked through the foliage.
Seconds later, Howard opened the window, and as he stepped back, a figure leapt inside.
Under the roomâs light, the girlâs face was as cold as ice, radiating a chilling aura. Yet, as her eyes met Howardâs, there was a trace of warmth.
Howardâs expression turned even colder.
âIs this fun for you?â
Meanwhile, Nalani approached the door, intending to speak to Howard, but stopped when she overheard his icy toneâa kind she had never heard from him before.
Was there someone else in the room?
Nalani was puzzled. A moment later, a womanâs voice responded, equally cold and emotionless. âWhat do you mean?â
âBetraying me? Then following me around? Do you think this is some kind of game?â Howardâs voice deepened, his tone icier.
â@Ñâ¬ÑÑ ÏнαÏÑεÑÑ Ãη ÄαĺñøνεâÑ.¢Ïм
Nalaniâs heart quivered.
This was a side of Howard she had rarely seen. She didnât think Howard despised Milly; rather, it was because he cared.
The more someone cared, the angrier they became when they felt betrayed.
Howard, in this moment, was a prime example. His peak anger indicated a profound care for Milly. A deep ache settled in Nalaniâs heart.
Inside the room, Milly remained silent, her gaze fixed on Howard, unyielding and wordless. Her silence only fueled Howardâs anger further.
He sneered. âYou were sent by the Serpentine to infiltrate my life, werenât you? You didnât anticipate that I would uncover your plan so swiftly, did you?â
A flicker of shock crossed Millyâs eyes, her expression changing for the first time.
Howard was aware of the Serpentine Palers!
She had always believed Howard was oblivious to such matters.
A sharp pang clenched Howardâs heart. He was towering over Milly, his presence formidable.
âSurprised that I discovered the truth?â Howard asked.
