Chapter 641
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 641:
Andrewâs heart swelled with joy as well, though his happiness was mostly for their own engagement, which was just around the corner. Susan was caught off guard. Though sheâd known her father was grooming her for the role, she hadnât expected him to announce it at such a crucial event.
The realization hit herâher standing in Ansport was about to soar.
Jadaâs and Maraâs smiles masked the curses they were throwing Susanâs way in their minds.
With the long day finally over, Susan shed her extravagant dress and found Esteban sitting alone in the lounge. Though he had been on his feet all day, he still seemed full of energy, his gaze resting on her with a mix of emotions she couldnât quite read.
Out of nowhere, Madisynâs words echoed in Susanâs mind. Maybe it was time to settle the old misunderstandings between them.
Susan locked eyes with Esteban and asked slowly, âWhy did you always give Jada more pocket money than me when I was little?â Her fingers dug into the fabric of her dress, her nerves bubbling to the surface without her even realizing it.
Susan had long accepted Estebanâs favoritism, but what had happened in recent months had reignited a glimmer of hope within her.
Losing her mother so young, Susan had always craved her fatherâs affection.
Esteban looked startled, his brow furrowing. âWhat are you talking about?â he asked, clearly confused.
A wave of heartache hit Susan hard. She bit her lip softly and asked the same question again. This time, her voice was more hesitant.
Estebanâs puzzled expression only grew more pronounced. Susanâs grip on her dress tightened as uncertainty crept in. Did he think she was being defiant by confronting him like this? Hiding her pain behind forced calm, she stood up straighter. âForget it,â she muttered. âIâll head out now.â
âWhy would you ask something like that?â Esteban frowned. âI gave both of you the exact same amount of pocket money.â In fact, he sometimes bought Susan gifts that were even more expensive.
Susan stared at him, stunned into silence. Estebanâs face darkened as realization hit him. âHow much pocket money did you get as a child?â he asked, his tone turning sharp.

âTen dollars⦠a month,â she whispered.
Ten dollars?
Esteban was shocked.
âI gave Mara ten thousand dollars every month, so she could pass it on to you,â he said, disbelief thick in his voice.
Ten thousand dollars?
Susanâs jaw dropped, her mind struggling to make sense of it.
Flashes of Jada bragging about her twenty thousand-dollar monthly allowance filled Susanâs mind. So, that was where her money had gone.
Susanâs expression grew darker by the second, matching the storm brewing in Estebanâs eyes. In a voice as cold as ice, Esteban said, âTell me more. Did you ever get any of the gifts I sent you?â
