Chapter 722
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 722:
âClarissa, what a delightful surprise! Please, have a seat. Itâs been ages since we last met; Iâve missed you so much. How have you been?â Yolandaâs voice was brimming with affection. She even brought out her finest tea to make their reunion special.
However, Clarissa wasnât in the mood for pleasantries; her face bore a grim expression that spoke volumes.
Noticing her sisterâs somber mood, Yolanda sighed softly and gently patted her hand. âYouâre here about Patty, arenât you? I never imagined Babette would go so far. Sheâs truly overstepped this time. But donât worry. Once my husband becomes king, weâll make sure they face the consequences. Patty wonât have to endure any more injustice.â
These promises were ones Clarissa had heard countless times before. Every time her family turned to Yolanda for assistance, she deferred matters until her husband would become king.
Over the years, they had toiled tirelessly to support her brother-in-lawâs ambitions.
But what had they gained in return?
Patty had endured days of mistreatment at the palace. The land they had longed for had been heartlessly given away by Yolanda herself!
Though Clarissaâs hands trembled with suppressed anger, her expression remained calm. Locking eyes with Yolanda, she said evenly, âYolanda, I know that during this crucial time, we canât let anything jeopardize Savannahâs reputation. Patty has been mistreated, but thereâs another issue bothering me. We never actually signed a contract about the land, did we?â
Caught off guard by the sudden shift in topic, Yolanda hesitated before replying with a hint of irritation, âWhat are you trying to say, Clarissa? Are you implying that I would break my promise once my husband is in power?â
âCertainly not. Weâre sisters, and I trust you completely. But as the saying goes, clear agreements make good friends. Donât you think itâs wise to have a contract?â Clarissa fixed her gaze on Yolanda.
Deep down, she clung to a small glimmer of hope. After all, they were family; surely Yolanda wouldnât betray her.
Yolanda responded, âClarissa, itâs not that Iâm unwilling to sign. But creating such a contract is impossible right now. Weâre at a critical juncture. If the agreement leaks and falls into the wrong hands, our entire plan could collapse, and my husbandâs career would be ruined!â

The last bit of hope in Clarissaâs heart vanished completely.
Abruptly standing, Clarissa fixed a cold stare on Yolanda. âSo you donât trust me? If the contract is with me, no one else will ever see it!â
Yolanda reached out and grasped her hand, her voice soft. âPlease, Clarissa, calm down. Youâre my only sister; of course, I trust you! Iâm just thinking about the bigger picture. You canât imagine how complicated my situation is.â
Clarissa replied, âHow could I not know? My family has sacrificed so much for yours over the years! Yet now, you wonât even give me a straight answer. If youâre worried about the contract being leaked, we can record it as proof instead!â
âThereâs no way we can record anything. Donât you realize how many hackers are out there these days? Theyâre keeping both our families under close surveillance. We simply canât risk any mistakes right now!â Yolanda rejected the idea firmly but softened her voice to comfort Clarissa. âBut trust me, if my husband rises to power and doesnât grant you the land, heâll jeopardize his own position as well.â
With an unreadable expression, Clarissa gazed at Yolanda.
