Chapter 87
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 87:
Andrew arrived, his impeccably tailored suit making him look striking as he walked through the hospital corridor. His presence seemed to fill the space with quiet authority.
âAndrew?â Madisyn was surprised.
âIâll watch the door for you,â Andrew said, his tone calm yet protective.
Josie, furious at the sight of him siding with Madisyn, burst out, âAndrew, youâre supposed to be Kristineâs fiancé!â
Andrewâs gaze turned icy. âShut her up.â
At his command, the bodyguard moved swiftly, knocking Josie unconscious with a quick blow. Seeing this, Kristine, lying on the hospital bed, clutched her sheets tightly in fear and confusion.
Madisyn gave Andrew a small nod before entering the room, shutting the door behind her, leaving only her and Kristine inside.
Kristine looked at Madisyn with cold disdain. âWhat are you trying to do? Shouldnât you be on a plane to the competition by now? Whatâs the matter? Have you realized that even if you win, no one will be there to cheer for you?â
The internet was still buzzing with negative comments about Madisyn, and Kristine could sense victory. A wave of relief washed over her. This was her moment.
âWhy have you done all this to me?â Madisyn asked, her eyes steady as she looked down at Kristine.
Kristine smirked. âI should be the one asking you that. If it werenât for you, I would be competing in the international competition.â
âAnd what do you want, exactly?â Madisyn asked.
âWhat youâve done to me, I will do to you,â Kristineâs voice brimmed with hatred. âDo I need to break a bone as well?â
âOkay, fine,â Madisyn said quietly.
Kristine scrutinized her, sensing that things were going too smoothly. Something was off.
Suddenly, Madisyn collapsed into a chair, her tone now defeated. âKristine, youâve truly won. Everyone blames me now. Even if I win the competition, Iâll still face public disdain. I understand that my presence has caused you pain. I just hope, after all of this, you wonât despise me anymore. Is that okay?â
The despair in Madisynâs voice filled Kristine with a twisted satisfaction. For so long, she had felt overshadowed by Madisynâs calm composure, but now, it seemed like Madisyn was finally breaking.
âYou expect me to let you go? Iâd prefer if you knelt down while talking to me,â Kristine sneered, her voice filled with arrogance.
âIf I do that, will you let me go?â Madisyn asked quietly.
Kristine laughed, reveling in her power. âNo, I wonât. Since you came back, youâve stolen everythingâour parentsâ attention, our brothersâ affection, and even Andrewâs loyalty. Did you ever imagine youâd end up like this? You brought this upon yourself.â
Madisyn tilted her head slightly, confused. âBut Kristine, even if I am to blame, you canât participate in the competition anymore. Isnât that your dream?â
Kristineâs expression turned cold. âIt was, before you came along. Now youâre Madi, and even if I compete, I canât beat you. Iâll just end up mocked. So, why should I bother?â
Madisyn looked genuinely taken aback. âIs that what this is all about?â
Kristineâs voice turned bitter. âWhat do you think? Iâm not going to clear things up for you. Iâll make sure you canât stay in this family any longer!â
Suddenly, Kristine got out of bed, but her legs gave way beneath her. She screamed, collapsing to the floor.
Her scream brought Josie rushing back to the door. âMadisyn, whatâs happening? Open the door!â
Madisyn calmly opened the door, and Josie rushed inside, horrified to see Kristine on the floor.
âHow could you?!â Josie shouted at Madisyn. âKristine is in such bad shape, and you still wonât leave her alone! Are you even human?â
Madisynâs expression remained icy. âIf you have time to accuse me, you should probably help her up.â
Kristine winced as she was helped back into bed, feeling the sharp pain in her bones. She caught a glimpse of the coldness in Madisynâs eyes and couldnât shake the feeling that, beneath her calm exterior, Madisyn was anxious.
âMadisyn, apologize to Kristine right now!â Josie demanded.
âApologize? Iâm not the one who should be apologizing,â Madisyn scoffed, brushing off Josieâs grip as she left the room.
Andrew stood waiting for her outside. âIs it over? Are you heading to Mafelen now?â
âYes, Iâm going to take part in the competition.â
âIâll take you to the airport,â Andrew offered.
Madisyn nodded, and they walked out together.
Back in the ward, Josie looked at Kristine with sympathy. âYour sister is truly cruelâ¦â
Before Josie could continue, noises outside the room signaled the arrival of Elaine and Glenn.
