Chapter 1256
The Secretly Rich Man
Gerald Crawford:The Secretly Rich Man Novel (Invisible or Poorest) Chapter 1256
While the Smiths had also met up with others to attempt to treat the illness, none of them had been able to produce any substantial results. It was around then when they came across the incredibly skillful Dr. Mabb and began asking for his help.
After several visits, those from the Smith family even got to know both of Jaceâs apprentices a bit better. The manâwho was around the age of thirtyâwent by the name of Walbridge Lumb. As for the other apprentice, she was a twenty-three-year-old-woman by the name of Brianna Zeigler.
Regardless, while it was true that Dr. Mabb had already made multiple visits before this, he hadnât been able to discern what the issue was with her yet.
ââ¦If there isnât anything else, Iâm going to go have a look at grandma first. Though all of you neednât be too worried since her illness isnât that major,â said Gerald rather confidently.
Upon hearing that, Walbridgeâs expression immediately turned fierce, though he had already been hostile from the moment Brianna had said that Gerald could be a doctor as well.
âIs this guy trying to steal our business or something? Though heâs younger than me, to think that he said that the illness wasnât anything major when even the master hasnât been able to identify her illness! The f*cking nerve of this guy!â
âItâd do you well not to be too arrogant, young man,â said Walbridge with a slight frown, clear dissatisfaction in his voice.
âHeâs right, Gerald⦠I donât mean to be rude, but Iâve never heard of you studying medicine beforeâ¦â
added Helen who truly didnât have any intention of looking down on him. However, treating illnesses and saving lives was no trivial affair.
What more, she knew that Gerald was a student from the faculty of literature. Even if he was a rich heir, that didnât automatically mean that he was a master in all other skills as well. While those from the Smith family were willing to believe in Geraldâs words, the risks involved were simply too high for them to rest easy.
Sensing that their hesitation was sound and they truly didnât mean anything else, Gerald simply shook his head with a slightly bitter laugh. Truth be told, he had already mastered three religions and nine schools of thought. With that in mind, what was medical expertise to him?
Naturally, Gerald knew better than to blame Mrs. Smith and the others. After all, they knew little about what had happened to him in the past two years. For ordinary people, such a leap in ability would most definitely sound illogical.
Regardless, they saved the chit-chat for later and began walking toward the room where Serenity was in.
Upon entering the sickroom, Ritaâwho had been staying by her grandmotherâs side this entire timeâ
instantly turned around to see who had entered. Noticing that Gerald was also present, Rita flashed a smile at him before saying, âSo youâre here too, Gerald! Regardless, my grandmotherâs already woken up, Dr. Mabb!â
Hearing that, Serenityâwho was still lying on the bedâcalled out in a weak voice, âDr. Mabb⦠Dr.
Lumb⦠Dr. Zeigler⦠And Gerald⦠Iâm glad to have all of you here⦠Getting⦠straight to business, Iâve already been sick for two years now, Dr. Mabb⦠While it only attacks occasionally, every time it happens, it gets more and more serious⦠Despite me saying âoccasionallyâ, itâs happening way more times than beforeâ¦â
It was obvious that she hadnât expected Gerald to want to cure her illness as well, which was why she was only looking at Jace as she explained her recent conditions to him.
âEach attack usually lasts for less than an hour. While I do wake up after that, after a short while, the attacks usually return for another four to five times before finally stopping. Iâll be frank and say that I canât bear it anymoreâ¦!â added Serenity with a sigh.
âThereâs no need to be so nervous, Madam Smith. My masterâs been researching your illness this entire time. While itâs truly an odd illness, masterâs finally managed to gain some results from his investigation efforts. Weâll have you look at it now! I assure you that masterâs findings are much better compared to the nonsense some people who lack self-awareness are capable of spouting!â replied Walbridge with a smile as he took a peek at Gerald.
âHaha! Iâm afraid that you wonât be able to find anything wrong with me if youâre doing my check-up now⦠Iâve already seen several other doctors, and none of them had been able to diagnose anything wrong with me until my headache struck!â said Serenity in a smile of resignation.
ââ¦Oh! I⦠see. Right, right!â replied Walbridge slightly awkwardly as he took a step back.
ââ¦Regardless, if youâve truly found the solution to my illness, could you treat it immediately, Dr. Mabb?
I really donât wish to suffer so much anymore!â begged the old lady.
Jace himself simply remained silent.
Gerald, on the other hand, simply looked at the wall clock in the room before saying, âThereâs no need to be impatient, grandma⦠Letâs just wait for an hour and five minutes to pass. Your attack should trigger then and I believe that Dr. Mabb will only be able to cure you when youâre suffering your headache!â
