Chapter 1319
The Secretly Rich Man
Gerald Crawford:The Secretly Rich Man Novel (Invisible or Poorest) Chapter 1319 Regardless, Gerald hadnât followed Leo since rushing back to King Valley was the priority.
As for the cave he had sent Leo to, it was one that was quite well-concealed. Gerald had previously come across it while heading back to the valley alone, and since he didnât know how far the Fairleighs would go to recapture Leo, Gerald figured that the cave was Leoâs best bet of avoiding detection.
Of course, Gerald knew that Leo was no longer afraid of stun guns, and while Gerald didnât really care about the lives of the Fairleighs, if Leo simply began killing them offâand causing a massive bloodbath âthen the target on Geraldâs back would definitely grow bigger.
To put it simply, Gerald didnât want to attract the attention of both the Gunters and those from Judgement Portal. With that in mind, it was definitely better for Leo to remain hidden for the time being.
Regardless, he needed to hurry back to King Valley to obtain the three herbs to cure Sierra.
Just as he arrived at the familiar yard, Gerald saw a middle-aged manâwho looked to be in his forties âand two of his subordinates standing before Myles.
âHumph! Who do you even think you are, Myles? To just allow some random person into the valleyâ¦
Hell, you even went ahead and prepared a room for him!â scoffed the man.
Despite the manâs clear arrogance, Myles respectfully replied, âYou may not be aware of this, Steward Sam, but that man is me and the master of the valleyâs benefactorâs disciple! Heâs come to ask for medicine, which is why Iâve allowed him to temporarily stay!â
ââ¦What? Not only has he come over to ask for medicine, but he even used the masterâs name? Why havenât I heard the master talk about this before then? Regardless, the King Valley isnât a place for ordinary people to enter all willy-nilly! Now cease this nonsense and vacate that room for me! Itâs reserved for Mr. and Mrs. Cateâs son! Also, I remind you that youâre no longer the steward of this place, Myles. Youâre just a handyman in the King Valley now! Whatever the case is, youâd better focus on serving their son and carrying out your duties properly, otherwise, youâll have to answer to me!â
sneered Sam as he waved his hand.
While Myles had no idea who Mr. and Mrs. Catesâs son was, he soon got his answer.
As one of the guards took one step to the side, it revealed an exquisite-looking boxâtypically made for babiesâand in it, was a puppy! So⦠The âsonâ of Mr. and Mrs. Cates was nothing more than a dogâ¦?!
Anger flashed across Myleâs face.
He was someone who would live and die for the sake of both the King Valley as well as the master of the valley. Despite that, not only were they now ordering him to live with a dog, but he also had to serve it?! Anyone living on the planet would feel dejected by that!
Even so, Myles could only clench his fist, not daring to say a word.
As he turned to look at Sam again, however, the corner of his eyes caught a glimpse of Gerald who had been standing near the entrance this entire time.
Realizing that, Myles then forced on a smile before saying, ââ¦Ah, Mr. Crawford! Where have you been? I was just about to go look for you!â
Though Gerald had clearly seen everything that had just taken place, he simply pretended that he hadnât and replied, âI was just taking a stroll to have a look around.â
Clearing his throat, Myles then shook his head before saying, ââ¦I see! Speaking of which, Mr.
Crawford, I⦠have something serious to attend to that Iâm afraid I canât share the details of! With that in mind, Iâm sorry to say that I canât help you this time! In the end, Iâm just a low-ranked person in King Valley and nobody takes me seriously, though Iâm sure youâve already seen what happened earlierâ¦â
Hearing that, Gerald knew that there was no point asking about the medicinal herbs now. After all, if even being here was an issue, what more obtaining those rare herbs?
At that moment, Samâwho had momentarily walked off when Gerald came over earlierâreturned with a bag in hand. It was Geraldâs luggage.
The contents of the luggage bag itself werenât anything special, at least to Gerald. Just a few books that the man had told Gerald to hand over to the master of the valley. As far as Gerald knew, the books held records of important information about folk remedies.
Of course, in addition to getting the herbs, it was clear that that manâs goal was to further expand his network with new forces.
Whatever the case was, Sam snorted loudly, âWhatâs this, whatâs this? Whose broken bag is this?â
âThatâs mine,â replied Gerald as he looked at the mustached steward.
Upon hearing Geraldâs reply, Sam then tossed the bag which landed right at Geraldâs feet before shouting, âOh, Iâm well aware! Now pick that up and leave already!â
Infuriated, the now red-faced Myles then retorted, âWhat is the meaning of this, Sam?! Iâve already told you that Mr. Crawford is here on behalf of me and masterâs benefactor! Treating Mr. Crawford like this⦠Do you not care one bit about me at all? Let me remind you that had I not recommended you back then, you wouldnât have been promoted to steward today! You should know what youâve done for me to overreact like this! Donât step over the line!â
âI donât get a single word of what you just said, Myles! Not one word!â growled Sam, his expression now dark as he took a few steps forward before stomping on Geraldâs bag!
Watching as Sam proceeded to apply extra force on his foot, just to rub it in, Mylesâs breath instantly began heaving rapidly.
