Chapter 1491
The Secretly Rich Man
âYoung Master Laidler is way too handsomeâ¦! Iâd die happy as long as I get to be his girlfriend for a dayâ¦!â wailed one of the girls in the crowd.
Stetson himself simply casually said, âI believe that thereâs been some misunderstandings regarding the incident where I left earlier, Xyrielle⦠It simply hadnât occurred to me that youâd bump into such danger. My initial plan had been to lead the demonic bull away from the scene in order to save everyone!â
ââ¦I knew that!â replied Xyrielle.
âYeah⦠Why did I ever perceive him that way? I hadnât even been pushed off that high platform yet at the time Stetson left⦠There was no way he couldâve known about the danger Iâd soon faceâ¦â Xyrielle thought to herself, feeling much more at ease after hearing Stetsonâs explanation.
With that, the night birthday party resumed and Geraldâand the othersâsimply got ignored as usual.
It was a little while later when a middle-aged man slowly began walking into the place⦠Looking at Xyrielle and Young Master Laidler standing together from afar, he couldnât help but break into a gratified smile.
At that moment, Mr. Babel walked up to the middle-aged manâs backâhis gaze seemingly filled with awe for the manâas he whispered, âMasterâ¦!â
As it turned out, the middle-aged man was none other than Yaakov Waddys, the master of the Waddys family.
Taking in a deep breath, Yaakov then replied, âVery good. How are things going between Xyrielle and Stetson? Is Stetson really the one true lover for Xyrielle that the fortune-teller mentioned?â
From his words alone, it was obvious that Yaakov had been greatly convinced with what the fortune-teller had said. With that in mind, he was very much concerned about his daughterâs future.
ââ¦About thatâ¦â muttered Mr. Babel as he thought about it.
âGo on, speak your mind!â replied Yaakov as he rested his arms against his back.
âWell⦠After observing him for a while, it appears that Young Master Laidler conforms to quite a lot of the fortune-tellerâs conditions! For one, he possesses remarkable abilities that ordinary people could never hope to achieve. He also has a good family background and his martial arts skills are immensely powerful!â said Mr. Babel, prompting Yaakovâs smile to widen.
ââ¦However, there is one thing that Young Master Laidler wasnât able to conform to⦠While the fortune-teller had said that the young lady would surely fall in love at first sight with the person she was destined to be with, she doesnât appear to have too many feelings for Stetson. On the contrary, sheâs having palpitations for a nobody!â reported Mr. Babel honestly.
ââ¦What? A nobody?â said Yaakov as he frowned.
âIndeed! The person himself was present this afternoon at Heartstone Manor, and Xyrielle even made an effort to invite him over to the Waddys family manor again! His name is apparently Gerald Crawford!â
Hearing all this was certainly beyond Yaakovâs expectations. After all, if he had to choose between Stetson and that nobody, it was a no-brainer that Young Master Laidler would be his ideal son-in-law.
âSpeaking of which, thatâs him!â said Mr. Babel as he pointed at Gerald.
ââ¦Humph! He truly does feel like a nobody! That b*stard⦠As he could ever become the son-in-law of my family! How preposterous!â grumbled Yaakov as he felt a headache coming while thinking about all this.
There had been multiple instances in the history of Weston where rich young ladies fell in love with ordinary men, consequently causing them to fall out with their families. With that in mind, Yaakov certainly wasnât going to allow a similar incident to happen to the Waddys if he could help it.
âDonât get too angry first, master, I havenât ended my description of him yet⦠While he does look like a nobody, from what Iâve observed, Gerald is⦠Quite extraordinary, to say the least. He simply gives off that feeling, at least to me⦠Regardless, why donât you go meet him first, master? After all, heâs the one that the young lady apparently has feelings for⦠I propose you make your decision after you make your personal observation on himâ¦â replied Mr. Babel, hoping to dissuade Yaakov from acting impulsively.
Hearing that, Yaakov took in a deep breath and calmed himself a little.
ââ¦Very well, then! Tell him to come over later! Iâd like to see if he truly is as extraordinary as you described!â grumbled Yaakov despite already having other plans on his mind.
Hearing thatâand knowing that the party was at peak excitementâthe waiter then bowed before shouting, âThe master has arrived!â
The second she heard that, Xyrielle looked up andâupon noticing her fatherâs arrivalâcalled out, âDad!â
As for everyone else, they instantly stood up before Yaakovâthe master of the Waddys familyâand greeted, âItâs a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Waddys!â
