Chapter 30
Alice
"Please," I cry. "Please. Whatever you want, I'll give it to you. My mom is very powerful, and she'll give you whatever, no matter how much or outlandish it is."
I could see nothing, nothing but the black fabric that was tied around my eyes. My arms are drawn to my back, and my feet are tied.
I can't move, and I don't know a thing going on. I trace my hand against the floor-wooden. I can hear cars outside and the bustling of New York. I'm in the city, at least. That's good. They didn't take me out to some foreign country to sell me to some fat guy with a shit kink.
"Excuse me," I say. "I don't know anything. Please let me go."
Someone grabs my chin. Their fingers dig into my chin, making me wince. "Sit here and be quiet, doll," a man says with Irish undertones. "You'll be going home to that daughter tonight."
Do they know about my daughter?
"Why? If you're going to, let me go. Why kidnap me?" I croke out. "Who are you?"
He pulls off the black cloth from my eyes, and I'm met with a man, older-mid-forties, with a close-shaven head. He has a wicked smile, with tattoos and piercings all over his face. He smiles, and a series of golden teeth flash. He's only a breath away, and I recluse back when his beer-soaked breath hits my nose.
"Patrick Kinsman. A pleasure to make your acquaintance. My apologies. It was in this manner. But it was necessary." He skims closer to me, inhales my scent, and I can only wince in his presence. "I would make you my woman if you weren't associated with that Alessio Russo." He trails his finger along my jaw.
Alessio, he knows about Alessio. I suck in my breath, "what do you want from me? From him?"
"You? Nothing unless you want to give me something," he drawls out, looking down at the curve of my hips in my yoga pants and smirks. "I prefer inexperienced women, but I do make an exception once or twice."I hold back my remarks. He's more than capable of snapping my neck. "But it would be quite the show fucking Alessio's wife before I kill him. Decisions...decisions," he says, staring at me.
"I don't want... I don't want you to touch me," I say against my better judgment.
"Hmm interesting, not many women say that to me. Do you know where your husband is?"
He's related to Alessio, and this lifestyle that I said I want nothing to do with. "Work? I don't know," my words come out with a shake. "He travels a lot because of his..."
"Murder for hire company that is a pain in the ass when half of your investors are the ones being killed, and now you have a target on your back? Yes. I figured that."
"If you know why did you kidnap me? I don't have anything to do with this or even know anything about this life. Alessio! Alessio said he was done with this life. So, can't you just let this go? He goes, and he won't bother you anymore. I swear he won't. I will bet my life on it."
Plead, lie, do anything for him to let you go Alice.
Patrick raises an eyebrow and laughs. "You're probably right about that. I did hear some muttering about his retirement, but that doesn't really matter now. I have to abide by a thing called respect and revenge, Mrs. Russo. Your husband's men killed a lot of my men while trying to find me, which cost me a lot of money. And we can not have that."
Money...no mention of his people and their lives-only the money. He's a monster, as easy as they come.
"I'm sorry for your loss," I murmur out, not daring to look him in the eyes. "I could reimburse you every last penny...please," I plead out. "I have a daughter. She's so beautiful, and I want her to have both of her parents in her life. Please don't kill Alessio."
He has no emotion or empathy present on his face. He reaches into his back pocket-my phone! He looks at the small thing, "face id, perfect." He holds my phone to my face, unlocking it. "Where does your husband think you are now?"
"At the market," I cry out. "Please, please let me go."
"Well, that was hours ago, according to my calculation. Any good husband would realize his wife is gone by now. I know I would." He swipes through my phone. "He should have found us by now. Hey!" He calls out to one of the men behind the hotel room door. "Did you guys make sure the licenses plate was in view?"
"Yes, sir," one says. "I made sure of it."
"Some top assassin, my ass." He scrolls through my phone and clicks a phone number after two rings. I hear his voice yelling my name through my phone. "No, guess again. It's your friend. Wanna hear your husband? He's saying such nasty things." He clicks the speaker, and I hear his voice.
"I will gut you if I find a hair on my wife's head out of place," Alessio shouts and that alone makes me feel like I'm gonna burst into tears. Will this be the last time I hear from him? If so, I want to tell him so many things. I want him to know how I feel about him because there is no way both of us are walking out of this alive.
Patrick chuckles, moving a bit of my hair.
"Alessio!" I shout out. This is probably my last chance at ever speaking to him again. "I love you. I love you so much," I cry out, my voice becoming hoarse from all the tears I've shed since waking up. "The last few years of my life have been the best and I am honored-grateful to have been able to call you my husband." If this is my last time hearing his voice or even being in his presence, I want him to know that I love him. I want him to know I love him until my dying breath or his.
"Alice... I love you too. And this is not the end. I'm on my way to save you."
I wish I could cradle my stomach right now, and silently tell my child it will be alright even when I know it will not. If this Patrick Kinsman is saying is true, then this child will not have its father in its life-Aria won't have her second chance at having a dad.
"I assume you know my location?" Patrick speaks.
"I'm gonna kill you," Alessio growls, all the love has gone from his voice. Pure venom, directed toward Patrick.
"Sir! He's here!" Patrick laughs. I hear a gunshot and screams through the phone. "Alessio. I've made it simple for you. I'm at the top floor, and I have about a hundred men trying to kill you." I swallow-one hundred. "If my men do not kill you then I will. I'm tired of our games, Alessio. Oh! And if I find out even one of your dumbass subordinates here. I will blow her goddamn head off." I'll see you soon." He hangs up the phone and crouches in front of me. "Your husband is quite annoying."
"I hate you."
"Alice, be nice. After this is all over I'm going to let you have his body to bury for you know, you, your daughter, and that unborn child inside of you." I stiffen, making him laugh. "I saw you pick up the pregnancy test and rush to the bathroom. One of my men told me the positive results-congratulations. I'll make sure to send it a gift and bless it tonight after everything."
He stands up and cracks his neck ever so slowly. He walks to the desk, takes out a few guns, and walks out of the room, leaving me all alone once again while I sit in cry, thinking of my husband and our love that will soon end.
