A piece of me
BLOOD MOON: The Lycan Alpha's Little Witch
Isabella's Point Of View
The wind was restless and so was I, as I paced back and forth in my already tidy room, I guess someone took the liberty to help clean the mess that Rubi made before I returned. But the most unusual thing I noticed in all the tidiness, was Gemini's vase, sitting on a shelf. I was positively sure that I saw Rubi Spike it on the ground, shattering it on impact. So how was it on my bottom shelf all in one perfect piece? This was strange and eerily unusual but I couldn't dwell on that. I had a greater and much harder decision I needed to make.
I needed to leave this place at once.
I had given a great thought about what I planned to do. And of course no! I didn't like the idea of leaving too but I knew I had to, everyone here has been really kind to me and their lives were in grave danger having me around. I couldn't repay them by putting all their lives in danger with my mere presence. I already knew what I had to do, I needed to leave, for everyone's safety. For his safety.
With my bracelet destroyed, it was only a matter of time and what monster would come and get me first. That was inevitable. They were planning on hosting a ball party, and Gemini told me about it in more detail. She explained that it was more of an annual traditional thing that happened every crescent moon and there would be loads of visitors around, like a really massive crowd. So I knew I could use that as a distraction and escape.
I heard a small knock on my door, interrupting my sprinting thoughts. "Come in." I responded.
"Heyâ Natalie," Dixie said, sticking her head into my room, her face had a bright smile.
Dixie was Alexa's twin sister and I have seen her casually during my stay, she and her sister mostly hung out at the Grand cemetery. Yes, this place has a whole cemetery. It looked old and I could sense it held a great magical connection, too bad there weren't any witches around because that would be their kind of joint.
Dixie and her sister shared many facial similarities well except that Dixie had a curly dark brown color of hair while Alexa was blond. But that's where their similarities ended, as for their personalities, I would say they were rather opposites. Dixie was especially nice, reserved, thoughtful and she wasn't that much of a big talker unlike Alexa on the other hand. Alexa was impulsive, snarky and how do I say this any nicely not to sound like a judgemental bitch⦠Meanâ Alexa was fucking mean.
"Hi," I responded. Trying to wipe off that worried look that was evident all over my face.
"Alexa said she needs your help with figuring out the decorations. I told her the decorations were great but you know Alexa she still isn't convinced, Can you come and help her out, please?" Dixie said with a small smile. "Are you okay?" She asked, seeming truly worried. She had a gift of reading expressions too well.
"Yeah. Just really exhausted from all the fighting earlier." I said, forcing a small smile on my face.
"Yeah I heard about the fight between you and the psychotic barbie. I actually want to personally thank you for putting her in her place." Dixie said, forcing us both to laugh. 'Psychotic bitchâ? Well that was another name to refer to Rubi, she was a special nutcase.
âWell I'm glad I could be of help.â I grinned widely.
âShe always does this. Roaming around like she owned the place and everyone in it meanwhile Alpha didn't even regard her so much. It was great what you did.â Dixie expressed.
"Is that yours?" She asked, pointing at whatever remained of my magical bracelet. I gathered the beads and kept them in a jar. It still held whatever magic my mom used in concealing my powers so maybe there was a spell to fix the charm.
Dixie went over to it, pouring the remains in her hands, studying it with bewilderment. She traced her fingers between the intricate interiors and carvings. Her eyes told she had seen these runes and carvings before.
"Tell Alexa that I'll be with her shortly." I said, taking my bracelet's remains from her hands. I didn't like the way she was looking at it. It was as though she had seen it before. But that wasn't a priority of mine, I needed to get out today.
The ball celebration began and some esteemed looking guests had arrived with their companions. Everyone gathered were busy celebrating and partying, this was the perfect time to leave. Gemini gave me a beautiful blue dress to wear for the party. She didn't forget to tell me it was from their Alpha, Dimitri. I felt really terrible just leaving without saying a word to anyone. They don't deserve this after all the kindness they have shown. Maybe I should go and talk to Dimitri one last time before I go. This was going to be our final goodbye.
I went searching for him in his room, but he wasn't there so I went to his office. After giving it a knock two to three times and after receiving a dead silence as my response I decided to let myself in.
There was no one inside the room but there was something on his desk that got my attention. It was a brown folder, there was a name written on it but I couldn't see it clearly from my distance. I was drawn to it out of curiosity. I opened it up and my eyes couldn't believe what I saw inside.
It had my name written on it boldly. And my real name. Isabelle Simmons. The paper's contents were filled with personal information about me and photos about me, like my age, height, blood group, my early years and all my numerous fake IDs. It had my orphanage history and there was even personal information about Iris. It had everything you could know about my life.
"What the hell?!" I exclaimed.
Dimitri had me investigated, why? He knew all along that I had lied to him. He knew my name wasn't really Natalie but he still went along with it. Hell, they all went along with the lie. But at what end? What are they after?
"Fucking liars," I scoffed, sending all the papers falling to the ground. I needed to get out of here, away from them all. They couldn't be trusted! None of them. They were all liars, and I fell for their acts.
I weaved my way carefully out of the mansion, avoiding the eyes of everyone. I finally made it out and into the woods without a soul spotting me and I ran through the forest like a blazing bullet.
The sounds of midnight's owls hooting and cooing could be heard within a distance. The sounds of insects chirping were all around me in the gentle night air, the crescent moon was shining in its full glory. I kept on running until I made it out and into an open road where I found a farm truck driver passing by.
Without giving it a second thought, I jumped into the midst of the road. The blinding light from the headlights flashed at my face, as I heard the car screech to a sudden halt.
âAre you okay, Miss?â The man questioned me, as he stepped out of his truck, and to be honest I didn't know if I was.
Why did it hurt? Why did discovering their deceit hurt so damn much? Why was finding out that everything was all an act that they all went along with tearing at my soul? This pain was unbearable.
âI'm okay⦠I think I need a ride.â I just said, and the look on the man's face spoke about an unspoken understanding.
âOkay miss, get in. You must be cold.â He spoke, taking off his brown coat and using it to cover up my arm. I was in the blue dress given to me by Dimitri.
We sat in silence in the front seat. My head rested against the windowâs pane, as we moved slowly down the road. My mind was still hung on the file I had discovered in Dimitri's office.
They knew everything. He knew who I was but he probably didn't say anything because he wanted something from me, just like every fucking person I had come across with in my life. They all wanted something from me so they pretended to care about me. It was all an act, their kindness and their love was fake. They had played me and had taken me completely for a fool.
I thanked the nice man as he dropped me off at town, which was just a few walks to the apartment where me and Iris live. After some time I finally reached home, so I quickly knocked on the door. I really hope she is home.
After some seconds, the door clicked open and it was Iris. I watched as her eyes lit up with joy as soon as she saw that it was me. I also was overjoyed to see her face again, it has been a while.
"Isabelle?!" She said, recognizing it was me. She threw her arms at me, capturing me in a tight hug. I could feel her warm tears on my skin.
"What happened? You had me worried to death. I looked for you everywhere. I even posted posters! I didn't know what to think anymore. I thought you were dead." She let out crying, her voice shaking. My disappearance really weighed on her a lot. I started hating myself for not looking for a way to contact her and let her know I was fine and safe all this while I was gone. I should have thought about what my disappearance would do to her.
"I'm sorry for that.â I apologized,with a sigh.
âTell me everything? What happened to you?â She asked, her brown eyes holding mine.
âThat is actually a really long storyââIÂ sighed again, taking in a deep breath before beginning again. âSo I was almost killed by a shape shifting god but then I was saved, but then I was kidnapped but then I wasn't. It is a really complicated story, I don't think I have enough time to explain right now. We need to get far away from here Iris, like now!" I stated, with every urgency in my eyes.
She looked into my eyes, she must have sensed the urgency too. "Okay, I'll grab some stuff we will need." Iris said, going into the room,
"I'm ready to leave now." She came out minutes later with a small traveling bag. I guess this was it, we had to move far away again. To some place where no one would know us or be able to find us. I hated leaving the lives we both have created behind but with my binding bracelet destroyed, my magic itself is serving as a beacon, drawing my enemies to me. I needed to move and keep a moving distance between us.
But somehow my heart still hurts at the thought of leaving Dimitri behind too. It felt like I was leaving behind an important piece of me. Why did I still yearn for him after everything that happened?
