I have to kill mate
BLOOD MOON: The Lycan Alpha's Little Witch
Dimitri's point of view
I was seated in the dimly lit conference room among the twelve seats around the table of the council, surrounded by Alpha's who were furiously letting out their frustrations. They were all too preoccupied in their arguments to reason rationally, acting like spoiled kids. Everyone was speaking out of turn, trying to voice out their own opinions over others. While another spoke against the next person, hoping to wedge in that their opinion was more worthy for our ears.
How was being a member of the council selected again? They all behaved immature to be tasked with the duty of making decisions that affected all werewolf kinds.
The high ranked Alphas occupying the hall were called upon for this emergency meeting that was important to us all. It was a matter that affected all Alpha's seated here and the werewolves world at large.
"Enough!" Valor growled, pounding his fist on the table, managing to silence the entire room. He was a gray haired man and the Supreme Alpha overlord of the werewolf court, elected by the council votes and my choice to fill up the seat after my father's death. I remember him when I was little, he was a good friend of my father and after he died I wasn't ready to take on the responsibility of the entire werewolf kind. I knew if I took the responsibility at that time, I would end up burning the entire world to the ground.
"We have all gathered here to discuss a pressing matter affecting us all but instead of discussing it all of you choose to argue like little kids. Something is happening that hasn't happened before, we are being attacked." Valor scowled deeply.
"My pack has lost countless lives. Many bodies are yet to be buried." Dorian, the alpha of the Mythland pack said. "We were ambushed by vampires. I still don't know what they were after."
"We believe that they all are after the chosen one." A murmuring wave erupted at Valor's words. Everyone understood what this meant, the chosen one had resurfaced. This was a good news and bad news depending on how you choose to see it.
"The chosen one? I thought that was just a myth long forgotten." Alpha Regan, of the shadow pack injected. She was the only female alpha in the entire world and one of the people I could consider friends. She had dark brown hair, which she always kept stacked up above her head.
"No, the legends are true, the chosen one lives and we need to find him or her first." The little vermin called Rafael finally squeaked with a hideous smile. Rafael was the alpha to the Black blood pack, a pack he claimed after challenging his own alpha Kane, into a duel conclave to the death and he won. Of course it wasn't a fair fight because Kane's mate, Sheila, had poisoned her own mate with wolfsbane beforehand. See the little bitch was having an affair with Rafael and she wanted him to be the alpha. I couldn't understand how she was capable of betraying her mate like that.
Rafael went on to claim other minority packs, and small werewolf tribes, to be honest I didn't understand why the hell he even had one of the twelve seats among the council, he was nothing but a power hungry, opportunistic parasite if you were to ask me. Of course he would want to have Isabelle too, since she is the chosen one after all.
You must be probably wondering how I came to know of this. It was clearly obvious to me now that Isabelle was in fact the one chosen by the moon goddess, that would explain why she is being hunted by every bloody creature on earth. The myth and tales tell that the chosen one is like the champion and warrior of the moon goddess, chosen to stand against the greatest evils. The chosen one is blessed by the moon goddess with a vast amount of powerful magic and it is known that their blood holds the key to the entire universe. The chosen one a blood could heal, restore and even grant immortality to whoever drinks it. And this was the very reason why Isabella's life is in grave danger.
"Yes, the prophecies are true. The chosen one will hold the keys to the universe and within will be the source of the greatest darkness. Every creature won't rest till they can have the one chosen by the moon goddess. We need to find out who it is and get them before they fall into the wrong hands. It would be in our kind's best interest if the chosen one stood with us not against our kind. There is a war coming and we need to know where the chosen one strands in this war." Valor pointed out.
Valor was a good man and has been an even better leader but I couldn't trust him with the knowledge of the chosen one, most especially I couldn't trust the council either. Eventually they all would want to exploit her for their selfish gains and I can't have that happen to Isabelle. I am going to protect her even from them.
"Dimitri, is there anything you would like to share with the council?â Rafael questioned with a disgusting smirk. âAnything like the monster that attacked your pack during the crescent moon festival?" Rafael added. How dare he call me by my name, he must think we are equals now because he is an Alpha.
'More importantly, how did he figure out about the attack on the pack?' Luca's question was crucial. How did he learn about that, we were very careful not to let word on that get out. This only means that the weasel has been keeping an eye on me and the pack. Just how much did the bastard know?
"There is nothing to say." I answered. "My pack was attacked by a headless horseman, luckily we took him down without any casualties." I said, before the council, earning curious eyes and low whispers.
"Valor, I am volunteering my pack's resources to find the moon goddess chosen one. Wherever the chosen one hides we will find her." Rafael said, it was obvious that he wanted the chosen one for himself. Fucking pig only wanted more power.
âAnd how are you so sure it is a she?â I asked, narrowing my furious gaze on Rafael. He chuckled before replying.
âI mean, isn't it obvious. The moon goddess is clearly a feminist. She would never bestow a power capable of being the undoing of the world to a man. She would rather entrust it to a woman, so I'm sure the chosen one we seek is a female.â Rafael finished with his annoying smirk. The council seems to key into his reasoning.
âOkay Rafael. Gather up your men and best trackers. See to it that the chosen one is found and captured.â Valor said, giving out his final decree to have the chosen one arrested. This wasn't good, this would mean all the werewolf kind will be out searching for Isabella.
After the meeting was over and everyone left, I decided to wait behind to have a word with Valor.
"Dimitri," The elderly man called, giving me a look.
âValor.â I say his name with an emotionless expression.
"Walk with me." Valor says, leading the way ahead. I remember taking similar walks with Valor like this one. I always looked up to him, he was more than my mentor, he was the closest thing I had to a father.
âWhat troubles you master?â I asked, earning another heavy sigh from him. There was something bothering him, I knew it. Something he chose not to share even with the council.
"Is it that obvious? I am afraid of the heavy storm coming and I fear for the fate of our kind. I fear that our kind lies in an unknown paradox that could be wiped off by this storm." He added with another sigh. "Dimitri, I have a special task for you. You are the only one I can trust with this and you have to promise me that you will carry this task out yourself" He paused, turning to face me. I saw the level of urgency in his eyes, so I gave him a nod.
"I need you to find out who the chosen one is and when you find her. I want you to kill her." Valor said, frigidly. I couldn't believe what I just heard right now. Why did Valor want the chosen one dead? Why was he telling me this?
"I know you have a lot of questions but there was something I didn't mention to even the council. The chosen one possesses the very same magic the moon goddess used in creating our kind thousands of years ago, if this is to fall into the hands of our enemies they could harness this power to uncreate us. They could succeed in wiping out all our kind in a single swipe." Valor explained. His eyes carried the gravity of his words.
This was impossible to believe, the chosen one held the power to lead to the uncreation of werewolves. It would be the end of our entire existence. The death of an entire species, we would face extinction if this power got into the wrong hands.
I never once disagreed or argued with the option to kill but only if it was justified, the powers the chosen one possessed was a threat to our kind's existence but still it was an unnecessary bloodshed and if Valor thought I would kill my own mate then he has gone completely out of his mind.
No matter what happened no one can touch her but me. No one can harm my mate or even come close to hurting her, not even the devil had the right. Anyone who did so would be sent to clay.
"Are you sure about this?" I confirmed.
"Yes Dimitri. That is why we need to act fast. We need to make sure we find out who the chosen one is before the vampires do. They have been trying to wipe us all out for centuries and this is their perfect opportunity to do so. I know that bastard Konstantine, he won't stop till he has the chosen one" The old man answered, his voice riddled with fear. This was a great reason to be afraid but I didn't believe in the concept of fear, it was crippling and only meant worrying about the unknown which was just stupid to me. Anyways I knew Isabelle and she couldn't be a threat to our kind.
Also his fear was the very reason I wouldn't kill the chosen one even if it wasn't even my mate. Decisions made out of fear were never rational. A wolf should never hunt or kill out of fear, that has always been my motto. I never kill out of fear but only out of will.
"Goodbye Valor." That's all I said, turning around. As I was about leaving he grabbed my hand, facing me.
"What about the task?" He asked, and the only thing that I could say was.
"I will take care of it." And by 'I will take care of it' I actually mean that I will take care of my little witch myself. There was a reason the moon goddess picked me to be the chosen one's mate. The moon goddess knew the obstacles and the danger she would face and the moon goddess knew it was only I that could shield her from the eyes of the world.
