Chapter 23

Let's go home

BLOOD MOON: The Lycan Alpha's Little Witch

Isabella's Point Of View

I wake up in a dimly lit hall, seated right across Stefan and Tilda was there beside him. I remember what happened before I went unconscious. We were attacked by Stefan and his pack then Tilda stabbed me in the back, she injected me with nightbane. I was still going to kill that bitch.

Both of my wrists were in shackles, this was binding shackles, I could see the spelled runes and sigils on it. I wasn't able to do magic as long as it was on me. Fuck!

I watched as Stefan took a bite from his meal with a smile on his lips. How could he manage to smile with all the chaos he was causing?

“Isabelle you are finally awake.” He spoke with a smile.

“What the hell do you want from me?” I questioned. I was done playing in his game.

“I don't want anything from you. I'm only interested in the lycan.” Stefan answers in cold tone. I scoff at his, turning to Tilda.

“Tilda you became a rogue for this? I'm ashamed, I thought you were smarter than this.” I tell her, look in right in her eyes.

“Stefan is my mate. When he told me about what that bastard Dimitri did to his brother, I couldn't just sit back and do nothing.

“Whht do you mean by that?” I asked, taken aback by what she said about what Dimitri did to Stefan's brother.

“Oh you didn't know? Dimitri wouldn't dare mention all the despicable things he had done to you.” Stefan chuckled, “Just so like Dimitri to decieve and lie to those around him.” I stared at him as he inched closer to the table.

“Do you know Dimitri killed my brother in this very castle walls. He murdered him in cold blood.” He finally says and I laugh.

I laugh so hard that I feel it hurt. “That's it? I'm sure Dimitri had a good reason for killing your brother. The Dimitri I know would never kill someone innocent. He wouldn't kill without a good reason.” I spat at him. I believed in the Dimitri that I knew. I trusted him.

Stefan let out a terrifying laughter “You have known him for like a month, and what? You think you really know him so well. You defend him when you don't know half of the things he have done, the lives he destroyed and ripped apart. How do you think he got his name as Blood Alpha? Well I guess the bond you two share will do this to you.”

”Wake up Isabella. Dimitri is a monster and a cold blooded killer. He has murdered innocent men, women, children. He is a beast–”

“It's okay Tilda, she has made her choice. Today Dimitri will die, before I didn't have the weapon to make him suffer but now I have the last remaining golden dagger that can kill a Lycan.” Stefan smiles as he brings out the golden dagger.

“When Dimitri comes to save you I will kill him with this.”

The golden dagger was before him on the table, this was the weapon that could kill Dimitri and any lycan. I hope Dimitri don't come after me. He can't fall into this trap set by Stefan. It would be much better if he chooses not to come to save me, although the thought of that happening hurts but. Please Dimitri don't come here.

"You and I both know there isn't a chance of that happening. Dimitri would never let you get hurt, he loves you too much." Stefan commented. He also has the power of telepathy too, he had been hearing my thoughts this whole time. I needed to distract my thoughts so he doesn't know what I'm really thinking.

"Why are you still doing this? Trying to get revenge on something that happened years ago is just foolish. moreover when Dimitri did what he did to protect you." I let out angrily. This beef was pure madness! I knew Dimitri had a reason for his actions.

"Lies. So you think killing my brother was to protect me? Then you are the one who is being foolish. Oh wake up Isabella, Dimitri isn't the saint you paint him out to be. He is a insufferable, malicious bastard who doesn't feel any ounce of remorse whatsoever for the things and lives he have destroyed." Stefan flared, getting on his feet and swerving everything on his table on the floor.

"I'm not only killing Dimitri because of what he has done to me, I'm doing it because after he daggered my brother's heart right in front of me, I stared into his eyes and it didn't show any remorse for what he did. And tonight, after I am done driving this dagger into his heart and his whole meaningless life is flashing before his eyes, he will regret every single wrong thing he has done in his life. That's the closure I need." Stefan smiled sinisterly, looking back at the door.

"Just perfect. Your knight in shining armour has come to rescue you." He announced.

My eyes widen. I could hear loud screams and growling coming from outside. I wanted to run to the door but I was grabbed by Sebastian.

"Where do you think you are going? Your haven't yet played your part." Stefan said, with a smile. His eyes began to burn like burning embers. Tilda approached me, placing a dagger against my throat.

No matter how hard I tried to fight it, I knew I couldn't do anything now, not with this dagger before me.

"Do you know how a fox hunts his prey?” Stefan asks me, but I just stare at the bastard in reply. “We set traps to catch our prey. You are merely bait Isabelle and Dimitri is the prey."

I grunt, trying to fight for my freedom.

"Don't resist Isabella." I hear Tilda whisper in my ear.

“Just sit back and watch as your mate dies.” She brings her lips to my ear and whispers the unthinkable to me. My eyes widen in pure shock.

My mate. Dimitri was my mate.

The doors are bursted open and I see Dimitri walk in, his hands and body covered in blood, but I could tell none of them was his.

"Dimitri!" I manage to scream, while shalom my head to signal to him to walk away.

His distant gaze falls on me, his eyes are ensued by a burning flame, as he tries to rush to me but was stopped midway by Stefan.

"Don't do anything foolish Dimitri. You know that Tilda wouldn't hesitate in driving that blade into her neck before you get to her." Stefan says, emerging from the dark.

"Stefan!" Dimitri roars, with murder in his eyes. “I'm going to kill you!!!” Dimitri growls in anger.

"Yelling won't get you anywhere Dimitri, you have no authority here and I made you a promise remember. I swore to you that I would claim the thing you love the most, a life for a life, and a fox always keeps his promise." Stefan speaks, staring at Dimitri with a sadistic smile on his face. Dimitri's cold gaze were fixated on him in anger.

"That's the look I was looking for. Dimitri Castellan. That is the look of a cold killer, I remember that look when you murdered my brother. Now you know how it hurts when the one you love is dancing with death. There's only one way you can save Isabella, surrender yourself and let me do this world a favor by ending your life." Stefan draws out the golden dagger.

"Your life for hers. Choose." Stefan left Dimitri with a hard choice, him or me. Dimitri stared at the pointy end of the golden blade and then back at me.

My eyes remained strong in the face of death. I wouldn't crumple or show any weakness. I knew that this couldn't be the end for both of us. It can't be.

Dimitri locked eyes with me. I try to be strong and show no emotion on my face. His eyes stared at me with so much pain in them that it hurts me.

I didn't want him to sacrifice his life for me, that wasn't right. I was tired and sick with carrying the weight of that burden.

I could see Dimitri eyes widen as he watched me with deep breaths. In my eyes I try to leave a message only he could understand.

"It's okay Dimitri." I nodded as I let a tear slip. "You don't have to do it, I understand." I nodded again as he just stared at me with painful eyes.

"Thank you for being there and saving me countless times, it was appreciated." My lips quivered as I spoke. Dimitri didn't want to hear my words. I watch as his eyes became glossy. Was he tearing up?

“I'm not going to let you die Isabelle.” I hear Dimitri say, and I shake my head. My eyes blinking trying to get my message across. He needed to understand what to do. Dimitri eyebrows crease in discernment. He knew exactly what to do now.

"Times up Dimitri! Watch your mate die." Stefan shouted as he was about to give Tilda my kill order.

I watch Dimitri rush at him, pushing both of them out through the window frame. Stefan eyes widen in shock as both of them went tumbling from the extremely high tower.

My eyes sharpen as I hear Tilda scream out for her mate, in retaliation she held the blade tighter, about to press it into my neck but I quickly grab hold of her wrist, twisting and bending it against my shoulder till I hear the sounds of her bone breaking. She drops the blade and I escape from her grasp.

She shoots at me an ugly glare, as she twist her broken arm back into place.

“Finally just us ladies. What do you say you take off this shackles and we make it a fair fight.” I tell her with a smile, and she growls in reply.

“Or not.” I add.

“I'm going to enjoy peeling the skin right off your face.” She snarls.

“Then bring it on!” I challenge her, my eyes conforming into slits.

Tilda charges at me with extended claws, but I manage to escape in time before she could cut me up. My movements were restricted with the heavy shackles holding down my hands.

“A bit slow, don't you think?” I smile watching her burn up in anger. Yes, this is just what I needed, for her to be consumed in her anger.

She comes at me again but this time I duck, sending a blow with both hands to her midsection. I quickly used my shackle chains to my advantage by tying the metal chain around her neck. We both fell on the ground as she struggled to escape me but I lock her body with my legs as I continued choking her.

I quickly pull out my silver dagger and plunge it into her heart. She lets out a long gasp as her skin slowly desiccate. Her eyes and mouth hung open as she finally dies.

I find the keys the keys to my shackle and set myself free. But it wasn't over yet. I needed to get to Dimitri.

I quickly rush out of the castle, finding where they had landed.

When I arrive I find Dimitri standing there, his eyes soften when he sees me. I quickly rush to his arms and he holds me tight.

“Are you okay?” He asks me, and I nod.

“It isn't safe here Isabelle. Go back to the pack.” Dimitri says to me and I shake my head.

“No, I will stay here with you.” I tell him.

“Stefan doesn't want you. Go! I will take care of him myself.” He says, tone hard. “I can't live with myself if anything bad happened to you.” He lets out in a whisper.

“Don't worry nothing bad will happen to me. We will face Stefan together.” I say to him, giving him an assuring look and he nods back.

"Enough!" In a blur, Stefan attacks Dimitri, throwing him on the rocky ground.

"You Dimitri Castellan don't get to play the hero after all these years of being a villian." He yelled angrily. Dimitri lifted himself from the ground, delivering a hard punch at Stefan, sending him crashing into a boulder.

"I'm going to kill you." Dimitri threatened, with a murderous gaze. Stefan gets back in his feet as he let out a chuckle at Dimitri's threat.

"For almost killing your dear Isabella? It's a taste of your own medicine, What? You don't like how it tastes?" Stefan grinned sinisterly.

“Your brother was a tyrant who had lost his mind. He was possessed by the nogitsune, it had control of him. There was nothing I or anyone else could do.” Dimitri screamed at Stefan.

“He was still my brother. That wasn't a decision you get to make.” Stefan barked with am equal amount of rage and fury.

“Wanting me dead won't bring Damien back.” Dimitri say, trying to convince his mind against what he was about to do.

“But it will ease my pain.’ Stefan counters. He couldn't be reasoned with.

"I should have just ripped your heart out all those years ago when I had the chance, well it isn't too late now." Dimitri growled, as he approached where Stefan stood.

"Yes. You should have killed me then when you had a chance, that was your mistake. You left me wounded with a lot of time to find the last remaining weapon that could kill a Lycan." Dimitri's eyes narrow as Stefan reveals the golden dagger. The pointy tip gleamed eagerly, any supernatural being could sense that the little weapon was infused with a powerful torrent of magic. A magic powerful enough to kill even a lycan.

"Scared now? You should be. Only one of us is making it out of here alive old friend." Stefan scorns, as nine tails of flames appear behind him. He was surrounded by a fiery mystical glow, his eyes burning like fire.

"And I'll make sure it won't be you. This will be the end of our story old friend." Dimitri promises as he also begins to shift into his lycan form. Dimitri let out a terrifying growl, rupturing through the air.

Stefan locked eyes with Dimitri, as he held tightly to the golden dagger, the gleaming dagger pulsating with an otherworldly energy.

Stefan and Dimitri circled each other, their eyes filled with a mix of anger and determination–strong determination to kill each other. It was scary. The tension in the air was palpable as they prepared for the final, decisive confrontation, this was going to end now and I was terrified of the outcome. I wanted to step in and help but I knew this was a chapter Dimitri had to close on his own, so I stood by and watched in case he needed me.

Dimitri was powerful, with years of combat experience. He had witnessed the rise and fall of many empires and was a one man army but so was Stefan. Stefan was a pure blooded kitsune fox and former mountain god of the forest and his fox spirit was old, it aura was strong and I couldn't tell it has survived thousands of years. He was also very powerful and had been planning this day for a long time, even worse he possessed a weapon capable of hurting Dimitri. This was going to be unbearable to watch.

"Oh moon goddess, watch over him." I whisper to the Moon that hung above. I hope this wouldn't end terribly.

With a thunderous roar, Stefan lunged at Dimitri, his movements swift and precise. Dimitri parried each blow with ferocious determination, fighting without any weapon but his elongated sharp claws. In a flash, Stefan struck with the dagger almost stabbing Dimitri's chest, luckily Dimitri pivoted gracefully, narrowly escaping the attack before retaliating with a swift, calculated strike. The clash of their clawed fists sent sparks flying. Both of them growling loudly, it was a power struggle and Dimitri was winning. Dimitri delivered a powerful blow, sending Stefan flying away.

The fight raged on, their grunts and clashes echoing through the night. I watched in horror as the magical dagger danced in Stefan's hand, its deadly power threatening to end Dimitri's life with every strike and thrust. Dimitri fought carefully, trying to figure out a way to disarm Stefan.

As the battle reached its climax, Dimitri found an opening and delivered a decisive blow, disarming Stefan and knocking him to the ground. He was vulnerable, running to grab the dagger but I quickly grabbed it before he could, using my magic to destroy and turn the golden dagger to dust.

"What's wrong Stefan? Can't fight without your dagger?" Dimitri smirked.

"Don't speak!" Stefan growled rushing at Dimitri delivering furious powerful punches. But soon he was stopped, Dimitri got hold of his arm, slashing at him. Without a second hesitation, Dimitri struck his hands into Stefan's chest. Stefan gasped, his face squeezed like he was in excruciating pain as he stood still, just waiting for Dimitri to rip out his heart.

"Do it!" Stefan coughed, his lips stained with crimson. "Finish it already. Put me out of my hell you created."

Dimitri grunted, his hands still grasping onto Sebastian's heart. Instead of ripping it out, Dimitri did the opposite.

“No–” Dimitri shook his head. He couldn't bring himself to kill him, he couldn't do it.

“DO IT DIMITRI! KILL ME!!!” Stefan growled angrily. “DO IT! PUT AN END TO THIS CHAPTER ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!”

“I CAN'T!” Dimitri roared back at him. Everywhere felt intense, Dimitri tried Removing his hand from Stefan's chest but he hel held Dimitri's hand, stopping him.

“No, you have to end this now. If not I will never stop coming after you. I will come after you and take away everything you love! I will make sure I take her away from you–” and with a snap, Dimitri rips out Stefan's heart out of his chest.

Stefan let out a gasp, he grabs Dimitri's hand, his expression softened. “T-Thank y-you.” he draws in his last breath, his eyes finally closing up.

Dimitri sighed softly laying Stefan down, I knew how hard this was for him to do. I went to him placing a hand on his shoulder. He looks over at me and I give him a comforting look.

“It is over now.” I say to him with a smile.

"Come on, let's go back home." He says, returning a smile.

“Yes, let's go home.”

Together, we both headed home. I learnt something from what happened today. We all had secrets and a past threatening to swallow us up. A past we try to hide and run away from but it lingers, like a tattoo ink on the skin. The only way to be truly free from your past is to confront it face to face.

And it was time I did the same to mine. I had to come face to face with my aunt and put an end to our chapter.
