Chapter 31

Something wants me dead!

BLOOD MOON: The Lycan Alpha's Little Witch

Isabella's Point Of View

After the pack training ended, I retired back to my chambers to take a warm bath. I was beyond exhausted from the pack training with the new rogues. They new rogues weren't quite bad, I got to know a lot of them, like Mikayla, she was a wolf of the Silverclaw pack before she was assaulted by the pack's Alpha, and when she resisted his advances, the bastard accused her of being a traitor to the pack so she was banished. Thankfully she was found and accepted into the pack, she has been through a lot and deserved a fresh start.

I quickly pulled off my clothes, racing under the shower as I let the warm water drain from my head down to my feet. It was refreshing, but not close to the way I felt when Dimitri held me in his arms during training. My mind couldn't stop replaying how he carried me all the way back to the pack. See during training this morning I sprained my ankle by accident, it wasn't too serious but Dimitri wouldn't allow me walk so he carried me all the way back to the pack house. It was such a beautiful feeling to be in his arms like that.

After the shower, I got dressed in blue jeans and a white shirt. I had plans for today, I planned to give myself a tour around the pack. I was Luna of the pack, I might as well get familiarized with the workings and environment of the pack, they were now my people and responsibility too.

I first went to a small area filled with numerous houses where the werewolves stay. It was behind a road that goes left, and I saw a clear view of a creek that has a bridge over it. There are so many houses, and some buildings look to be like dorms, all resident areas for werewolves. I don't even know how many acres of land this could be. Like 200? The pack's territory was huge, much bigger than my previous pack.

I also wandered around, did you know that the pack has its own witches coven and quarters? It was located in a cave near their ancestral cemetery, where they bury their dead.

I decided to go into the cemetery and look around. It felt calm and peaceful whenever I was there. It had tombstones of so many witches and their energies could be felt strong on the soil, they were consecrated here.

"Hello dear," an old and unfamiliar voice says.

I almost jumped out of my skin. "Fuck! Jeez, you almost gave me a heart attack." I yelped, trying to regain my composure as I noticed it was just an old lady.

She looked familiar. She had pitch black hair and onyx orbs for eyes. She had some very defined features. Her face was wrinkled and pale, almost lacking blood and she had a well defined chin.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you, Luna." She apologized, her face turning to the ground.

"No, it's okay." I said assuringly, with a smile.

Yes, now I remember where I had seen her face from, I saw her earlier today, watching me from a distance during pack training. She was watching me closely too when Lance introduced me to the new pack members. Was she also one of the new rogues brought in.

"Who are you? I saw you today." I asked.

"Yes, you remember me. From where I come from most people don't usually remember my face, this makes me glad. My name is Saerah." She said with a weak smile struggling to find its place on her face. Something about this felt eerily strange.

"Where is it the place you come from?" I asked, feeling the cemetery suddenly growing cold.

She pointed far up, towards the mountains.

"From the mountains." She answered briefly. I could feel goosebumps prickle on my skin.

'Something doesn't feel right Isabella.' I heard my inner voice warn at the back of my head. And she was right though, something was wrong here.

I had a strange feeling about being here alone with her. The cemetery was desolate and this creeped me out.

"Um, okay… I'll see you later then." I said, turning around. I just wanted to get out of this situation.

"Are you leaving, so soon already?" I heard her say, her voice sounding a bit distorted. I quickly turned around, a sharp gasp escaping from my lips. I was shocked to see her standing so close to me, that wasn't the only thing that shocked me about her. Her appearance looked different. Her face was frosty white. The circles around her eyes were dark, her lips parched and beyond dry and rough.

She gripped my hands tight, her touch felt icy and cold, it sent a dreaded shiver of fear down my spine.

"Don't leave." She said, her gaze unmoving from mine.

“Let go!” I struggled to set my hands free from her cold grip but she was too strong, far stronger than her age. Finally I was able to get myself free from her grasp and I ran away from her.

I ran out of the cemetery bumping into Lance.

"Easy Luna, did you just see a ghost?" Lance joked but I couldn't laugh with him about that.

"I was just--" I turned around and I could no longer see her. It was like the old lady had vanished.

I looked at Lance whose eyes were creased with worry, waiting on me to finish my sentence.

"It's nothing, let's just get back to the pack." I just said to him, All I wanted was to get out of here.

"Lance, could you tell me more about the old lady during pack training? Saerah is her name, I think she was one of the new rogues" I ask, I needed to know more about her, something that could help me explain what I had just witnessed.

"Who's that?" He asked back, completely clueless about what I spoke about.

"She is one of the new rogues. She has black hair, pale face. Probably in her seventies or eighties?" I explained more, starting to get wary.

"Isabella, there is no new rogue that fits that description. We didn't bring in any wolf that old. Saerah doesn't exist." Lance's words placed a hole in my chest.

What did he mean that she doesn't exist? I just saw her and she was trying to kill me. This was driving me crazy, she was real, I wasn't crazy.

"What's wrong Luna?" I heard Lance's voice call me out of my thoughts.

"Oh, nothing. See you later." I said to him, we had finally arrived at the castle, so I went to my chambers.

Was I going crazy? I could have sworn she was real. I couldn't be crazy, something strange was going on here. Whoever Saerah is I am going to find out

What I know is that there was something here that wanted me dead, but why? Who hates me so much to try to get me killed?

I knew it couldn't be a monster because the pack has a boundary spell so it was impossible for any uninvited creature to get in, then who was after my life?
