Chapter 45

Family reunion

BLOOD MOON: The Lycan Alpha's Little Witch

Isabella Point Of View

The hood was peeled off revealing Death to be Andres.

It was him all along. He is Death, one of the deadly assassins of the Red circle.

Andres-- I meant Death stared at me with ice cold eyes. His frosty white hair contrasted well with his pale skin.

"Andres--" I was interrupted by Yennefer speaking.

"He is not Andres." She said, "You still haven't figured it out yet. Surely you must have felt something right? I mean after all you two are family."

My heart clenched into a tight knot at Yennefer's last words. I looked back at Andres, his expression dark and stoic. I could see it now, the resemblance to him was uncanny. He had his blue eyes.

Andres was Diego, my cousin, my blood.

I couldn't stop the single tear that ran down my cheek. After all these years he was still alive. Diego, my baby cousin. It had always been him, I found him but I didn't realize it, how didn't I realize it sooner? The strange feeling I got when I first saw him, how he knew the recipe for the dish mother used to cook for us when we were little children. I had missed all the little clues.

"Diego." I said his name in a whisper, I could see his cold expression wavering a bit at me calling him out by his true name. He wasn't Andres or Death, he was Diego.

"Oh Diego, I thought you were dead." I said, my voice finally giving in.

"Don't call me by that name, you left me there to die like an animal. After you killed everyone." He barked angrily at me. This was all a misunderstanding, I didn't abandon him, I searched for him but I couldn't find him so I assumed he died like the others but I still had hope that he survived somehow. Aunt Delilah must have kept him and brainwashed him. She fed him with lies against me so she could use him.

"No Diego. I didn't abandon you and I didn't kill our family either. You just need to believe me Diego. It was Aunt Delilah, she murdered everyone; she killed mom, dad and Aunty Maggie. I thought you died." I spoke to him, hoping I could convince him. Aunt Delilah was the enemy not me.

"Aunt Delilah told me you would tell these lies. All you ever do is lie, you killed our entire coven for more power. You destroyed our family just to absorb their magic." Diego hissed, I could see the pain in his eyes.

"Diego --" I screamed.

"I told you don't call me that. I'm no longer Diego, everyone addresses me as Death, your worst enemy." Diego said. Poor Diego, he had to grow up under the influence of that vicious monster. She corrupted his mind with so much lies and hate, I had to fix all of this.

"Enough of the melodramatic family reunion, it feels like I'm watching a soap opera right now." Yennefer chuckled. "Now Isabella you will die. Any last words?"

"This isn't the end Diego. I'll fix this." I say, talking to Diego but he didn't seem to care.

"Alright, bye Isabella." Yennefer said. I heard a blood curdling growl emanate through the mountains. I saw Dimitri lycan form jump, attacking Yennefer with his claws mercilessly. I could feel Yennefer's spell on me gone, I could move. He wasn't alone, following behind were some of the pack, I easily recognized Gabe, Lance and Iris wolves.

Dimitri turned to Diego about to attack him.

'Dimitri, please no. Don't hurt him.' I say to Dimitri through our mind link. Dimitri gave me a knowing look, before he stormed off attacking the Red circle witches that approached.

It was an all out war, as Dimitri and I fought against the red circle side by side.

Lance, Iris and Gabe were all shifted in their wolf forms, fighting against the red circle army.

I searched in the chaos for Diego, I saw a black wolf lunge at him but instantly the wolf let out a painful howl as it fell limp to its death. He looked over to me, luring me away into the mountains. I followed him.

I reached an empty clearing field and he stood there.

"Please brother, don't make me fight you." I didn't want to fight. I wanted to help him. Our aunt ruined both our lives, we needed to unite to fight against her.

He launched green flames at me but I dispelled it, redirecting the flame to burn all around like a ring of fire.

"Diego, I know you. This isn't you." I muttered.

"It's been sixteen years, Isabelle. A lot has changed. I have changed." Diego said. "Aunt Delilah was the one who saved me. She took me in, she saw the great potential in me and she trained me. She did a lot for me than you did. You left me to die." He wrapped a firm grip on my throat using his magic. "I remember it like it was yesterday, the memory haunts me when I close my eyes. I remember you with a knife, killing everyone. Mother tried to protect me but you slit her throat and you made me watch."

"I'm not going to fight you Diego, just let me help you. Aunt Delilah lied to you, she brainwashed you by filling your head up with memories that aren't true. She ruined both of our lives." I tried to reason with him.

Diego dragged me towards him using telekinesis. He snatched the pendant on my neck.

"Noo!" I screamed.

"Aunt Delilah told me not to kill you. She said she has bigger plans for you. Pray we never cross paths again sister, the next time we meet I promise I'll make do of my threat." He said before turning into black smoke, floating away to the sky.

On cue, every Red circle witch transformed into thick dark smoke, flying away, leaving us to continue battling with the revenants.

I fell down on my knees. I felt an immense energy begging to be expelled. I couldn't fight it anymore, I was tired of it all. I wanted to let it all go.

My voice gave out a loud scream, expelling out all the immense energy in me. The energy swept through the whole pack and beyond, disintegrating and burning the revenants.

I felt weak, before I could hit the ground I could feel Dimitri's arms get a hold of me as he kept on echoing my name. I faded away into the darkness.
