The Blood Moon pt1
BLOOD MOON: The Lycan Alpha's Little Witch
Isabella's Point Of View
I WAS STUCK PACING around in my room for what felt like an eternity. I was incredibly anxious because the Blood Moon was tonight, I could feel its growing power all around, this could be felt by every witch, giving them unthinkable powers. I could feel the power but I couldn't harness it because my magic was binded by the runes on my wrist.
I needed to get to Dimitri, if we don't break the curse tonight then everyone in the Blood Moon pack dies. Gabe, Lance, Gemini, Iris and Dimitri. Everyone I cared about will be engulfed by flames and reduced to ash. I'm sure the curse magic has already begun to take effect. Some of the pack will be sick and won't be able to shift, this curse needs to be broken tonight.
I felt frustrated.
My only hope was in the words of a demon which doesn't really mean much since they are natural deceitful tricksters but I had no other option here. I needed to put all my hopes in Memphis and him delivering my message.
Ugh! This was incredibly frustrating. I pray Dimitri would get here fast, before the Blood Moon elapses.
Just then the door knobs twist open, allowing in Yennefer, she was wearing a long black gown. Before she could even see me coming I quickly attacked her.
"You fucking bitch!" I say, assaulting her with my fists. Yennefer was a good fighter, and quick on her toes, her time at the pack proved that.
"Wow! You look really angry. Is it because I stopped your little escape." She grins, before throwing me a right hook, I easily caught her hand, connecting my elbow to her chin.
"Bloody Santacruz!" She grunted, directing quick attacks at me but I blocked and evaded them all as we continued fighting.
We sparred with our fists, none of us succumbing to the others' attack but when I got the perfect chance. I delivered a punch across her face, hitting her hard on the nose.
Yennefer chuckled, wiping her bloody nose with the back of her palm then looking back at me. Her purple eyes held a mischievous glint.
"Vernom údmontre ze vouxâ¦" she chanted a spell, a strong force of wind blew at me, throwing me all across the room, and crashing into the wooden drawer.
Fucking cheat!
"You are nothing but a piece of trash, you know that?" I groaned, getting back on my feet.
We both stood there, staring at each other while we caught our breaths.
"I've been called worse." She chortled.
"Now because of you everyone in the blood moon pack is doomed. They are all going to die, including Gabe. By stopping me from escaping you dig his grave." I spat, my anger rising. How could she be so heartless to her own mate, she didn't deserve a sweet soul like Gabe.
"Why is Gabe in danger?" Yennefer asks.
"Because he is part of the Blood Moon curse. If the Blood Moon passes and I don't break the curse he dies too. If Dimitri dies he dies, they are all linked." I explained to her, looking back at her furiously.
"How could you be so cruel to your own mate? You don't deserve a mate like Gabe." I say bitterly. I could see her purple eyes soften with concern and anger in equal measure.
Did she care about Gabe? Maybe after all the time she spent deceiving the pack and lying to Gabe, did she actually develop some feelings for him?
"You don't get to tell me that!" She bit out, her words laced with bitterness and self loathing.
"Why not?" I questioned.
"If you ever cared about him even just a little you would let me go." I say gently, trying my best to convince her.
She scoffs, shaking her head. "Are you out of your bloody mind? You know I can't possibly do that." Her words were laced heavily with irony.
"Open your fucking eyes Yennefer! Delilah doesn't care about you, she is just using you. You are just a pawn in her game and when you have outlived your usefulness she is going to discard you." I said, my voice filled with conviction.
"Just because she wants you dead and executed your entire coven doesn't mean that she is going to do the same to me. You are just saying anything to save your hide." She hissed bitterly.
"I know my aunt very well. After she has gotten what she wants, when you have served your purpose and when she has no more use for you, she will kill you. Remember this." I warned, my voice tinged with concern. "I just hope then it won't be too late for you then."
"Enough, we have to leave. My master is waiting for you." She responded, leading the way.
I followed Yennefer through a path out of the castle, leading deep into the woods.
We finally arrived at a clearing where Delilah was waiting for us, she wasn't alone. Diego was there beside her, there was something different in the way he stared at me, I could see conflict.
They both stood before a giant willow tree. It was huge with stretched out branches, all the leaves had dried out and it was caused by black magic. It felt ancient and old, there was indeed something about this strange tree.
It was already getting dark and the Blood Moon had already started rising, it was visible in the sky, filling everywhere with its supreme power.
"I'm glad you could make it my little niece." Delilah beams looking like a nut case. She was overly excited, this could only mean her diabolical plans were underway.
"What is going on?" I demanded.
"Can't you tell? It's already started, the world is about to be born in darkness." She says with a grin.
"The blood moon has already started to rise. We need to get everything ready for the Dark One's awakening and you have a huge role to play in this." Delilah added as she approached me.
I could see my onyx pendant. It was kept in a pillar of red stone.
"All I need now from you, my dearest niece, is your blood." Delilah grabbed my hand, slicing open my palm. I groan at the sting.
She placed my bleeding palm on a red stone next to the onyx pendant. I could feel the stone suck and absorb my blood, leaving me feeling weak.
The onyx pendant started to glisten and soon a magical black hole began to form. This was the portal to the prison world. The gate to the prison world was opened.
"After all this years, the Santacruz bloodline prison world finally opens." She turns back to me with an evil glint in her eyes.
"Let's go in together." Delilah tells me, pulling me into the portal. We are instantly teleported into the prison dimension.
My eyes feast around on this new world. Everything here in this world looked so different from ours.
For starters the entire prison world was upside down, and I'm not just saying it figuratively, I meant it literally. everywhere was hanging upside down which made me feel nauseated at first but I was slowly coming around it.
Also, there were three giant red moons that burned and revolved in the sky, casting down a red fiery glow all around.
We were standing before a huge willow tree. It was the same tree in our realm. This was why I could feel a lot of black energy coming off from the tree.
I could hear shrieking and thunderous roars coming from a distance. I knew we weren't the only things alive here.
"What are those?" I question, turning to Delilah.
"Our ancestors used to use this place as a prison to hold beings that were immortal. This was the Black Rose coven little prison where they trapped monsters and beings that couldn't be killed. Your mother actually imprisoned quite a number of beings too. This was the ultimate punishment for evil." Delilah explained with her smile unfading.
After thousands of years, I wonder how many immortal creatures were imprisoned here. And what would happen to our world if they ever got out?
"Come on now, we need to act fast. There isn't much time left. The dark one has started her awakening, she can feel the power of the Santacruz bloodline calling to her." Delilah said drawing a circle in the ground.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"See little Bella, I left out some tiny part in all this. Our ancestor Jósephine Santacruz and the coven actually hurt Namek really badly during the battle thousands of years ago but Jósephine couldn't kill her own daughter, she couldn't do it. So she imprisoned her instead. But the Dark One's body was severely damaged...
The Dark one needs a vessel to possess before she can come into our world again and she can only jump into a witch of Santacruz blood." Delilah paused, looking at me.
"You-- You are going to be the Dark one's vessel. That's how you intend to gain more power." I answered, Delilah's smile grew wider.
She was insane, she was willing to go so far as to allow herself to be possessed by Darkness, this Darkness was forbidden and was going to end up destroying her. She wouldn't even be in control of her own body anymore.
"You have gone completely out of your bloody mind!" I screamed at her and all she did was laugh hysterically.
"Oh and that's not all." I looked back at her, wondering what else she was keeping from me.
"For the Dark one to rise there needs to be a blood sacrifice. A Santacruz blood." She grinned at me, holding out her hand. A sharp stick flew, stabbing me in my stomach. I could feel the pain from the sharp stake impaling my stomach, oh goddess it hurt.
My blood flowed like a river, trailing in several lines to the ancient tree which seemed to feed off my blood. It was getting greener and healthier. My blood was reviving the tree, Namek was waking.
"I'm sorry little Bella but you won't be a part of the new world that is coming." Delilah said with an overjoyed smile. She wasn't sorry in the littlest way.
I groaned, holding tight to the stake that pierced through me, trying to slow down the bleeding. I could feel the tree suck out my blood like a goddamn vampire, and I wasn't healing without my magic.
"Omnis Ãmmúndus spiritus draco maledictè te rogà mus" Delilah started the spell. She chanted in an old tongue, she was raising the Dark one.
"Goodbye Isabella. You have outlived your usefulness to me." Delilah raised up a dagger with her magic, directing it at my heart, and this time I knew this would be her final attack on me. It was going to be over for me now.
"Any last words before you join our ancestors and the coven I killed?" She asked with a grin.
"You're going to regret everything in the end." I spat at her.
She scoffs at my words "I highly doubt that I will." She let the dagger fly across, aiming for my heart, but I wasn't afraid. If this was the way I was destined by the moon goddess to die, I was going to face it without any fear, my only regret was that I couldn't save Dimitri and the pack.
But then something unbelievable happened...
As the dagger approached me at lightning speed, Diego came from behind, shielding me with his arms. He created a magical protection shield that stopped Delilah's attack.
"Diegoâ¦" I said, shocked to see him here, and saving me.
"I remember everything now, Isabella. You weren't to blame for our families death. Forgive me primà , my memories were replaced and I thought that this pain I felt was all your fault." Diego says, his cold blue eyes finally melting for the first time. I could see regret and pain washing off from his eyes. The Diego I knew as kids was back.
He shouldn't apologize to me, it wasn't just fault. I pulled him into a tight hug.
"It's okay Diego, it wasn't your fault either. You were bewitched." I tell him, wiping the tears that flowed down from my little cousin's face. I'm so glad to have him back.
"Aww! Well isn't this just sweet. Both last Santacruz bloodlines have finally united after all these years. Too bad it's already too late. Now both of you will die together!" Delilah scorned, laughing like a deranged lunatic.
"You used me! You brought me up like your perfect little weapon, pulling my strings but not anymore aunt. Today will be your last. Take it as Death's final promise to you." Diego sneered vengefully.
"You know you can never defeat me alone, Diego. You are far too weak for that." She laughed scornfully.
"Whoever said I was alone." Diego remarked.
"He isn't alone." I grunted, pulling myself up. Diego took my wrist in his hand, whispering an incantation.
The binding runes on my wrists used to block my magic faded. I could feel all my magic crash into me. I could tap into my powers and my mate bond was active. I could feel Dimitri again.
He was close by. He had come for me
I pulled out the stake in me, the wound inflicted by Delilah had begun to heal up quickly. My blood stopped flowing causing the ancient tree to desiccate slowly.
"Nooo!!!" She screamed furiously, her eyes burning with rage.
"We are going to put an end to you today for all of the Black Rose coven." I told her.
"And I am also going to be helping them." I heard a voice mutter from behind. It was Yennefer, she walked towards us, standing beside me.
She looked over at me with a smile and then at Diego who nodded to her. She wasn't evil after all, she had good in her too.
"You all are just a bunch of traitors! Is this how you choose to repay me after taking you in Yennefer? I taught you everything you know, every spell, every technique. You were my protege." Delilah bit out furiously
"Well what Isabelle said to me was right, you were going to kill me in the end. And you shouldn't have tried to kill my mate. I can't allow you to hurt him." Yennefer replied.
Delilah chuckled coldness drenching her eyes. "Love was always a weakness. It makes you weak and delusional, I taught you better than this, Yen."
"Love doesn't make me weak, it gives hope, it makes me want to be better. But you wouldn't know this since you have never loved anyone before, not even yourself." Yennefer scorned.
"Fine. That's just one more body to kill." Delilah said. "Santrium kedavra!" She chanted a death spell at Yennefer but she countered it with another spell, redirecting it back at Delilah.
We all attacked her, all at once, trading spells and deadly attacks. She was incredibly powerful, managing to single-handedly block and attack three of us at the same time.
I had faced many enemies in the past that wanted me dead, but none as powerful as Delilah. The dark witch was a force to be reckoned with.
Delilah was the most feared witch in the world and the supreme witch to the world's most deadly coven of assassins. She was fused with a vast amount of black magic and equipped with various spells.
Yennefer lunged at Delilah, waving destructive spells at the dark witch, they both took flight in the air. Delilah flung Yennefer far away, and Yennefer crashed hard into a rock. She wasn't moving.
Delilah then conjured up vines from the earth, all of them approaching me speedily. Diego ran in front of me blocking and protecting me from all harm with a spell, but instead he got stabbed in the chest by the vines.
He was bleeding out profusely, his blood flowing in the ground and onto the ancient tree which hungrily fed on it.
"Diego!" I cried, holding him in my arms. "Why did you do that? I could have stopped it." My tears fell like rain, as I cling onto him.
"I couldn't let anything bad happen to you. I would rather be the one hurt." He choked in his own blood as he spoke. He was hurt badly, his eyes closing faintly.
"I guess it's you and me left." Delilah grinned about to attack me.
Delilah charged at me, her eyes flashing with anger. I gazed at her furiously, rage engulfed me and I could feel an unearthly power consume me.
"I'm going to kill you!" I scream. I began to chant in ancient tongue, summoning the forces of nature.
A surge of energy flowed through my body, and a glowing light enveloped me. Delilah faltered, taken momentarily aback by my powers. She grunted, attacking me with multiple spells that I dismissed, tossing her away with a strong force. I attacked her with all my magic, successfully disarming and weakening her with my spells, she laid limp on the ground.
"Do it! Kill me! I always knew I saw a lot of me in you. Prove to me that you are just like me." She smiled weakly, staring up at me as she groveled.
I was about to end her life for every single bad thing that she had done but then I couldn't do it.
I won't be like her. I won't become the same monster I despised all these years. I won't stain my hands with Santacruz blood, I won't become her.
"I'm nothing like you!" I grit, closing my eyes as I chant a spell lowly.
I marked her with a binding spell far worse than she did to me. She was spelled and couldn't access her magic at all and I was the only one that could undo it. I expelled her dark magic, making her vulnerable and powerless.
She gasped dryly, falling to the ground feeling powerless. She was without her magic now.
"What did you-- do to me?" She breathed heavily.
"You won't be doing magic ever again aunt. And as your ultimate punishment, the prison world will become your new home." I told her. She glared at me, her eyes pleading for me to just kill her but she knew I wouldn't.
"Why don't you just kill me!!" She begged.
"You don't even deserve death. That wouldn't be enough for the lives you destroyed. You will be trapped in this prison world for all of eternity. That will be your punishment. I hope you enjoy your hell." I chuckled, finally breathing a breath of relief.
I rushed over to Diego, he was held by Yennefer who tried to stop his bleeding. He lost a huge amount of blood and he wasn't healing on his own.
The ancient tree, it was feeding off his blood. The tree had grown bigger and taller, bearing dark fruits. The prison world was being engulfed in darkness.
The dark one.
Her wakening was complete. Namek was already awake, I could feel it. We cannot let her get into our world, we need to close the prison world now!
"We need to get out of here, now!" I say. Yennefer understood immediately what was happening. We grabbed onto Diego and ran towards the fading portal, the echoes of Darkness was just behind us.
Just in the nick of time, we manage to make it out of the prison world. I grabbed the onyx pendant, closing the portal.
Rafael's castle was engulfed in flames, they were under attack. I could hear the chaos and the screams coming from the castle even from a distance.
It was Dimitri. My family has come for me.
I looked up at the Blood Moon, it was already fading into the night sky. There wasn't much time left before the Blood Moon was over.
I needed to find Dimitri fast. If this moment passes and I can't break the curse, they all die.
I looked over at Diego who was still badly injured, covered in his own blood.
"Isabelle go! I'll take care of him, I promise. You need to break the curse and save the pack." Yennefer said. She was right. I needed to save the pack, but I couldn't leave him behind.
"Go Isabella. I'm fine. I'm healing." Diego coughs up more blood. He was lying, he wasn't healing. Delilah's dark magic was making it difficult for him to heal.
"Just hang in there Diego. I'll come back for you." I promised him, running into the woods and back to the castle. I was following the mate pull, it was drawing and leading me back to my mate.
I arrived at the castle to find it in great pandemonium. I encountered some Black Blood wolves on my path, with my magic I cursed them to their death. I said a spell plucking out the hearts of the wolves that came at me,
I was cornered by Rafael and some of his warriors, among which was Heath. Rafael had a murderous look in his eyes as he grabbed onto my wrist, pulling me.
"We have to go now. You are coming with me Isabella." He snarled, dragging me along.
"No, let me go." I resisted, standing my ground.
"You belong to me. You are mine." Rafael muttered.
A smile crept up on my lips, I suddenly had a warm feeling, it was like I was struck by electricity, it was a beautiful feeling, I finally felt alive and I knew who it was.
"I don't belong to you Rafael, I never did. I belong to him." I say, looking ahead in the distance at a pair of red eyes.
It was my mate. Dimitri.
A thunderous growl shook the earth, sending fear into the heart of our enemies. Rafael looked ahead at the pair of blazing eyes, his face suddenly turning paler than a vampire. He knew he was as good as dead now.
My mate has come for me.
