Chapter 199: Meh

“Main…Character…System…!” The Directional Misalignment System trembled in fright, not because it knew of the other party’s existence, but because of the words.

A System was named based on the power it possessed. So, just based on the name, the extent to its powers could be determined. It also showed how powerful it became.

Suppose one pit the Beast Form System against the Coincidental Luck System, with both being at level 10. Ten times out of ten, the victor would be the Coincidental Luck System. It was a simple difference in the fate they possessed and the power of their abilities.

It showed the domain of authority they wielded. For the Coincidental Luck System, anything based on coincidence and luck was under its authority. And, it was a vast ocean that was effective in every single world, even whether life existed there or not.

As long as matter existed, coincidences would exist. That’s all. The Coincidental Luck System’s authority was related to that.

And in contrast, the Beast Form System’s authority was related to beasts. And, something was generally labelled a beast when it wasn’t sentient. A monster of a sort.

Its authority paled in comparison to the Coincidental Luck System. So, even if they were at the same level, when the two Systems clashed, the Beast Form System would never be able to win against its opponent.

Along that same vein of thought, the words Main Character held tremendous weight. What was the one entity that can go against predictions, destroy logic, create heaven-shattering items, resist the tide of nature and achieve victory even though the most perilous and impossible situations?

It was the Main Character!

The Main Character, one around whom the world revolved. Such was the weight a System with such a name possessed.

So, the Directional Misalignment System was flabbergasted upon hearing Compass Carburettor address himself with such a name.

Seeing its reactions and doubts, Compass Carburettor said, “Well, there are a lot of things I am puzzled about myself. Let’s chat. And, if you satisfy my curiosity, I’ll set you free.”

Just when the Directional Misalignment System wished to resist, it watched the two worlds behind Compass Carburettor gently move a little, intimidating it.

It hurriedly spoke in response, clearly not having the strength to resist the attacks from the two worlds, “Let’s talk! Let’s talk!”

“Alright,” Smiling in response, Compass Carburettor asked, “Well, first of all, can you tell me more about your group?”

‘Is he asking about the group I am a part of?’ Even though it didn’t wish to betray the Great Lords part of that group, it intended to live. So, without any hesitation, it opened its mouth, beginning to speak, “Our group is a subset of the Four Directional Alliance.”

“Four Directional Alliance?” Compass Carburettor frowned, “What’s that?”

“It’s a group created by Systems primarily part of four genres: Luck, Monetary, Recovery, and Transportation. It is because the Systems from these four Genres are the most targeted among all the System Genres.” The Directional Misalignment System said, “That’s because their powers are incredibly useful.”

“If we come across a System from this genre, even if it meant injuring ourselves, we’ll still absorb their Core Skills.” It continued, “With luck, we’ll suffer fewer setbacks and gain more advantages. Monetary would allow us to harvest more Mental Energy. Recovery would prevent our Hosts from dying no matter the state his body is in. And finally, Transportation allows us to transport our Host from any danger without trouble.”

‘So, does that mean the Money-Making System would be targeted by the other Systems?’ He frowned, worrying as he thought of Fourth. Previously, Fourth had saved him in the System World.

He had been rather close at the start. And, only if he had accompanied the Money-Making System’s portal to arrive at the System World would he have been nearby. Otherwise, the decisiveness at which he saved Compass Carburettor would be odd. After all, it wasn’t easy to judge the powers of a System based on its appearance alone.

A System didn’t just possess its Core Skill, but also the Skills that it had bought from other Systems. So, it’ll be a tricky opponent to face against.

And that meant that Fourth was aware that a monetary System existed on Earth. Maybe he had previously failed to kill Compass Carburettor due to how protected and isolated he was. Or by the time he reached Carburettor Island, the Money-Making System decided to return to the System World.

But now, the host to the Money-Making System was Stencil, a naïve child who had lost her only family. Targeting her would be easier for Fourth, especially since he has five Core Skills.

So, if he tried to aim for the Stencil…

Compass Carburettor controlled himself at this train of thought, deciding that there was no point in worrying so much. Instead, it would be better to proceed with an optimistic thought process. Having a pessimistic outlook would only eat up his sanity.

Sighing, he gazed at the Directional Misalignment System, “Continue.”

“Our sub-group is something we created to hinder the Coincidental Luck System’s growth. It’s because, at present, the Coincidental Luck System has the highest chance in reaching level 99 as compared to the other Systems in the luck genre.” It spoke, “And, most of them range around the late eighties and early nineties in level. So, the competition is tougher between them.”

“This sub-group would only exist until the advantages of the Coincidental Luck System reduces to the extent it wouldn’t be the first to reach level 99.”

“I see, that makes sense.” Compass Carburettor nodded, “Then, tell me more about System Slayers. How much do you know about them?”

“I only know what is generally known about them.” It said, continuing, “A System Slayer is limited by the level of their original System. If their original System is level 5, then after becoming a System Slayer, they’ll only be able to hold four System Fragments. This limit would only vanish once they absorb their original System and become true System Slayers. With that, they’ll be able to hold ten System Fragments once they cross level 10.”

Compass Carburettor frowned, nodding, motioning for it to continue.

Not knowing whether he was pleased or not with the information, the Directional Misalignment System thought harder and said, “True System Slayers obtain an ability to create a portal to their home world by expending a lot of Mental Energy in the System World. They can also make portals from any world that would lead them to the System World.”

“As for the normal System Slayers…” It said after some consideration, “Meh!”
