Chapter 201: Never Trust a Scheming Human
I Hate Systems
The chain of light erected by the Darble World wound around the Directional Misalignment System, bounding it. As it didnât have much Mental Energy remaining, it wasnât able to break free, remaining even more helpless than the Slave Harem System.
âStop!â It shouted in alarm when a bullet slammed into it, breaking a chunk of its body in the process.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
The Directional Misalignment System looked like a yarn of arrows that was bundled in a messy arrangement. It was an erratic cluster. There wasnât just one arrow in it, but rather hundreds, with each seemingly like a different part.
They were disconnected.
The moment Earth began to fire projectiles at it, the cluster of arrows compressed themselves before bursting out, slipping through the confinement as quite a few of them escaped.
Countless tentacles of light appeared from the Darble World as they tried to wrap around the flying arrows while from time to time, Earth would blast forth a bullet at an arrow, killing it. But, only one in every twenty bullets hit its target.
After all, the arrows were able to affect trajectories in the direction they pointed at. But, since each arrow was only capable of pointing in a certain direction, as long as the bullet targeted it from a different direction while it was affecting another bullet, it would be destroyed.
Compass Carburettor condensed two Anthozoa in his hands, shooting a flurry of bullets at the arrows, distracting them to affect his bullets when Earthâs bullets destroyed them.
And, when the arrows tried to pierce him, he condensed a film of light before him, expanding it in size to throw the arrows off.
In the world of his mind, he was able to use all the abilities that he possessed. At present, he wasnât able to use his Darlac because he didnât have an Armament. But in the world of his mind, he could simply condense one and use it for his attacks.
As long as it was something he was capable of doing, he was able to do it here.
But, Compass Carburettor didnât press forth on his attacks, slowly attacking the arrows. The problem was his insufficient Mental Energy reserves.
As he wasnât a True System Slayer, he wasnât able to store Mental Energy in his body. All he possessed were those that he forcefully trapped within his Mental Energy Form. And, it wasnât much to note about.
So, he primarily relied upon the Mental Energy influx he received from the customers of the café and the internet café that he had worked at for a week.
The amount wasnât much. And, they werenât consistent. After all, it wasnât as if the people would constantly talk about him. Other than being a handsome guy that worked at the place, he hadnât done anything noteworthy.
So, at most, he would be talked about a couple of times. Or for some that lusted after his appearance, even if they didnât talk about him, they would at least think about him enough times, wondering the reason for his disappearance.
And that was the primary source for his Mental Energy. And since he was getting an almost consistent amount per day, he paced himself accordingly, slowly whittling down his opponent while leaving some excess Mental Energy to spare.
What the Directional Misalignment System was doing now was just a futile effort. Not many arrows escaped from the bindings. And, it was aware that once the dispersed arrows condensed into a cluster, the Darble World would take the chance to bind itself.
Adding that onto the projectile assault by Earth, it wouldnât be able to redirect all the attacks. So, it was only prolonging its life by trying to fly everywhere it wished within the mental space.
âJustâ¦let me live.â The Directional Misalignment System shouted in agony, âYou can put me under your Slave Haremâs influence. But please, allow me to survive.â
âYou said it before,â Compass Carburettor laughed, âItâll take me a couple of years to put you under its effect. But, I donât have the leeway of time, right?â
âSurely your fellow Systems would try to save you by then. After all, you dying here would mean a decrease in the opponents Rhizen has to face.â He nailed the point, âAnd before I manage to put you under my control, youâll have enough time to casually connect to the Astral Network and inform them of the situation.â
âNo! No! I wonât do that.â The Directional Misalignment System screamed, watching even more of its arrows getting destroyed. âI can use a Skill to vow upon the terms.â
âLeave that aside,â Compass Carburettor shook his head, defending against a couple of arrows that tried to injure him as he spoke, âAll you need to do is state the names of all the Systems that have descended in this world, and the names of those in your sub-group. Do that, and Iâll set you free.â
âWhat makes you think Iâll believe you a second time?â It retorted in anger, looking like he was mocking its intelligence.
âSimple,â He laughed, pointing at the arrows, âEvery time you name a System, Iâll free an arrow from the cluster. Letâs start with those that manage your sub-group.â
âFine,â Left with no other choice, the Directional Misalignment System could only agree. It had lost the initiative from the moment it appeared in this mental space.
âDestiny Luck, level 92.â
âGreat.â Compass Carburettor released one arrow from the hold.
âHappy-Go-Lucky, level 88.â
âContinue,â He released one more arrow.
The Directional Misalignment System then continued to iterate the names and levels of every System it knew about. After the ones in the group were all named, it then named the Systems that had arrived at the world.
Finally, Compass Carburettor frowned, âSo, no System from the Luck Genre has entered the world. Thatâs sad.â
âOf course, if they did that, the Coincidental Luck System would gobble them up. It would only serve to strengthen its powers further.â It replied, noticing that less than twenty arrows were left within the constriction, saying, âPlease ask me more.â
âSure, whatâs your next plan to target Rhizen?â
âI donât know.â It replied, âI was only briefed about my plan. And, this is the first time I am entering this world.â
âFair enough,â Compass Carburettor laughed when suddenly, a powerful bullet landed on an arrow within the layer of light tentacles, destroying it, causing the Directional Misalignment System to scream in agony, âWhy?â
âWell,â He laughed, âDid your parents never teach you?â
âTo never trust a scheming human?â
