Chapter 14
Whispered Promise✔️
AUTHOR POV
"Raghav beta, Ekansh beta aap dono ko khana accha laga?" Prashant (Siya's uncle) asked them.
[Raghav, Ekansh my sons you both liked the dinner?]
"Ji hai bohot accha khana tha uncle, thank you uncle aunty" Ekansh said.
[Yes, it was very nice, thank you uncle aunty]
"Yes, mujhe bhi bohot pasand aaya. Thank you!" Raghav said.
[Yeah, even I liked it. Thank you!]
"Waha naye jiju kya aa Gaye purane wale ko bhul he Gaye aap dono tho. Dekho dodo discrimination" Krish said playfully.
[Wow just look at uncle aunty, they're so biased towards my new brother-in-law. Dodo, they didn't even asked if youliked the food. This is discrimination]
"Aree aisa nahi hai Krish, Raghav aur Ekansh bhai abhi abhi mile hai na. Agar unko koi discomfort hua tho who thodi na aisehe bolege, unko thoda hesitation hoga isleye. Mujhe Pata hai mere uncle aunty kabhi discrimination nahi kar sakte hum sab ke beech, who sabko pyare karte hai" Harshad said.
[It's not like that Krish, Raghav and Ekansh bhai are new family members. They both met uncle aunty just a few hours ago, if they are feeling some kind if discomfort they won't be able to talk about it as easily as we could. And I know my uncle aunty would never have any kinds of biased. They love us all equally]
"Dekho Krish, kuch seekho Harshad se Kitna pyara ladka hai. Aur ek tu hai khoto sikko" Aunty said making everyone except Krish chuckle.
[Learn something from Harshad, Krish just look at him, he's so sweet. On the other hand you are good for nothing]
"Siya Kal tere sasural wale sham tak aa jayege, tune packing start ki?" Aunty asked Siya and Siya looked shocked. She didn't understand the gravity of the situation and it hit her hard in this one moment. With her time here she felt like everything was back to normal but the realization sinked in she will have to leave.
[Siya, your in laws will be here tomorrow by evening. Did you start packing?]
"Nahi na, mujhe Pata tha isleye mai aaj jake ye tere liye naye suitcases leke aai. Abhi bhi itna late nahi hua hai, aur tera ghar pass mei he hai. Abhi thodi packing kar le aur subhe kar Lena bachi hue" Aunty said and Siya nodded. She felt a little numb at the moment.
[No right, I knew it therefore I went and bought these suitcases for you. Now go home it's not too late, start packing. And whatever packing will be remaining do it tomorrow, okay?]
"Siya let's go in my car" Raghav said and Siya nodded.
"Yes, ye thik rahega. Siya tu Raghav ko apna ghar bhi dekha dena aur packing bhi ho jayegi" Uncle said.
"Raghav, Siya ye lo suitcases and ye pooja ki sab cheeze. Waha jake bags mei kuch dalne se pehele mujhe video call karna. Siya tujhe ye suitcases ki hodi Pooja Karni padegi. Mai aana chahati thi saath mei par ye suitcases k baad mere liye car mei jagah nahi hogi aur I'm definitely sure waha pe 2 cars ki parking nahi hogi isleye tum dono jao aur acche se wapas aa jana" Aunty said and Siya and Raghav both nodded.
[Raghav, Siya take these suitcases and also these things for Pooja. Call me before you start packing your suitcases, you need to perform a Pooja. I wanted to come but I don't think there will be enough space left once these suitcases are in the car. And we won't be able tk take another car because of parking issues. Now you both go a d come home safely]
"Aree Revti, hum jo Siya ke liye shagun laye the voh tho do usse" Prashant uncle reminded her.
[Revti, give Siya our token of good omen]
"Oh hai mai tho bhul he gayi, ek minute" Revti went inside her bedroom and brought a box. Prashant came beside Revti and they both gave Siya the box.
[Oh I almost forgot about that, one minute I'll be back]
"Siya, ye humari taraf se tumhari shadi ka shagun. Ek saree hai ismei ho sake tho ye apne sasural ke pehele din pehen na aur ye suit Kal pehen na jab tumhare sasural wale tumhe lene aaege" Revti said.
[Siya, this is your shagun for your wedding. If possible wear this saree on your first day in your new home and there is a suit inside too wear it tomorrow when your in-laws come here to take you]
"Thank you uncle aunty. I love you both so much. Aapke rehete aapne mere mummy papa ki kami mehesus hone nahi de" Siya said and touched their feet. Then they both hugged Siya.
[You never made me feel like an orphan after my parents were gone]
"Sada khush raho Siya" The elderly couple said.
[Always stay blessed and happy]
"Siya, ye humari traf se shagun" Samiraa said.
[Siya this is from me and Harshad]
Harshad gave the jewellery box to Siya.
"It's beautiful didi, jiju. Isn't it Hukum?" Siya said as she took the necklace in her hand. Raghav nodded and said its gorgeous.
"Siya thoda sambhalke voh asli hai" Samiraa said and Siya got a mini heart attack.
[Siya be a little careful with that. It's made of real gold and diamonds]
"Kya!!!" Siya asked.
[What!!!]
"Tho phir, apni beti ko kya mai nakli gehene Duga uski shadi pe" Harshad said.
[Yep, ofcourse we won't give fake jewelleries to our dear Siya on her wedding]
"Didi, mast hai na. Maine aur Ekansh bhaiya ne Pura din nikal diya ye jewellery choose karne mei" Krish said.
[Didi, it's really pretty right. It took a whole day for me and Ekansh bhaiya to choose this set]
"Hai, Siya Maine he bola tha Krish aur Ekansh bhai ko ki meri aur Samiraa taraf se tumhare liye ek mast jewllery set leke aae. Isleye ye dono humare saath goan nahi aa paye" Harshad said.
[Yes Siya, I asked both of them to pick a jewellery set on my and Sam's behalf. That was the reason why they both weren't able to come with us to the village]
"Thank you, it's really beautiful" Siya said with moist eyes"
"And Raghav beta don't worry we haven't forgotten you. We will give you your shagun tomorrow infront of your family" Prashant said.
"Aree uski kya zarurat thi" Raghav said with a slight smile.
[There was no need for that]
"Aisa nahi hota beta. Ye shagun hota hai zaruri hota hai shub vaivahik Jeevan k liye. Chalo ab late ho raha hai" Revti said.
[Don't say that son. Shagun is important for a good married life. Okay its getting late you both should leave]
"We will help you with these luggage" Ekansh and Harshad said.
Soon, the empty suitcases were loaded in the car and Raghav and Siya went to her home.
"Ek minute, mai abhi aaya. Stay here" Raghav said as he parked the car in a general stores parking area.
[I'll be back soon. Stay here]
In a few minutes Raghav was back in the driver's seat.
"Ye tumhare liye" he said and passed the bag to Siya.
[This is for you]
"Ye kya hai?" Siya asked. [What is it?]
"Open it. I hope this will help to life your mood. I can feel you're feeling a bit low, even though I'm not sure what the reason might be" Raghav explained.
Siya looked in the bag and found in filled with different types if chocolates, there was a gajra (jasmine flower chain meant as a hair accessor) and a show piece that made Siya gasped.
"Oh my god this is so beautiful Hukum" Siya said with a wide smile.
"You liked it? I'm glad it brought a smile to your face" Raghav said smiling.
"Hukum I loved it thank you. You know I'll keep it in our room at your home in Rajasthan" Siya said admiring the glass/crystal flower.
"Our home biwi, our home. It's your home too Siya" Raghav said as he start the car. Siya smiled and decided to open up to Raghav.
"Hukum, you know when Revti aunty mentioned about packing I literally freezed. It was like I didn't realized I had to leave Ahmedabad forever. I went numb, when we reached here I felt like everything was back to normal but now it has started to sink in and that's why I was so quiet" Siya said Raghav held Siya's hand in his left hand and squeezed it twice expressing that he understands and us here beside her always.
"You have a very cozy home Siya" Raghav said.
"Just say it Hukum, ye ghar bohot chota hai aur aapko Raj mahal mei rehene ki aadat hai" Siya taunted and they both chuckled.
[This house is too small for someone like you who is habitual to live in palaces]
"You start arranging your things Siya I'll bring the remaining bags and then we can call aunty" Raghav said and Siya nodded.
"Accha Siya ab who gila kumkum le aur tere suitcase pe swastik bana" Revti aunty said from the call.
[Okay now take some kumkum and make a swastika on the suitcase]
"Ab jo shagun ke paise hummne aur Harshad Samiraa ne diye hai who suitcase k ek khane mei rakh aur upar se thode chawal dal" Prashant uncle said.
[Now the shagun money that we and Harshad, Samiraa gave you keep that in one of the pockets of the suitcase and put some rice on it]
"Ab jaldi se packing shuru kar aur hai sabse pehele who saree jo Maine de hai who rakhna aur phir gehene" Aunty said and then soon they ended the call.
[Okay, Now start the packing and yeah first place the saree that we gave you in the suitcase and then the jewelleries]
Raghav could feel that Siya was overwhelmed by all these things. So he went towards her and said, "Siya get up, come her".
He forwarded his hand to Siya which Siya took and stood up. Raghav didn't say anything and just pulled her in a hug. Siya broke down.
Raghav pulled her more closer to him and caressed her hair. He said, "Hush, it's okay Siya. I know all this is new to you, and you never imagined leaving you home her in Ahmedabad and that too so suddenly but I promise I will make you feel like home. We will visit here often Siya, I promise and....."
".... And R-Raghav Raghuvanshi never b-breaks his promise" Siya said in between her sobs and they both shared a little giggle on that comment.
"Chalo now let's start packing. Phir Kal tho tum jab sab se milogi uske baad voh tumhe kuch kam nahi karne denge apne pass rakhenge apni beti jaise" Raghav said and Siya hugged him tightly finding comfort in his arms.
[Come on let's start packing. You won't have time tomorrow cause once our family members meet you they won't let you do anything. They'll just keep you by their side like a daughter]
They both started packing and first Siya kept the Saree given by her uncle and aunty. Then the jewelleries given by Samiraa and Harshad. Then she kept the glass/crystal flower that Raghav gave her today. After that she packed all her clothes.
"Siya I thought you were an innocent girl. What is this?" Raghav asked and Siya looked towards him confuse. It was then she realized that he was holding the book twisted lies by Ana Huang.
"Hukum nahi!!!! Please usse bina kuch kare bag mei rakh dijiye" Siya pleased to which Raghav just laughed shaking his head but kept it inside.
"Don't worry baby I'll make all your fantasies come true one day" Raghav said in a husky voice making Siya blush.
They didn't realize how much time passed by but soon they were done with the packing. But it was way passed midnight.
On their way back to Prashant and Revti's house they both were tired.
"Hukum, what should I do? Should I wear a saree tomorrow?" Siya asked.
"No why?? Uncle aunty gave you the kurti as a shagun right. Wear that" Raghav said.
"But that's a kurti and I'm married, how can I wear a kurti on the first time when they see me" Siya asked getting nervous.
"Siya, calm down. I told you my family isn't like that. They won't say anything. They'll be happy if you are happy. So tell me what do you want to wear tomorrow?" Raghav asked as he squeezed Siya's hand which was in his hand.
"The kurti given by uncle aunty" Siya said timidly.
"Then that's what you do. Nobody will ever tell you the way you should dress Siya. It's going to be your home Siya and there aren't such restrictions at home" Raghav said and smiled. This conversation made Siya's heart ease a little.
"Siya, is there anything I could possibly do to make you feel at home in Rajasthan?" Raghav asked.
"Hukum just stay by my side. That's all I need" Siya said.
"That's a given Siya. I'm not gonna leave you, ever" Raghav said and the rest if the ride back to uncle's place was passed in a sweet silence. They both holding hands and squeezing it every once in a while.
It was warm and comfortable.
