Chapter 4
Please Take Me Home Daddy by Mona Surrey
Chapter 4
Angie was furious and held the little girl in her arms. âLala, your mother wonât be coming back.â
Lauraâs heart skipped a beat. âWhy?â
âBecause she isâ¦â Angie paused for a moment, finding it hard to say the word âdeadâ to a child. Hence, she managed. âSheâs gone to heaven to become a superhero.â
Laura tilted her head and asked, âWhat is a superhero?â
âUm⦠A superhero is one of those powerful adults you see on television.â
âLike Queen Giselle?â Laura asked innocently.
Angie nodded and said, âYes! She went to become Queen Giselle, so she canât take care of you.
anymore.â
Laura hung her head in disappointment.
Angie was stunned. âLala, donât you wonder why your mother didnât take you with her?â
The other police officers came out one by one and looked at the little girl.
Lauraâs face was filled with sorrow as she shook her head and said, âMommy told me that if she has a good place to go in the future, she will not bring me along. Instead, sheâll leave me at home to fend for myself.â
Laura felt the urge to cry but pouted her lips, struggling to hold back her tears. âI know that Mommy will leave someday. When the time comes, I must be happy for Mommy and canât be sad.â
However, sadness still overwhelmed Laura to the point that she felt like bawling her eyes out. She covered her eyes and said, âBut Iâd be alone againâ¦â
All the officers looked at her sadly.

Even the elderly police chief, who was experienced in life, couldnât help feeling sorry for the pitiful girl.
She was still so young, yet she had suffered so much.
Antonio walked in to see this scene.

He felt slightly short of breath, and even the three young menâs gaze darkened when they saw the
child.
âThis child⦠How can she be so cute?â they wondered.
However, they soon came to their senses.
They thought to themselves, âNo. She is that womanâs offspring, and that woman excelled at pretending to be innocent. Perhaps the girl also inherited her motherâs ability and is now playing dumb to deceive us.â
A whirlwind of emotions raged in Antonioâs eyes.
The three young men were about to step forward, but Antonio stopped them. âListen to what she has to say first.â
The police chief noticed him and was about to say something when Antonio shook his head, gesturing for him to remain silent.
In response, the police chief shut his mouth in confusion.
He belatedly realized that the child resembled Antonio.
The police chiefâs eyes lit up in enthusiasm, eager for some juicy gossip. Similarly, Angie noticed Antonio, too. Startled, she looked at Laura with uncertainty. âAre you sure you donât have a daddy?â
Angie wondered, âIf she doesnât have a daddy, then who is this handsome and charming man? Those three young men look so similar to her, too.â
Laura tearfully nodded and then shook her head again.
Antonio narrowed his eyes.
âWhat does that mean?â he mused.
Laura said, âI do have a daddy.â
As soon as her adorable voice fell, everyone looked at Antonio.
Antonioâs expression was dark.
The three brothers snorted and thought, âHere it comes. Sheâs going to try to chimb up the social. ladder by using us as her stepping stones.â
To their surprise, Laura sniffled and said softly, âBut Mommy says Daddy doesnât want me anymore and doesnât like me at all. So, I donât want to look for him.â
Her words were like a bolt from the blue, rendering everyone speechless.
Angie wondered where did that come from.

The corners of Angieâs mouth twitched as she glanced at Antonio subconsciously. âBut what if your daddyâs here to pick you up?â
Laura shook her head and said, âDaddy wonât come. Daddy doesnât know that I exist. Mommy said that Daddy once tried to kill me. If he sees me again, he will try to kill me again.â
The police officers were shocked.
Antonio was confused.
The three brothers were puzzled as well.
Meanwhile, Louis thought to himself, âWhat kind of gory drama is this? Should I call the police?â
