Chapter 23
Bride of Mr.Billion
Bellaâs POV:
Herbertâs words made me frown.
Herbert threw this question back to me. The most hateful thing about this man was that he had targeted all his enemies at me. âIf I donât agree to get married, then I wonât have the possibility of giving birth to a child. Because with my working ability, I can hardly provide good living for the child.â 2 So the executioner who killed the child in the end would become me. Although I value self-esteem very much, in the face of my childâs life, I still choose the latter. I looked up at the marriage registration authority in front of me, who had already entered my sight. I turned to Herbert and said, âI cannot agree to clause 7 of the contract.â
I gave up my self-esteem and the child born from love, so I canât be written on the list and easily taken away by others.
I thought that he would object to my suggestion.
Unexpectedly, he said, âThis one is indeed unfair to you, Iâll ask my secretary to remove this one later.â
He agreed very quickly.
I nodded and said, âOkay, I agree to get married.â
At this time, Connor had already parked his car in the parking lot of the marriage registration. Weâve entered the marriage registration. Maybe weâre the only couple who got married without holding hands or putting our arms around each otherâs shoulders.
When I signed the marriage contract, I hesitated for two seconds and finally signed my name.
Without hesitation, he wrote down his name in a carefree manner.
Looking at his calmness, I couldnât help but think, âWasnât it the first time he got married?â When I sat in the car again, I couldnât believe that I was already married, and my target was Herbert.
There was dead silence in the carriage. No one broke the silence.
Along the way, we sat in the back seat without even looking at each other.
After a while, Connor parked his car in front of my house, but I still hadnât recovered from it.
âIâm going to make an appointment. You go back and have a rest. Iâll contact you later.â Hearing this, I looked up and saw that the car had stopped at the gate of my own community.
I turned my head and met Herbertâs eyes. I saw no expression on his face.
âIs he driving me out of the car?â I couldnât help thinking, Bella, oh Bella, what are you thinking about? Do you want to go home with him? He just regarded you as a machine for giving birth. Do you really think you are his wife? Thinking of this, my cheeks felt hot. I nodded quickly. âOkay.â Then i got out of the car.
23:26 I looked at the car driving away and shook my head hard. This was not a dream. Everything was true.
Today, Iâm already a married woman, and my husband is the president of my company.
My feelings are very complicated. I married myself just like that.
There was no wedding, wedding dress, ring, or even ceremony. I just got a marriage certificate. I couldnât help reaching into my bag where there was a marriage certificate.
I took the key and opened the door. Mom just came over.
I smiled and called her, âMomâ¦â
Pa!
My mother slapped me, and she gave me a slap.
My head felt dizzy. After a while, I felt very sad. I said, âMom, why did you hit me?â Ever since I graduated from college, Iâve been working hard to support my family and to support my sister in school.
Iâve never done anything wrong.
âWhy are you asking? Although Iâm cowardly, iâm alam a devout Christian. Have you forgotten how |
taught you since you were a child?â My mother was very angry.
âMom, what did I do?â At this moment, I seemed to have a hunch in my heart. Could it be that i was pregnant?
Sure enough, my mother pointed at me and asked, âAre you really pregnant?â
âYes.â I had never lied in front of my mother, so I nodded and admitted it.
Upon hearing this, my mother sat on the sofa with tears in her eyes. âYouâve gone too far. Have you forgotten the doctrine of the Holy books? You canât be lewd. You canât get pregnant before getting married. You canât get pregnant before marriage.â
How could my mother know about this so soon?
I thought for a long time. In the end, I could only think of one person.
âEmma!â
She must have told my mom! Although I have a lot of anger for Emma at the moment, I still decided to appease my mother first.
After all, Mom is the person I care about the most.
I know how hard it has been for mom to raise me and my sister since I was a child. I donât want Mom to be disappointed in me.
wa âMom, listen to meâ¦â âWhat else can you say? You and your ex-boyfriend have just broken up for a few days. How could you be pregnant? Are you a promiscuity?â Mom was so angry that she hit me a few more times. O I didnât hide and let my mother hit me. In fact, i knew in my heart that my mother was right.
It was true that I went out to do something, which led to my pregnancy. Itâs just that I canât admit it. Itâs not because Iâm afraid of being beaten or scolded, but because Iâm afraid of making my mom sad. âMom, youâre really wrong. Although I broke up with my ex-boyfriend not long ago, I didnât have any bad relationship with him. I met someone who loved me when I was lost. We... we fell in love.
Although I was pregnant before marriage and weâve already gotten our marriage certificate, weâre officially married. So itâs not against the doctrine of the Holy books. Weâre going to get married. So, we really want to spend the rest of our lives together!â As I spoke, I quickly took out the marriage certificate from my bag. Iâm glad that I agreed to marry Herbert today. Otherwise, I wouldnât know how to face my mother.
my mother took the marriage certificate with suspicion and began to carefully check it. âHerbert?â Susan read the name on the marriage certificate. âYes.â I nodded hastily. âHow old is he this year?â Asked Susan. I was a little stunned. I didnât know the age of Herbert, but I quickly glanced at the date of birth on the marriage certificate. He was four years older than me, so I quickly answered, âTwenty-nine years old.â âWho else in his family? What does his parents do? What does he do? Whatâs his personality like?â
The female officer asked a series of questions.
Trolled my eyes and could only come up with an excuse. âHeâs the only son of family. His family lives in a remote mountain village. His family background⦠is not very good. Heâs just a small employee. He canât afford a house so far, so I donât dare to bring him back for you to see. But heâs a nice person, and heâs very considerate to me.â Oh my god! I never lied to anyone. I didnât tell the truth tonight. I canât lie.
Because a lie had to be made up with a lot of lies. âhe have such poor conditions? he is far worse than Hank, whom I asked someone to introduce to you a few days ago.â Susan curled her lips to show her dissatisfaction. âMom, does that professor look down on me?â In order to stop her from pestering him, I told her that Hank looked down on me the last time I came back on a blind date. âThatâs right. No matter how good the person who doesnât love you is, we wonât marry him. As long as he is good and is willing to make progress, itâs good to be good to you. I wonât dislike him being poor. By the way, you can call him back tomorrow.â My mother finally smiled. 2 But my mother said⦠that i would bring him home tomorrow? What should i do?
