Chapter 14

JACE POV

1 day earlier.....

I was woken by my alarm clock, the sound so loud I was shocked from sleep but didn't have the strength to open my eyes or leave the bed, I was engulfed by a warm body so it wouldn't be a surprise that I was reluctant to leave. I eventually decided to open one eye to look all around me and I could see through the curtains that it was already morning. I then relented and opened my other eye and tried to get up but I looked down to my chest and saw Henry looking so cute. His hair ruffled from sleep and his face squishing together with no care in the world.

I just remembered why I set the alarm ugh I have to get the kids ready for school and get to work and there really isn't a lot of time left. I cant really wake Henry up because he had been stressing all night and he still has morning siclness so he is gonna wake up sooner or later.

I had no choice but to get out of bed, I went to the kids room and got them ready for school and got ready myself. Before we left I took the kids to my room to check on Henry before we left turn out he was still sleeping so I told the kids to go and wait for me in the car while I went to kiss Henry goodbye. When my lips touched his forehead, he woke up startled, looking around with wide eyes, but when he saw my face, he relaxed and smiled up at him the same time a smile was pulling at my lips.

"You ok baby?" Before he has a chance to respond, he is running to the toilet holding his mouth. He is going to throw up again, morning sickness is still a bitch. I went to the toilet and rubbed his back when I saw him dry heaving into the toilet bowl.

"I guess that's your answer Jace. Where are you going dressed like that?" He asked me while washing his mouth in the sink.

"I'm going to work real quick, I have to do some things in the office and I have some meetings to attend but don't worry I will be back soon. I'm taking the kids to school on my way to work and ill bring them back so relax and don't do anything too stressful. How was your sleep by the way?" I asked while pulling him into my arms for a hug.

"I slept wonderful especially since I have this hot boyfriend with a hard and sexy chest that is so comfortable and warm." he says nuzzling my chest at the same time.

"Well I'm glad that my hard and sexy chest could be of service to you." I pull away giving him one last kiss.

"Ok be back soon rest." I leave him in the room and I'm positive that he will go back to sleep the moment I leave the house so I drop the kids at school and get to work in record time. This is going to be a long morning.

The meeting was brutal and lasted a whopping 3 hours, it was boring for most part but some of it really got my focus and opened my eyes to a few things, foe example HR and accounting found some money missing from the monthly profits estimate and this has been happening for 4 months which isn't supposed to be so but it appears that someone has been stealing from me which I can say is a horrible decision on that persons part, they clearly don't know who they are messing with. I'm launching a full on investigation and whoever is found guilty, I will by any means deal with them.

I need to call Henry and check on him and tell him that I may be a little later than I anticipated, my finger was already poised to call Henry when the sound of my door being roughly jerked open caught my attention. A woman whom I thought that I will never see again, the same woman that I never wanted to see again and that I had to push out of my life, the same women who gave birth to my children is standing in my office, my skittish assistant, the one replacing Henry is staring at me frightened trying to get out words but not really knowing what to say.

"I tried to stop her but she pushed her way in, I swear I did."

"Its alright Mary you can go now." She ran out of here like the devil was on her heels.

I looked up and I saw the smirking face of my ex, she has gotten older since the last time I saw her, more worn but still adorned with riches. I guess now without my money her true face is finally showing. She looks like someone on a mission. I wonder which rich idiot she latched herself to now.

The staring match continued until she started speaking.

"Is this the welcome I get after being gone for so long."

"There is no welcome here, I don't know what you are doing here or what you want coming to my office right now but I assure you that you're not going to get it. There is nothing for you here so leave now willingly before I call security to drag you out of here."

"But darling, we are not even done talking and now you want me to leave." She says trying to sound seductive which she is failing at by the way.

"Are you crazy we have nothing to talk about and you are lucky I didn't file charges against you for child abuse but don't think for a second that I will let you back into my life to mess it up again. This time you will not walk back out free. Now choose your words carefully.

She tried to hide her fear with a smirk but I can see it as clear as daylight. I have been with this person for a long time and as much as I hate to admit it, I still know her like the back of my hand. She pulls her face back into an emotionless mask.

"Look lets just cut the chitchat I came here for a reason and ill be damned if I leave without it." She says coming closer.

"And what might I ask is this oh so great reason." I know goading her is not the right thing to do but I just need to keep the uneasiness and dread out of my voice. She keeps moving closer until she sits on my laps, I raise my eyebrow and move to push her out of my laps.

"What do you think you're doing huh, you are crossing the line, don't make me call security on you, let us settle this like adults." I say while putting my hand on her hips to remove her from my laps but she surprises me with a full on tongue filled kiss. I can feel my rage at her and this situation increase with every second that goes by and when I finally had enough of her nonsense enough to violently push her away I hear the most pain filled scream, one of anguish. I push her off me finally and see Henry looking so heart broken. I feel tears falling out of my eyes as well. I try to explain that it is not what it looked like. He wasn't meant to be here.

"Henry I swear it isn't what it looks like, that is not happening. You know I would never do that to you, please just let me explain, I know how it looks but trust me baby please." It looks like he is not listening too clouded by his thoughts.

I reach forward to catch because he looks like he is about to faint but I don't reach him in time but I do cushion his fall and stop him from landing on his stomach. I look up to see her smiling.

"Get out of here right now or so help me I will make you regret it." She smirk her little annoying smirk at me.

"You have not seen the last of me." but I ignore her and try to wake up Henry. Even in this state he is still crying. I call the ambulance since my attempts at getting him up isn't working. The ambulance gets here. People in the office are looking to see what's going on and who they are carrying in the stretcher but that is the least of my problems. In the ambulance they tried to stable his blood pressure and heart rate and other things like that.

"How far along is he?" One of the paramedics asked, a female named Patricia.

"4 months. Is there a problem."

"None that we can identify right now, we need to get to the hospital as quick as we can. But don't worry he is going to be fine." She tries to reassure me as much as she can but I am already going through a lot of emotional turmoil.

The trip to the hospital is a dreadful one, not one I ever want to relive, the worrying about him and the babies he is carrying, praying to any God out there to watch over him and protect him, the helplessness of not being able to do anything to help him, and worst of all, FEAR.

We get to the hospital and there is chaos everywhere but all I care for is my Henry.

He was sent to the ICU as they have to care for both him and the babies. It felt like forever before I saw the doctor come out of the ICU.

"How is he doing, is he alright?"

"He is fine, the increase in blood pressure and hypertension almost forced the babies out causing premature labour and if care is not taken, a miscarriage, but he came here on time so we were able to stabilize him although we put him in a drug induced coma because his body is still rejecting the presence of foetus in his body but the coma can help with that. Just give it a few days and he will be awoken." When he is done with the explanation my whole body slumps with relief but also tenses at the fact that the body is rejecting and trying to abort the baby.

"Will he be okay, can I see him?" The doctor smiles and nods.

"Of course he is going to be fine, I have to attend to other patients but I will come and check on him as often as I can."

"I want him moved to a VIP room as soon as possible."

I have been in the hospital for a day and Henry hasn't woken up. The kids are at home, I called their nanny to come and stay with them until we get back home.

I have been with him throughout but I keep on falling asleep so I go to the hospital cafeteria to get some coffee. I take my time drinking it slowly thinking of everyway things have gone wrong. Once I'm done with the coffee, I trash it and make my way back to Henry's room, when I get closer I see nurses running to his room and I pick up pace as well. I get close to the door and what I see makes a smile come to my face.

Henry is sitting up on his bed, I make my way into the room but when Henry sees me, the look on his eyes breaks my heart. He doesn't want to see me, not to even explain. I try to get closer but I was urged to leave the room as his heart rate was spiking.

"Mr Cormack I will advice you come some other time to see him as now is not a good time. Give him some time, I'm sure he will come around," One of the nurses attending to Henry says.

"Ok but I will be back, please take care of him." She nods and then I take my leave.

I go home and change and take care of my children. They ask where he is but I just dodge the question, I don't want to worry them too much.

The next day I came to see how Henry is doing but when I make my way into his room, I saw him talking and laughing with a man. Tall and handsome and everything. I watch them interact for a while at the open door way and they don't even notice my presence and I'm not liking the way they are together, so I enter the room completely.

"WHO IS THIS GUY".

Hi guys. So so so so so sorry about the very long delay. Take this chapter as my apology. Still trying to juggle school, work and novel writing but I'm sure I will get back to normal updating soon so don't worry. Have fun with this chapter, its a little short but its a filler.
