PROTECT
3 days later .
I'd met two cousins on my moms side after the AA meeting. Kyla Nori and Kayla. Surprisingly, we clicked almost instantly. Well me and Kyla Nori did. Kayla told Kyla Nori that id have to "grow on her". I hope she knows I do and will not kiss ass.
"Kayla could you hurry? You been in here for 20 minutes" I yelled through the door.
I rested against the door frame until she opened the door stomping out and I stomped in.
Seeing that my edge control was open on my counter made me step back. She just use my shit without asking me? Ima lock my shit up. I don't even know you like that.
Pushing the thought aside, i did my edges, stopped my hair and put on mascara and aquaphor before leaking out and going downstairs.
"Finally" Kyla Nori exclaimed.
"That's Kayla fault. She was in the bathroom for 20 minutes" i explained back.
Kyla Nori shrugged her shoulders and turned going out the door and I followed.
"Have fun girls" ma yelled after us.
"Love you" I yelled back and waiting to hear her back before shutting the door.
She yelled 'I love you too' back and I headed to the car.
Kayla started backing the car out of the driveway and I began to pray that we got to the bowling alley safely and in one piece.
"Ouuuu why that's Tyyyy???" Kayla started shrieking and shaking Kyla Nori.
I stood confused as the two girls shrieked and jumped. I followed their glance seeing five people standing at a lane. Two were in regular clothes, and man and woman and the other three were in all black. I'm guessing they're bodyguards.
I turned away unimpressed and walked to the counter to get my bowling shoes and walked to our lane across the building.
Bowling was fun as long as Ty and whoever was out of our sight. As soon as they came over in our area, everyone rushed near the group of famous people.
They must be a North Carolina type of famous cause I've never heard of him until i moved here.
I turned my attention back to the bowling lane and rolled my down twice before sitting down and waiting on the K's to come back.
They never came back. They sat in "Ty's" face until the time was up for our lane.
Seeing that they wasn't leaving i time soon, i ordered me a Uber home.
I let them know that i was leaving and headed out the building.
My phone chimed seeing that my Uber was here and I started walking to the blue Nissan.
Before I could get into the street a voice called out "aye". I ignored it.
They called out "blue shirt with the slick back".
I ignored the voice again but looking down at my shirt I realized it was me they was talking to. I looked back but saw no one. Plus one for me because I was too irritated and didn't care what they had to say anyways.
As I reached for the Ubers door handle, I was stopped by a hand beating me to it. I studied the well manicured hand with black and white checker board painted fingers before I looked up irritated more with whose hand it was.
"You didn't hear me calling you?"
"Did you call me?" I replied aggravatedly
"I said aye about three times"
"So no you didn't call me. My names not 'aye'"
"So what is your name?"
I rolled my eyes and stepped into the car.
I put my seatbelt on as I waited on them to shut the door. Slowly the took the hint and shut the door but waited outside for my answer.
I rolled my window down and told them good day.
The Uber driver started down the street as Ty's lady friend stood in the same place appalled with her jaw dropped.
I wiped it off and enjoyed my silent ride home.
"How was the alley?" Ma asked as I went into the kitchen to see what she cooked.
"Never again while Ty lives" i said plainly and went to my room and she followed.
"Why and who is Ty? Same Ty?"
"I'm guessing an actor or something and yes. The whole time Kayle and Kyla Nori was all in his face along with the rest of the bowling center. It sucked" I said grabbing some clothes for a shower.
Ma offered her advice and talked more as I got naked in the shower.
After my shower, me and ma ate dinner and I went to sleep feeling off.
Chapter 6
4 days later
These past few days have been horrible. I don't know whether to go get some Bacardi or ginger ale. I just want this withdrawal shit to speed up.
Even with all this going and me feeling like shit, ma making me go to AA still. She cares, I can tell by the way she basically been living in my room lately and cooking soup every night with at least one slice of bread every night.
"Go ahead. I'll be back soon Nana" ma said pulling up beside the building. I hopped out and walked into the building.
The building scent made me feel comfortable last time but today, it made me nauseous so I skipped past the table and took a seat in the circle putting my head in my lap and waited on this to start.
"You need this" a familiar voice spoke while tapping my shoulder.
I sat up slowly then rolled my eyes at who was standing in my face.
"What?"
"You need this. Have it" Ty's lady friend said holding a coffee cup and some bread. What is up with everyone and bread???
"You following me or are you an alcoholic too?" I asked her.
"Something like that" she said handing me the coffee and bread then walked off to join the outer layer of the circle.
I rolled my eyes at her stupid answer and put my head back down before the meeting started.
"Good afternoon everyone" the advisor whose name is Leela started.
Everyone greeted her back and waited for her to continue talking.
"I know a lot of you guys are excited. I can see it in your smiles" she said and I became genuinely confused.
"Yess y'all, we have Ty in the building. Everyone give her a round of applause".
I scrunched my eyebrows seeing who I thought was Ty's lady friend walk to the center of the circle and take a seat beside Leela winking at me.
I mentally face palmed and stabbed myself and made a mental not to yell at Kyla Nori later.
What the absolute fuck???
"I'm Ty as y'all know. Or may not know..." she stated while eyeing me as she said the last part.
I shifted uncomfortably in my seat as she kept talking.
"I used to go here when I was coming off of alcoholism. At age 13. I was addicted to alcohol. 13. It was- boy those were some hard times. Leela has been there with me through it allll. I thank God for Leela and New Hope. I've been sober for a long time"
"So today, we congratulate Ty with her 6th year pin" Leela says pulling a blue pin out of her pocket and handing it to Ty.
"Six years?"
"Six years yall"
"Six years sober" Ty said kissing the pin and hugging Leela.
Applause started within the building. I clapped but not as much. Six years is a long time. I applaud her for that.
Ty's bodyguard snapped a few pictures and ty went back to her seat. We didn't make eye contact this time. I didn't look at her.
I'm sitting here symptomatic and and she's BEEN sober.
A chill takes over my body making me slightly jump.
Embarrassed and more embarrassed, I sit back and zone out til it's time to go.
"Good day" Ty's voice came out of nowhere making me jump.
I rolled my eyes.
"Excuse me?"
"Good day"
"Horrible day to you too"
"So good days not your name?"
I rolled my eyes seeing what she was getting at.
"What do you want from me? Need more pictures for your campaign?"
"Can we start with your name"
"Can you guarantee my face won't be in any of those pictures. It's embarrassing enough as it is" I asked walking to the door.
"So i can't get your name?" She called out.
I ignored her and got into my moms car.
I told her all about everything at dinner.
A month later
After that whole commotion, I decided not to go to AA. Every week ma drops me off, I hide in a corner until she pulls off and hides in the coffee shop next door. It was embarrassing enough being an alcoholic but being one infront of cameras is crazy. Especially Ty's so I stopped going. Id missed 4 weeks. Don't get me wrong, I haven't been drinking. Id been sober for 61 days.
Kyla Nori told me that Ty was a singer/ producer. She tried to play some of her songs a few times but i didn't want hear and i don't want to now.
"Ma I don't need you to stay with me" I said growing suspicious.
"I'm not. I just want to make sure my Nana gets in safely"
I huff figuring out that I'd actually be attending today after a month.
"Nice to see you Jones" Leela grinned widely as she welcomed us in and winked at my mom.
I fake smiled and went to grab some sweets and sat down. Nice try.
Ty started towards me but Leela started talking and she sat down.
"You haven't been here?" Ty stated appearing from nowhere.
"Is that a statement or question"
"I don't know. You tell me"
"I was here"
"Why does Leela say you weren't"
"From the sound of it, you weren't here either"
"Fair point. But I'm sober"
"I am too. Just because it's not as long s yours doesn't mean I'm not sober" i said referring to my new 60 day pin in my hand.
"I didn't mean it like that"
"Yeah I get it" I said starting to the door.
Before I could touch it, she pushed it open. I stopped under the doorframe.
"I can open the door by myself"
"I'm sure you can".
I stood there until she let the door go. She didn't. "If only there was a mistletoe"
I rolled my eyes and walked out the door.
"Why you always rolling your eyes"
"You're always bothering me"
"Fair point. Bye"
I nodded my head to her and got in the car.
