She was even pleading with him.

The thugs were getting impatient, fearing the police might show up any minute. So, one of them raised a baseball

bat, ready to shatter the man’s arm. But just in the nick of time, Maja called out.

“How much do they owe you? I’ll pay it for them.”

She had finally come to her senses, slowly dragging her exhausted body forward.

When the men saw her face, their eyes lit up for a moment, but then they saw her overweight body and their

expressions turned to disgust

“You fat cow, what are you doing here? At a small clinic like this, how much money could you possibly have? Half a

million dollars, can you even afford that?”

Maja had already lost her pregnancy, her belly was flat now, but her figure was still overweight.

She slowly walked up to the girl, gently patting her on the head.

“Half a million, huh? I’ll pay it for them. You said yourself, selling her ten times wouldn’t cover the debt. Might as

well bet that I can pay it. My friend is on her way here She can write you a cheque.”

“What if you’re lying to us, you fat cow? Did you secretly call the police?”

“If the police show up, you can take me hostage”

Her tone was indifferent as she looked at the middle–aged man clutching his bleeding head.

Take your uncle to the clinic, she advised the girl, “have the doctor bandage him up.”

But the girl was fixated on Maja’s belly, which had just been round and protruding just a moment ago and was now

suddenly flat.

But she didn’t have time to ponder this, instead helping the injured man to his feet with bloodshot eyes.

Worried that Maja was just stalling, she whispered, “Run, Maja These men are really ruthless. If you can’t come up

with the money, they might break your arms and legs.”

Carol immediately took out a check and wrote in the amount.

Maja took the check and handed it to the thugs

“I’ve settled the girl’s debt I hope you won’t bother her anymore. You know it was her father who owed you

The thugs stared at the check, hesitating for a few seconds before finally taking it

After that, the thugs walked up to the girl and the middle–aged man.

Then the thugs hopped in their car and drove off.

The girl was still in disbelief.

Half a million dollars of debt, just gone?

She couldn’t believe her eyes as she looked at Maja.

The middle–aged man also stared at Maja, his head bandaged and blood smeared on his cheek, making him look

somewhat comical.

Both of them looked surprised

Maja nodded slowly at them, but she was still feeling weak and couldn’t say much.

Afraid that the girl would refuse the money. Maja got into Carol’s car without hesitation.
