Chapter 143

Maja had initially planned to pay back the money first, then sell her house as soon as the bank money

came in. She didn’t want lan to take the hit, even intending to pay back the interest. But now lan

refused and seemed a bit pissed off, she was momentarily confused about what was going on in his

head.

Ian was about to speak when Tyler’s voice came from a distance

“lan, are we leaving?”

Tyler had had a few drinks but was not drunk. He noticed Maja standing in front of lan

“What are you two whispering about?”

lan put some distance between him and Maja and left first.

Tyler nodded politely to Maja and then followed lan

Maja stood in place for a while After leaving the bar, she wanted to hail a cab.

Just then, a car pulled up in front of her. The window rolled down, revealing Glenn’s face.

Maja stepped back warly

With a smile on his face, Glenn’s grin widened after confirming she was alone.

“Maja hitting the bar alone?”

He remembered clearly the kind of medicine she had bought the last time he saw her at the hospital,

understanding that she wasn’t as innocent as she seemed. Now, who knows what she’s been up to

alone at a bar?

He got out of the car, dressed in a formal suit.

“You’ve been drinking: get in the car, I’ll take you home.”

“No, thanks.”

Maja firmly refused him

But Glenn still approached her, even sniffing near her ear.

“Don’t be shy with me. I’m your brother.”

Maja frowned and pushed him away.

“Dad’s not here; no need to pretend.”

Seeing a taxi coming, she walked towards it.

Glenn stood there, sniffing where she had pushed him away.

She had a faint scent of alcohol and didn’t wear perfume like other women, but her natural aroma was

enticing.

He watched her car drive away, not following.

He’d tease her from time to time; she’d get used to it.

Maja sat in the car, seeing Glenn’s shadow in the rear–view mirror, feeling sick to her stomach.

When she returned to Rosewood Manor, she took the soup she had made earlier, ready to deliver it to

lan’s hotel.

Since she had been drinking, she couldn’t drive, so she called a driver from Rosewood Manor.

When she arrived at the hotel, she confidently headed for the elevator.

There was the sound of high heels nearby, two elegantly dressed women also arrived at the elevator.

The elevator arrived, and Maja joined them inside.

The taller woman was touching up her makeup in the elevator mirror, applying lipstick.

The shorter woman joked, “Isn’t it pointless to put on lipstick now? Your boyfriend’s going to eat it off

anyway

The lady’s cheeks flushed slightly at his teasing, but her words were full of confidence.

I’ve told you I can enchant him.”

They were all on the same floor, all presidential suites.

Maja didn’t rush to find lan but glanced in the direction the girl had left.

She couldn’t help but send a message to Carol.
