That woman kept blowing off their agreed meetings. Now the dinner’s ready and she’s still snoozing

upstairs, making everyone wait for her.

This was a woman who dawdled and completely relied on the Blanchet family’s support for her life.

He said it calmly, getting up to go to the dining table.

Maria was being extra careful, sensing Mr. Raymond’s irritation.

She had a nap and some concealer on before she left, hiding any signs of tiredness. Otherwise, it

would be pretty disrespectful to meet her partners looking like that.

The people at Silverstone Enterprises were more reliable than Silver. They chatted for a bit and then

set up a dinner meeting.

Since it’s a business dinner, there’s bound to be some drinking. Maja only drunk two glasses at this

time and it took only three hours to negotiate the next process.

She handed over the blueprints and selected most of the basic construction materials.

The two parties had a pleasant chat and were expected to start working in two days. Maja didn’t call

the driver when she came out, and now she drank alcohol and had to take a taxi. When the car

stopped at Rosewood Manor, she paid, opened the door and stepped inside.

Rosewood Manor was unusually quiet tonight. The moment she stepped in, she could feel a tense

atmosphere.

It felt weird.

Maja rubbed her temples. She had quite the chat with the person in charge and now she just felt dizzy.

Maria’s waiting for her in the living room. She’s surprised to see her come in from outside.

“Ms. Pennyfeather, weren’t you sleeping in your room?”

“Got a sudden work call, so I had to head out.”

Maria instantly regretted not calling. It’s probably worsened Mr. Raymond’s impression of Ms.

Pennyfeather.

“Have you had dinner?”

“Just some drinks at the business meeting. My stomach’s a bit off. I’ll have a stomach medicine and

head to bed. You should get some rest too, Maria.”

Maria usually didn’t stay up but Maja’s came back really late. She thought Maja was resting in her room

so she was planning to serve her the food once she woke up. She didn’t expect Maja to be out.

“Ms. Pennyfeather, I’ve prepared some soup for you. Once you’re done, please leave the bowl in the

sink. I’ve also kept your stomach tablet and a glass of warm water on the dining table.”

“Alright.”

Once Maria’s done with her chores, she yawned and heads to bed.

Maja sat down at the dining table. She felt like she’s forgetting something but couldn’t quite remember

what.

Suddenly there’s a flash of lightning outside. Looked like there’s going to be a storm tonight.

After taking the stomach medicine, she no longer had the appetite to drink soup, so she put the bowl

back in the kitchen. Outside, the rain was getting heavier. Then there’s a deafening thunderclap.

Maja was going to wash the bowl herself. But the thunderclap scared her and she dropped the bowl,

shattering it.

She rushed to pick it up but the moment she knelt down, everything went dark. Only the flashes of

lightning outside could light up the room.

Power cut?

Just as she’s about to get up, she heard a man’s voice outside the kitchen.

“Who’s there?”

It’s lan’s voice.

No wonder she felt like she was forgetting something. She was so engrossed in her chat with her

partners that she forgot she and lan were staying in the same house, Rosewood Manor.
