“Ryan, you’re spot on! Penny is indeed a gem. Her interior design skills are off the charts and her

portrait painting is top–notch!”

Recently, Ryan decided to keep his nose clean and he’s been treating Rita well, with the two of them

keeping in touch.

But when he saw this photo, his eyebrows shot up and he forwarded it to lan without a second thought.

“Bro?”

It was already 10 p.m. and lan had reached the Pennyfeather family’s doorstep.

The Pennyfeathers had called Holden for dinner. He had to be there, but he could choose when to

show up.

The Pennyfeather’s dining table was laden with mouthwatering dishes, filling the house with delicious

smells. But the atmosphere was tense as those seated around the table wore stern expressions.

It was dinner time, but lan and Maja were nowhere to be found. Maja hadn’t even picked up her phone

yet.

Neil was so angry that he was about to faint, and Cristina was still adding fuel to the fire. “I told you,

your daughter isn’t as devoted to you as you think. She’s independent now and doesn’t care about how

you feel. You just got out of the hospital and she dares to upset you. She clearly doesn’t value you.”

Neil’s hands trembled as his doctor had cautioned him to stay in the hospital given his health condition.

But with the successful completion of the second round of funding and the company’s affairs to handle,

Neil didn’t want to hand over the reins at such a crucial time.

Neil was considering transferring his shares to Maja so she wouldn’t struggle if anything happened to

him.

He wasn’t sure about Maja and lan’s relationship. Inviting lan was meant to boost the Pennyfeather’s

influence, but as a father, he wanted to see how his daughter and son–in–law got along.

With lan’s assistant’s prior reminder and Selena Casson’s attitude, Neil was genuinely worried.

The Pennyfeathers had been waiting since 6 p.m. The food had been reheated several times, but no

one dared to touch it.

Neil didn’t have the guts to call lan, he didn’t even know his number.

He only dared to call Holden because he knew the old man was pleased with Maja.

Cristina, starving, couldn’t help but complain.

“I think they won’t show up, honey. Let’s eat before we starve the kids. Tricia can’t handle this stress,

and Glenn has been working all day.”

Hearing this, Neil softened a bit.

Lately, Glenn Pennyfeather had been working diligently at the family’s company without any major

issues.

He let out a sigh, reckoning that they really wouldn’t make it.

“Let’s eat.”

As soon as he said this, a servant ran in from the entrance.

“Sir, a Rolls–Royce has just pulled up. It might be Mr. Raymond.”

Neil’s eyes lit up as he stood up abruptly. Could it be that lan had arrived with Maja?

He felt a flicker of hope.

After all, lan had once gifted Maja a Rolls–Royce umbrella, suggesting their relationship wasn’t bad.

Neil wanted to go outside right away, but he turned back to look at Cristina.

“What are you daydreaming for? Come greet our guests.”

Cristina reluctantly stood up, noticing her daughter’s excited face and her hand twitching nervously.

It was the look of someone about to meet someone they liked.

Cristina frowned, then saw Tricia Pennyfeather heading towards the entrance.

Cristina was no fool. If she still didn’t understand her daughter’s feelings, then all her years of living had

been in vain.

Neil didn’t expect Tricia to be the quickest, but he didn’t mind. When Cristina arrived, they went to the

entrance together.

lan remained in the car, and it was Jeff who got out.

Jeff nodded at the people at the entrance, expressionless.

“The boss just finished a social event and won’t come down. Mr. Pennyfeather, enjoy your dinner.”

Despite his polite words, lan didn’t show up, a clear sign that he knew they were waiting for him but

chose not to join them.

This was a veiled warning, a sign of respect towards the Pennyfeathers.

If it were anyone else trying to pressure him through Holden, he would have retaliated in the business

world.

The Pennyfeathers hadn’t learned their lesson from the last project setback. This time, they had

crossed the line. lan no longer needed to consider their feelings. But considering Holden’s health, he

didn’t want to stir up trouble.

Neil’s face darkened. He realized that lan wasn’t interested in Mája.

If he had been, he wouldn’t have put the Pennyfeathers in such an awkward position.
