lan felt like his heart had been bitten by a venomous bug.

“What are you doing?”

The voice brought Maja back to reality. She quickly apologized.

“I’m sorry, I was just…”

She immediately opened the medicine box, looking for anything that could be of use. Spotting the

medical scissors, she grabbed them and prepared to cut open his clothes.

But the clothes were stuck to his flesh, and just the sight of it made her wince.

“Mr. Raymond, try to bear with it.”

“Alright.”

lan shifted his gaze away from the glass in front of him, no longer looking at her. He slowly closed his

eyes.

Maja ripped open his clothes.

lan let out a muffled grunt.

Maja moved quickly, disinfecting, stopping the bleeding, applying medicine, and getting out bandages

after she had cut all the cloth.

Seeing such a severe wound for the first time, especially on lan, made her fingers tremble with

nervousness.

In order to bandage him, she had to work around his chest, so she had to stand up. The bandage in

her hand went from his shoulder, across his chest, to his waist. Maja breathed heavily when she was

nervous.

She held this position for several minutes, her legs starting to go numb.

Just as lan was about to ask her how much longer it would take, he felt a warm touch on his shoulder.

Maja’s legs had gone numb. Unable to support herself any longer, her lips accidentally landed on his

shoulder.

lan’s breath hitched, his voice a bit hoarse.

Penny, do you know what you’re doing?”

Maja’s face turned red. She quickly moved away from him and continued bandaging him, keeping her

head down. “Mr. Raymond, it was an accident.”

“And what about last night?”

He looked back at the glass, looking directly at Maja’s face through it.

Was the kiss last night also an accident?

This woman had slept with him after he returned to his country. And then they always bumped into

each other.

He remembered Tyler Bennitt’s words. Was all of this really a setup by her?

But her usual expression was too indifferent. She didn’t even react when she saw him wearing the

cufflinks that Carlene gave him. She didn’t seem like she had a crush on him.

But so many coincidences had happened that he couldn’t help but be suspicious.

“Mr. Raymond, you were drunk last night. You might have mistaken me for someone else. You initiated

the kiss.”

She seemed to worry that he would overthink, so she made up an excuse.

“You called me Carlene. Honestly, it scared me too.”

This sentence immediately dissipated the ambiguous atmosphere in the room.

After all, it involved a third person.

Once she finished wrapping the last turn of the bandage, Maja wiped the sweat from her palms with a

tissue.

“Alright, Mr. Raymond. You should really go to the hospital for a check–up. I’m not sure if I treated the

wound properly. If it gets infected, it will slow down the healing process.”

lan stood up, keeping a certain distance from her. He wanted to go to the bar to get some water.

Remembering that she came tonight to seek help, Maja beat him to the punch and walked to the bar.

Mr. Raymond, sit down. I’ll get the water.”

Her goodwill was evident, without a hint of pretense.

For some reason, much of lan’s displeasure disappeared.

Maja brought the water over. It wasn’t really appropriate to leave at this point.

Her goal was achieved. Now that lan was seriously injured, what if he developed a fever at night?

Jeff had left after throwing a sentence, obviously hoping that she would stay and take care of lan. But

did Jeff misunderstand something?

“How did you get injured?”

Such serious injuries didn’t look like the result of a fight.
