Everyone thought that lan would blow a fuse, given how Penny had really pushed the envelope.

Since Carlene was Mr. Raymond’s girlfriend, she should’ve been the one to put the kibosh on the

whole thing. Carlene gave lan’s sleeve a little tug, her voice filled with a mix of pleading and a bit of

coquettish charm.

“lan, Dana is actually the victim…”

Before she could finish her spiel, lan cut her off with an icy tone.

“You apologize to her,”

Carlene’s gentle expression instantly froze; she thought she might have heard wrong.

Everyone else was on the same page, all keeping mum, no one daring to pipe up and ask what the

heck was going on.

Thinking lan was siding with her, Dana tearfully started dabbing at her eyes.

“Penny, did you hear that? lan’s telling you to apologize to me.“.

Really?

Maja shot lan a puzzled look; momentarily, she thought he was telling Dana to apologize.

Then everyone else cottoned on, and lan was actually telling Penny to make amends.

They all knew it; Penny was definitely in for a rough ride today.

lan looked down at Dana.

“I’m telling you to apologize.”

That comment was like a punch in the gut to Dana’s last shred of dignity.

Her face drained of color; she trembled and stared at lan in disbelief.

Carlene was there, but he was making her apologize to Penny.

Carlene felt like she’d been sucker–punched too. lan making Dana apologize was like putting her on

the spot.

Her hand slowly clenched into a fist. But she’s always been the patient type, quickly flashing a smile.

“Actually, Dana, you are in the wrong here. Maybe the bodyguard did mess up the names, but you are

staying silent. That’s misleading everyone. You should apologize to Penny.”

With that, she cleverly shifted the bulk of the blame onto the bodyguard, making Dana, at most, an

accomplice.

Dana’s tears fell like rain. It was one thing for lan to witness this, but now she had to apologize to this

witch.

But since Carlene had spoken, she had no choice.

Carlene had a lot of clout in the Shepard family. They hoped she’d marry lan and help them break into

the Greenfield elite.

Dana felt utterly humiliated, gritting her teeth.

After today, her reputation would be toast.

All because of Penny!

She took a deep breath and slowly said, “I’m sorry.”

Maja felt a whole lot better; she hadn’t expected lan to be so impartial. She thought he’d let the whole

thing slide because of Carlene.

Maja had had some special drinks the previous night, and coupled with the intoxicating effects of lan’s

drink, she’d completely forgotten about the past incident.

She even blamed her discomfort on the fall from the bed.

She looked at Dana with a smile.

“I know you don’t mean it, so you don’t have to apologize again.”

Dana’s face turned crimson with anger. What a piece of work!

Why did she have to rub it in after she said sorry?

Carlene was livid too. If an apology wasn’t needed, why did she have to explain things in front of lan?

What a nerve!

Maja knew they now hated her guts.

But she wasn’t going to back down today.

She felt someone’s gaze on her as she was lost in thought. She looked up and saw it was lan.

He wore a gray suit, radiating a cold aura that made people keep their distance. Even his smile had a

chill to it.

She furrowed her brows. Why did it seem like lan’s mood was even more intense than usual today?
