Maja didn’t want to wait, so she rang up Carol, asking her to pull some strings from the Miller family to

look into those two “No way, is that true? I’ll get on it right now, Maja, don’t worry, just rest up in the

hospital!”

After hanging up, Maja saw Dana pushing her door open.

Dana stared at her, letting out a cold laugh.

“lan is coming soon, you better think about how you’re going to apologize to Carlene”

“You seem to forget why you’re in the hospital?”

Dana’s face stiffened, her eyes filled with resentment. But until lan arrived, she couldn’t make any rash

She chuckled coldly, shut the door, and went to the next room.

Maja rubbed her temples, and she had hit Carlene because of those two. She couldn’t hold herself

back and didn’t expect Carlene to actually get injured. When she came in, she had already asked the

doctor. Carlene not only had a stomach problem, even one of her ribs was broken.

Maja had some doubts about whether she had used too much force.

The doctor explained, “Ribs are fragile. Last week, a wife accidentally broke three of her husband’s

ribs, it’s not a major injury, but it’s not minor either.” Maja didn’t say anything; after the doctor left, she

closed her eyes for a bit, soon hearing footsteps from outside.

Not a nurse; it must be lan.

lan arrived at Carlene’s room, and her eyes turned red as soon as she saw him.

“lan.” She called out in a pitiful voice, yet feeling delighted inside.

Thanks to Maja’s uncontrollable kick, she had a stomachache and a broken rib. Once lan learned about

her condition, he would see how vicious Maja really was. lan didn’t sit down. He looked her up and

down, confirming there were no other issues, then asked, “What happened?”

Carlené didn’t answer but gave Dana a look.

Dana quickly opened her mouth.

“lan, it’s all Penny’s fault; she first insulted me, and Carlene just wanted her to apologize, but she

attacked Carlene, broke her rib, and her stomach problem flared up; the doctor suggested she stay in

the hospital.”

lan didn’t doubt the authenticity of her words, considering Maja’s usually strong nature. Last time in the

elevator, she seemed to have acted out against Dana.

But she shouldn’t have gone after Carlene and shouldn’t have used so much force.

His face turned grim, “Where’s Penny?”

“She’s in the next room, acting all soft and weak. lan, you need to get revenge for Carlene.”

lan frowned slightly. Why is she in the hospital too? He got up and instructed Dana.

“Take good care of Carlene.”



Dana’s face was all smug. Once he left, she looked at Carlene cheerfully.

“Don’t worry, lan will get your revenge, Penny’s toast.”

Carlene thought the same, considering her injuries were quite severe this time.

Even though Penny was also in the hospital, her injuries weren’t caused by Carlene.

lan, in his suit, arrived at the next room. He didn’t barge in right away but politely knocked.

Maja sat on her bed, subconsciously touched her neck, and said, “Come in.”

lan walked in, saw her pale face, and his steps halted. His tone softened unconsciously.

“What happened to you?”

He came to her bed, saw the bandage around her neck, and his eyes darkened.

This couldn’t have been from last night’s injury.

With his presence, Maja felt the entire room brightened, and he was the center of attention wherever he

went.

“Mr. Raymond.”

She softly called out but heard him asking, “Did you cause Carlene’s injury?”

Facing this question, Maja couldn’t deny it; she could only, admit, “Yes.”
