He quickly approached Maja, opened the umbrella, and handed her the tissues.

“Penny, you don’t seem too happy?”

Maja was a bit shocked to hear his voice. She looked up at him, quickly wiped away her tears, and

forced a smile.

“Nathan, what are you doing here?”

“I came to pick up some medicine for my sister. You know, she’s got leg problems.”

He sat next to her, holding the umbrella.

“It’s so hot. How can you sit down here? What happened?”

Maja didn’t feel close enough to Nathan to share her personal issues.

Her mood changed quickly, and facing someone she wasn’t very familiar with, she recovered quickly.

Not far away, lan returned to his car.

He could only see two blurry figures seemingly overlapping in the rear–view mirror. Were they kissing?

“I’ll be there soon.”

was no longer on her side.

stayed any longer, lan might not be hers anymore.

lan took her to complete the discharge procedures after he arrived at the hospital.

Carlene, as usual, held his hand and followed him back to the car with a big smile, instantly feeling like

she might have overthought things.

But as soon as she got in the car, lan’s phone rang. Because he was driving, he put it on speaker.

The call was from Ryan.

“Why did you fire Rita? She’s been crying, saying it’s because of Penny. Rita is my girlfriend.”

Sitting in the passenger seat, Carlene’s smile disappeared when she heard this.

Ryan continued complaining, “I bought her a bag but couldn’t cheer her up. Let her come back to the

Raymond Corporation. It’s all just a misunderstanding”

lans voice was serious, with no ups or downs.

“Ryan, you should continue to gain experience at the Raymond Corporation to improve your insight.”

Ryan didn’t dare to argue and hung up the phone. He thought the person who caused the problem

should solve it, so he called Maja.

“Mr. Elston”

“Penny, can you talk to lan and ask him not to fire Rita? He fired her because she said something about

you, and he fired her in the morning.”

Maja was a bit surprised. Ian fired Rita because of her.

That can’t be true.

lan is very strict at the company. Maybe Rita did something wrong?

“Mr. Elston, are you sure it’s because of me?”

“Penny, I’m very sure. For old time’s sake, can you go talk to him, please? Rita’s been making a scene

here, and I’ve been trying to calm her down for two hours.”

Since he even brought up the past favors, Maja had to accept.

“Mr. Elston, I’ll try to find Mr. Raymond, but I can’t guarantee anything.”

She warned Ryan in advance, but Ryan only raised his eyebrows.

“Don’t underestimate yourself. Just give it a try.”

Maja was just across the street from the hospital, where she had been walking with Nathan.

After hanging up with Ryan, she saw lan’s car. What a coincidence.

She had to face it, no matter what. She quickly stepped forward and waved.

lan’s car stopped, the window rolled down, and Maja immediately saw Carlene sitting in the passenger

seat.

But Maja pretended not to see her, instead leaning slightly and looking at lan.

“Mr. Raymond, Mr. Elston called and said you fired his girlfriend because of me…”

She thought the whole thing was absurd.

lan’s gaze fell on Nathan, who was not far behind her

The car window closed instantly, leaving only his words.

“You’re overestimating yourself.”
