and tomorrow is lan’s birthday again.

Just then, she got a call saying something’s been delivered.

Carlene frowned and went to retrieve the item, only to discover it was a notebook with a damaged chip inside.

Recalling that lan had inspected her notebook before, it hits her- this notebook must hold some huge secret.

This could be the very thing lan and Fitch have been searching for!

Carlene was thrilled and dialled lan immediately.

It’s nearing midnight, and at the stroke of twelve, it will be lan’s birthday.

Friends have been asking how he plans to celebrate this year.

Usually, he would hang out with Tyler and the guys first, but this year Holden has returned, and he must go home

first to see Holden first…

At 11:50, Carlene sent a text, and even attached a photo.

lan, looking at the photo of the notebook with a chip, immediately forwards it to Fitch.

Fitch confirmed right away, “That’s the notebook at Carlene’s?”

Carlene sent another text to lan saying she would deliver it personally and wished him a happy birthday.

She was so pumped she headed straight out the door and into her car.

But she only got three kilometres before she stopped.

A car was blocking her path. She tried to reverse, but suddenly, there were two cars behind her.

Carlene watched as several bodyguards approached her vehicle and to her shock, they opened her locked car door.

She screamed in fear as a masked man stepped out of the car in front.

“Where’s the item?”

Carlene’s pupils dilate. She was planning to use this item as a ticket to the Shepard family’s prosperity!

Maybe she could even replace Maja and marry lan!

But in this critical moment, she finds courage from somewhere, steps on the gas and bolts.

The masked man didn’t expect this move. The car blocking her path gets shoved aside, and Carlene’s car starts

smoking.

The man’s eyes were icy as he ordered his bodyguards to pursue her, “Handle it before lan and Fitch’s people get

here.”

Two cars immediately chased after Carlene.

Carlene’s car got hit hard, and smoke billows even more.

Her car catches fire, and that’s when she starts to panic.

“Help! Help!”

She flings open the door and scrambles out, completely forgetting the allure of wealth. Nothing was more

important than survival!

But she left the notebook in the flaming car, and a corner caught fire.

The bodyguards were about to rush over, but just then, lan and Fitch’s car arrived.

Carlene sat by the road crying, watching the cars chasing her quickly make a U–turn and disappear.

lan and Fitch walk over to her.

“Where’s the notebook?” Fitch looks a bit anxious.

Carlene, still crying, pointed to the burning car. The notebook is already half burnt.

lan is about to rush over, but Fitch stops him.

The next second, the car explodes due to the fire, and the notebook is completely consumed by the roaring flames.

lan’s eyes are slightly red, his expression cold, as he silently watches the burning car.

Carlene realizes she’s been rescued and immediately throws herself at his legs.

“lan, I almost died.”

Ian doesn’t respond. Fitch knows he’s upset. After all, the truth about his brother’s death could’ve been in that

notebook.

“lan.” Fitch pats his shoulder while Carlene continues to sob, clinging to his legs.

lan felt annoyed and asked Carlene, “Has the notebook been with you all along?”

Carlene nodded.

“Why didn’t you bring it out earlier?”

couldn’t find it because someone had stolen it, so I gave you another one. I didn’t expect the notebook to reappear

today.”

Ian frowned. Something did not add up.

If those people were also after the notebook and they had stolen it earlier, why would they go to great lengths to

stop Carlene now?

He retracted his leg and silently headed back to his car.

Fitch glanced at the woman still sobbing on the ground, “This involved Eric, Ms. Shepard, you should tone down the

drama.”

Carlene’s face darkens. She just had a brush with death, but these two seemed to care less about her well–being.

Fitch lit a cigarette, looking a bit annoyed, and followed lan into the car.

Carlene watched the car drive away, her fists clenched. Not one person helped her up!

Did lan move on that quickly?

That annoying woman Maja, stole lan from her and made him so cold!

Taking a deep breath, she dialled a number. Hearing that Maja has split the Pennyfeather family’s business in two,

her eyes flash with contempt. Maja wanted a piece of the entertainment industry. How naive! It’s all about

connections. What makes her think she could succeed?!

Her face is twisted with malice, and she has a plan.
